I just might have to do that the way pay rises (or the lack thereof) are going these days! Yeah that's exactly what used to happen to me. Foot down in 4th gear at 3000rpm........the way it used to pull 10 car lengths on tailgaters in an instant made me laugh every time  If ever there was a mod I did to my Corrado that completely exceeded expectations and kept my interest, it was the turbo! I didn't get to race that many exotic cars. The E90 M3 I told you about, a Gallardo that couldn't pull away from me, an RS5 etc. They weren't arse kickings, just even stevens. The only 2 cars that handed me my arse was an ancient 911 and a Focus ST  Both massively modified obviously, but fair game, you can't win em all :D 148.7% agreed on the brakes. You definitely need them and I find them just as addictive as boost, if not more so! You are lucky, an oil leak on the Mocal is a tiny teething problem! My Mocal leaked as well but I ended up removing it anyway as it was over-cooling the oil over winter. Try some PTFE tape on the union, that usually helps.

Oh and I also got this bonkers bright Exposure Reflex MK2 front light and Exposure Flare rear combo. Superb quality and I like supporting small English companies :thumbleft: Yes these are expensive but trust me, if you've done night trails and experienced the cheap Chinese torches (that all the bike forums recommend) and seen how shyte they are, you'll appreciate these even more!

First ride on my new bike on Sunday, a Giant Anthem X1 29er, and the front fork failed  I thought Fox CDT shocks were supposed to be good? It went straight back to the shop after I finished the trail (front fork in lock out mode, otherwise twigs and leaves bottomed it out), so that's back with Giant to sort. Bloody good bike for the money otherwise. Really nice geometry and that Maestro rear pivot feels superb. 29" wheels just eat the trails and my mate on his 26er Trek Fuel was lagging way behind  Not in the same league as Maff's above (look at all that juicy fork travel!!) but I like it :D

I'm a bit slow with the old movies as I don't frequent cinemas….. Gravity - Better than expected. Just like Open Water & 127 hours, I was expecting a very basic "I'm stuck in space" plot to be drawn out over 2 hours, but it was actually full of action and plot. And hats off to the UK team who created the CGI. Awesome. 9 / 10 Bender's Game - Hmmmm. Good CGI but what is it with teenagers trying to act?! I know they have to start somewhere, but it just doesn't seem to work for me! Harrison Ford is getting more and more wrinkled and grumpy, so he should hang up his Indy hat now I think. And the ending was just odd. 5 / 10. Elysium - Better than expected, but some truly awful acting from some A listers, such as Jodie Foster's shonky French / weird accent and ultra wooden direction. 6 / 10. Thrush - Again, better than expected, but the CGI of Lauda's fireball crash was terrible and how did a decapitated driver scene make it through the 15 rating?! "The Omen" was nearly banned for something similar!! 7 / 10 Thor 2 - Better than the first one I felt. Pretty good and Natalie Portman is maturing nicely, mmmmm :) 8 / 10

Explains how you can afford a turbo conversion  Only kidding, your financial status is none of mine. I do remember the care free contractor days though, well, care free until it came to doing my VAT returns and Corporation tax....that I'd spent.....on turbos. Ooops  You must have some annihilation stories for us by now, or are you still treading carefully in the honeymoon period? :D

Help OBD1 VS OBD2 Shrick VGI.....How to tell?
Kevin Bacon replied to Hofmiester's topic in Engine Bay
OBD1 throttle body is bigger bore and yep, bigger bolts too. If you offfer up your OBD1 throttle, you'll be able to tell immediately but the good news is the throttle flange is available in OBD1 and OBD2 flavours seperately. -
Was it a DSG TT? Might be interested in the DSG box / ECU / looms if they're still around!
-
Yeah dry is OK so long as you don't dump the clutch off the line and the keep your foot flat down :D Wet is more of a challenge shall we say, but you'll soon see! I had the 3.68 final drive in mine (along with the quaife) and it felt a little torque steery on uneven B roads. That's the only 'fighty' bit about it I found. Bring on the SQS!
-
The VR6 one is a universal filter (CDA85-150) and the TT/S3 one is specific because the MAF bolts directly to it as per the stock air box. The vehicle specific ones are more money.

