Thanks for letting us know Paul, always good to hear another tyre available in our size. I too run the 15s and can't see me changing wheels as like their design. I have the RE002s on the back and some Uniroyals on the front. They are fine but a bit soft on the sides.

As VW Rule said - AA/RAC are also great at solving non start situations. It sounds electrical putting 2 and 2 together. Probably crank sensor.

Looking good. Defo improvement over previous colour on a darker car.

I've followed your readers rides Geeba. Sounds a great build. What's MLS? I sometimes bulk at the cost of everything but a quick drive confirms the decisions - shame you can't do that so kudos to you. For some reason I feel I need to be looking for one of those manifolds now. Well in the future. My poor kids are going to be subjected to camping summer holidays.... in the back garden at this rate.

Probs wise move.. although not sure what the price was of the golf vr6 but assume bodywork was sound... you could convert it back to stock if you think it could be a valuable car in stock form.

Some of the posters on that pistonhead thread make my chuckle. I like the mk2, if you get it, it would be great to hear how it compares to the Corrado. Are you not tempted by a 16v (or 8v) instead with a VR6 already on the drive? I'm interested in the 8v (for it's simplicity) or the 16v for it's great 4-pot noise. Although I'd happily have a VR6 in every car I own as well so can see the appeal :)

Cheers Ben, I'll send you a Pm

Yeah I like the idea of the red badges. You going down there today? The car looks nice from a distance, no dents etc. But check out around the window rubbers and you'll see the rubbishy blow over on the sides that annoys me. I can live with it for a few years yet and at least I don't have to worry about damaging the paint for now whilst learning detailing techniques. Interior wise I'm probably going for leather outers and the porsche pepita trim on the centres. You gave me the ideas in the first place :). I was eyeing up those cloth recaro's on ebay at the moment but thought better of it on reflection. Also - as the weather was so bad and the M1 mostly 50mph restrictions I managed to get 39.7 mpg out of it!

Subscribed. Clean as! Interested in detailing

Haha don't tempt me! Good spot though.

Cheers tonedef, yep that is the way to do it. I wanted the exhaust but that will have to be de-prioitised if need be. Assume I can run 263s on the standard map and I think I need to wait for mapping until exhaust is fitted or doesn't it not matter? Would rather not have to get it mapped twice!

Hi, My drivers seat has seen better days and lost any support in the padding. I'm after decent condition (no tears in the bolster), lower mileage late drivers black seat. I will take the whole interior if you want to get rid of it that way. I'm based in Hertfordshire and happy to collect within a 50-75 miles radius :) Else can collect at a later date in West Wales or Norfolk areas. Cheers Matt

I was up and Stealth yesterday. Jared is yours still on the Jersey plates or is it a K reg? Saw a very tidy K reg in the shop. There was a purple one up on the ramps having some work done waiting on powder coating taking up my spot in the queue (but I'm not fussed with waiting). Looked nice too, sometimes wish mine was something other that white when I see these differernt colours. Anyway found a nice sunlight picture of the black code:

Whilst mulling this over in my head and I'll chat with Vince next week anyway to see what's possible, but guessing I could get the cams fitted and wait on having the remap until the exhaust is fitted later. I'm guessing the remap needs to happen with the car in its "final" state with all engine mods done (at this stage anyway) so not worth remapping till exhaust is fitted. There isn't anyhting wrong with the standard system mechanically.

Hi all, First world dilemma. Car is in for some work - chains, head refurb, clutch and a load of other refreshment with brakes, abs pump and bushes. Originally thought I'd add a miltek system to the job list if nothing else major crops up. However when I dropped it off the idea of 263 cams and a remap was dropped in my ear, since the labour on fitting will be included in the other work. I think I'll be in the position where I'll only be able to afford one or the other.. What would you go for? I'm told and have read the 263s will increase midrange punch which is my driving style. However I think a nice exhaust note would be satisfying. I could add the exhaust at later date though. Cheers

Keyo I have the alpine set you're referencing to fit SXE-1325S SXE-4625S SXE-1025S They were sold a direct replacements to me without the need for any adapters, they even have wiring adapters in the box. I'm just waiting on some dynamat to line the doors before fitting.

What about someone to reverse the LHD volt centre console cluster so it fits a RHD car. Need someone who is prepared to share their RHD unit I guess? I'd happily pay LHD drive money to buy one of those :)

Yeah that was my thoughts originally as well - to increase the value of the car. But lots of people like cloth, however I must admit the VW 90s cloth interiors are not that nice! If you can stomach the cost and want it, it is worth it. If all else fail you'll be able to sell it on and get your money back. There is a cloth Recaro set on ebay for £1600. I was tempted but not at that price and it's not a priority for me.

They do crop up every now and again. You're looking at around £750-850 for a full leather interior inc door cards. I too was looking for a leather interior and a couple have come up over the last year to give you an idea. I've decided against leather though as I don't have air-conditioning and used to own a car with leather without air-con and it was a sticky sweat fest in summer! Instead, and sharing for options yourself, I thought I'd get my cloth recovered with some plaid/tartan trim or something period correct in the centres and go leather on the side bolsters. Other alternatives can be to fit Audi TT fron seats (c £150) but some fabrication is needed. Or source some recaro's from another car (c £200-300) and trim and fabricate a base. Or source some real Corrado recaro's but they are £1500-2000 which is just plain redicilous given the value of the Corrado compared to other modern classics these other recoro's come out of.

Sounds like your fan controller might be dead. The soldered joints go crusty with age and fail. The VR6's have a 3 stage fan, controlled by multiple inputs from the coolent sensors and rad fan sensor. I can't fully remember it but it's in the guide -> readings from various sensors tell the fan controller which stage fan to run. I had a problem with my rad fan sesnor and was only getting stage 2. Replacing it gave me all 3 stages. These sensors are cheap - I would replace the yellow, blue and black sensors on the thermostat body and the Rad Fan switch on the rad and go from there. Also check the solder joints on the rad fan switch and re-solder as needed. Yellow does the dash read out and controls stage 1 fans. Blue just sends a signal to the ECU for fuelling. Black I believe comes into play for stage 3. Rad Fan switch plays a part in stage 2 fans. But the key is they work together to complete the system so if one is duff it causes problems with the 3 stage fans. Stage 1 fans can barely be heard. Stage 2 will come on for a few moments and can be heard. Stage 3 I've never heard but is apparently very loud!

Looking superb Keyo. I’ve bought the cup holder too! I think the new colour combo on the refurb’d wheels will looks great. Love the speedlines for ease of cleaning though!! If things don’t go too mad at Stealth I’m hoping to stretch to the exhaust. Golf is looking good in the background 👌

Yay - long live the manual. I once had a DSG in a Leon FR and hated it. I became lazy and left it in drive and never got on with the way it used to always jump to the highest, most fuel efficient gear possible. Especially crossing A-Road style roundabounts where it always went into 4th on exit when I just wanted 3rd for a little longer, que stamping the peddle and kick down to 2nd made for a bloody irratating drive. I know I could overide it with the paddles but at that point I'd may aswell be getting the full manual experience. My 2pence.

Haha I did think about adding the chav comment to the list :) You are correct though. It's probaby 50/50 around my way. I never used to like white but I do like the crisp-ness of a clean white car. My other car (family estate - a late Seat Exeo Sport) is also white! Sounds a nice spec yours, did you go manual or dsg?
