busy now?? i cant handle any more shite tv tonight......

anyone else shed any light on the likelyness of the whole engine needing rebuilding? i have £2k that can be spent...thats not going to get me a 24v properly installed is it?
-
yeah, shall be driving slow and watching the gauges like a hawk. the engine may be knakered......getting a second opinion next week.
-
im in southampton mate. and as for the bores being glazed......i dont know. im going to see steve at pitstop/gwerks next week so he can actually run a few tests on the engine....cos they didnt bother. all in its about £2k......im guessing a 24v conversion is more than that?
-
£45 + vat per hour..... going to give the phirm a call in the morning. near on £2k in the first week of ownership is pretty good going...and thats assuming i can pickup all the parts i need for £700

ok, so ive owne4d it a little more than 24 hours. on the way home the misfire got worse and when sat in a jam on the m3 it was uber lumpy. so today ive had the plugs and leads changed at autotechnik in southampton. theyve taken one look at the plugs and told me the bores are glazed. theres oil leaking from the side of the block above the alternator and some from around the dizzy. the plug/lead change has transformed the car.....but still not to quite how it was on the test drive. i guess what im asking is.......how likely is it that the bottom end is fucked? theyre quoting me 25 hours for a rebuild, top and bottom end. which is fair enough if it needs doing. the car is on 98 k and has had one middle aged hindu solicitor owner....i cant imagine him abusing the poor thing. someone say something nice/reasuring to calm me down?

gotta say..loving the vr6 :D will be even better when it doesnt run like a sack of squirrels on crack. new spark plugs and HT heads this arvo methinks.....
-
will post up some pictures of the new car in the gallery later :D

the general consensus from installers ive spoken to is that autowatch arent as well made as they could be, and toad/cobra are both very similar. we all know whats gonna happen now, im gonna get there to pick the car up and there IS going to a cat1 fitted....
-
congratulations on bitter response of the day. ive had old autowatch and old cobra.....theres a fair chance that people on here have had new stuff. i was only asking you know, gaining knowledge through shared expeirince...sheesh
-
ok, ive elimintaed clifford cos i just dont like them. the choices now are a toad ai606 ,autowatch 160rli or a cobra 8188/8186. roughly the same price/same features ive had autowatch and cobra before but not toad. read somehting on here about problems with cobra alarms and corrados? and been warned that autowatch might not be made as well as they could be. the more i read the more confused i get.....please help?!
-
ive just been offered a bit of a deal on a plain H+R lowering kit so might go for that as im not that keen on putting it in the weeds...
-
looks like you got a bit of a bargain! does it really need a respray? would a cut back and polish not do the trick?? about £75 for a decent bodyshop to do it....
-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1 is anyone running these? if so, whats the ride like please?? is that price any good? can i ask anymore questions in one post? who is that masked man!?

big_chris1981 replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
what an arse bandit.......i think it would be rude not to send a couple of lads around....just to clear the air like. -
mayeb someone was eating yogurt whilst hangliding?

if your going for the lupo, get a 1.4 sport. the petrol is more drivable than the diesel and tends to come with extra toys as dealers used them for demo. on the insurance front theres not alot of difference between the 1.0 and the 1.4.
-
if were gonna have a name and shame, id like to nominate citygate of high wycombe as the biggest crooks of them all. the first lupo gti i owned, they crashed, lied to me, and then tried to fill the aluminium wing on a brand new car with bodyfiller. then refused to give my money back.....and then found out that im not a particularly nice person.....
-
did anything happen about this?
-
so whats been established is: (1) you get what you pay for (2) the lower you go, no matter how good your suspension is, it bets a bit harch on bad roads. (3) weitecs, konis, h&r and bilstien are all good, and the FK's are alright that about sum it up? :D
-
ive found a pansonic tounch screen digi job that does a choice of 8 colours :D just need to car to put it in now. i hate waiting for things :(
-