Haha, you won't be saying that about the Racelogic in the wet :D Glad you're enjoying the car and got on with the boys at Stealth. They are among a handful of the old school VW shops who are still genuine enthusiasts, unlike the others who've focussed on mailorder and maximising profits. That boost + big stoppers is quite an intoxicating blend and there's nothing quite like big capacity, 6 cylinder boost either. That amount of grunt from a VAG 4 pot would come with a monumental amount of lag. A VRT is like a GT car. A smooth cruiser that turns into a 911 when stoked. You'll get used to the Helix. I think I found the judder occurred at around 1200rpm, and compared to other uprated clutches, it's very mild judder. I just made sure the clutch was up before or after that rpm and it was always smooth. I give you 3 months before you'll be asking questions about turning the boost up ;) Yeah you need the R32 mate. Nothing performance related fits the 2.8! People are running a bar of boost into the R32 intake comfortably. It's a lot stronger than the 2.8s.

They match the equally horrible front grille I suppose! I think the guys thought your Speedos were 16s :)
-
Definitely the money draining from your account  It will be a LOT faster than standard with all that done. Just the shorter gearing on it's own is a great mod. You should stick a Wavetrac in their whilst it's in bits.

I was speaking to Jon earlier to book my car in and he said you schitt yourself

Gotta hand it to VW, they do have a good eye for what wheels suit their cars. MK2 16V, Corrado VR6, MK4 R32, MK5 GTI, all classic and spot on choices. Their regular wheel man / lady must have been on holiday when they chose these though....

Rog's Rado... The smile is back :)

5 brown sheets isn't so bad. Cheaper than ARPs after all then. It's really not a good idea reusing stretch bolts. You can get away with it on some suspension bolts, but with a crank spinning round at 7000rpm, not worth the risk for the sake of 50 quid imo! -
Hmmm, I'm not sure those recessed cookie cutter rims suit Corrados tbh. Corrados are so fickle with wheels it's untrue and it's always the classic and simple designs that suit them best.
-
I stumbled onto those whilst searching for 17s that would clear R32 brakes and saw immediate Corrado potential! Their 7 spoke rims are really nice too, but 18" only sadly. A quality brand, takes OEM wheel caps and weighs only 7.9kg, which is very light for an 8x17. Awesome GTI sell them for £1K a set, which isn't cheap, but not a rip off either imo. Doesn't appear to be a plain silver option though unfortunately, but that's nothing a spray gun can't fix :D If I still had a Corrado, I'd have ordered a set the second I saw them!
-
I think something like this would suit a Corrado - http://www.neuspeed.com/34/24/0/2889/880502s-rse05-light-weight-wheel.html

It's not so much of a 'kick' (I think VTEC has kind of over egged that pudding), but more of a noticable surge to the redline compared to standard. Honestly mate, you're only getting half the picture at the moment. A stealth racing map will bring it all together!
-
If they're 17s, HEAVY!
-
So if 3 points makes you lose your license, you get an extra bonus 2 points as punishment? Or you got 5 points because you were driving without a license. i.e banned? If the latter, very brave of you to admit to that on a car forum, lol!

Yeah they look OK. -
Haha, if I applied myself to other areas of my life like I have done messing with VWs, I'd be a rich man by now  Nah, seriously, I just read things, play with things, break things and it all sticks in my head. Yeah that 4000 dip is really hard to shift even with mapping. R32s do the same thing. We used to use a chap called [email protected] for our throttles. He basically took the stock throttle, bored it out a few mm and fitted a bigger plate to match. This is what a proper big throttle is. Not like those polished ones you see on ebay. OBD1 has enough meat in the body to do that, but OBD2 doesn't and you can't strip an OBD2 throttle anyway as the spindle is spot welded to the cable quadrant. Gits!! It's all good info :D
