Earth strap well and truly fecked, so got a new starter. Just finished fitting it, and she lives again!!! :D For the first time since Saturday I'm mobile again :D Thanks for help and ideas guys
-
Think I've finally sorted it out. Just taken the starter motor off (outside in the dark) and found that the starter earth strap has corroded through  New starter motor tomorrow and hopefully all will be well again for a while.
-
Was just outside "tapping" starter motor with a hammer. Tested for powre and it's getting to starter. There are clicks from relays, so now I suspect it's starter motor, but surely that would make a click/bang if stuck.

Still no life in the old girl!! :( I've changed the ignition switch and still nothing happens :( Does any one else have any ideas? VAG-COM says that factory imobiliser is alright, laserline one swithches off/on fine, yet engine doesn't do a thing. Everything but the engine work (not good for a car)
-
Thanks for your help mate, hopefully back on the road on Monday :)
-
Thanks dirtytorque have found and removed switch, you're right it is a pain to do. Will have to wait till monday to see if it is that thats causing the problem. Is there a way to 'hotwire' it so that I have use of the car ie. connecting certain wires together?
-
Yes everything works fine, it's just like the immobiliser is on, but it isn't. Is the ignition switch mounted below the spoiler switch inside lower dash?
-
No the engine not cranking, lights don't dim,it's just as if I haven't tried to start car.

This morning my 95 VR6 started and ran fine.....but this afteroon it's not doing anything!!! Alarm opens doors and unarms but the engine doesn't turn over. The battery is fine as all electrics work, but there is nothing from the engine at all. Did a search and ignition switch symptoms are cranking but not firing, (plus when I've looked I can't find switch, is it below spoiler switch inside lower dash?) Anyone any ideas please??

I got an e-mail from mc guard this week apologising for their computer and phone system being down recently. Try them again as I think they are up and running again
-
Just found my handbook, under fuses it says "no.15 engine electronics" 10 amp. You never know, it might be that simple....but its a corrado so maybe not.
-
Last idea...fuel pump? Can you hear it when you turn on ignition? Don't know if it runs via a fuse or relay
-
Imobiliser? The sensor that reads from the key can come loose and work its way down the steering column. If you have a spare key put one in the ignition to start and hold (wave) the other along the steering column. Good luck

Would you need to reset the ECU? Not 100% sure, do a search on resetting you may need VAG-COM as well. If you disconnect battery for 10 mins that wipes fault codes but then there is a series of manouvers that you have to do to reset it. Hope that vague idea helps, I'm sure I'll be corrected.

Looks like "Sport Rader" bolts I had on mine. Had to get them drilled off today as key fell to bits. :x They're from VW (so my registration card says)
-
Are you just hitting the rev limiter?
-
Have you checked the fuse that is on its own above the main bank of fuses? I lost leccy windows and central locking a bit ago, and for once it was a cheap easy fix, a first on my VR
-
Don't if it'd show up on VAG-COM, it seems to check everything. :? If you want it scanning let me know as I'm only in Holmfirth
-
If your central locking has stopped working too it sounds like it's just the fuse.

I've just got 16 pin VAG-COM. Based in Huddersfield if anyone needs some help.

toad ai606 lock advice and box location advice
nick vr6 replied to elrikos's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Take out the glove box (inner)and mount the control box to the bulkhead/underside of dash, then replace the glove box. Thats where my control box is located (not a toad alarm) -
I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for you in Huddersfield now. Certainly no which is your car, looks great. Worth the wait then?

Changed standard air filter for a K&R panel filter and had a Magnex cat back exhaust fitted. Feels like a new car now :D
