305mm Brembos will sit behind 15" Compomotive MOs.
-
Yeah I know, I wasn't being entirely serious :D And if people do have enough surplus cash to pay £500 for a silly plaque, they have no right to plead poverty and bitterly complain when petrol goes up 3p a litre!
-
I'd wager she was updating her Facebook status.... "Just about to crash, LOL"
-
Kind of pointless then if you ask me. Nothing more than a tacky marketing ploy by VW. 'Proper' limited edition runs have a plaque rivetted to the slam panel. Not some doublesided taped on thing with some random number on it :D

But why is car no. 1288 missing it's dog tag anyway? So it's a completely worthless item to anyone other than the owner of car 1288! I think it's time ebay introduced the pricing police and ban users for being so utterly ridiculous.

Thinking of buying an MG TF 160, anyone had one ?
Kevin Bacon replied to daleyboy's topic in General Car Chat
They handle really well but the later VVT ones can be a bit of a handful in the wet, just watch the loud pedal. My mate lost his that way. It was a wet day and he was showing off at a cross-roads, giving it some beans whilst turning right to get the tail out, but he hit a patch of wet leaves and his lack of opposite lock skills meant the car mounted the pavement and then came to rest in a concrete fence post. I absolutely p1ssed myself. Stupid tool  And the craziest of coincidence's happened 1 minute later. A mate coming up the road saw us and the wrecked car, rubber necked and drove into the back of a car waiting at the lights  As for the HGs, that's ancient history. Rover revised the head gasket a long time ago to the 3 layer metal type. The only problem is if the liners have sunk. No amount of quality head gasketry will give a good enough seal. Good engines the K series. Even the little 1.4 can rev way past 7K and can do 100hp/litre easily. Try getting that from a VW engine of the same vintage! -
What would You pay for privat plate VRT 12V ??
Kevin Bacon replied to emu's topic in General Car Chat
I would never buy a personalised plate. Why give thieves, coppers, chav racers & road ragers an easy to remember plate and a clue as to what's under the bonnet? -
Womens spacial awareness, judgement of speed and night vision are worse than mens on the whole. That isn't sexism, it's a biological fact :D They take fewer risks too and will, for example, pull into the left lane for a dual carriageway turn-off 3 miles back instead of taking a chance on there being a gap further up. Still, the way the roads are these days it's a miracle we don't all have a prang every day.

Yeah the indicators thing is defo in the top 5 "Things you hate about other drivers" list. It's so common now I'm wondering if it's a "no one else indicates, so why should I?" thing? 'Monkey see, Monkey do'. Where driving in Britain is concerned, two wrongs definitely seem to make a right. Except when it comes to insurance claims. Every car forum is full of schitt driving threads these days. It does feel like a massive asylum of zombies has been freed and given car keys at the moment.

Finally finished the corrado, got a few issues
Kevin Bacon replied to Jim Bowen's topic in General Car Chat
Handbrake warning light switch is on the floor under the handbrake lever IIRC. Mine got stuck down once, many moons ago. As already mentioned, the brake warning light is also shared with the fluid level sender....I think! God my rado knowledge is rapidly fading now I don't have one! ABS - hmmm, it always worries me when people cut the light out as it usually means something more drastic than a failed wheel sensor but as said already, VAG-COM will tell you what's what. Oil temp - I'd replace the sender or check the connection. Clutch biting point - Yeah it will be low if the clutch is new / recent. You probably just forgot about it if you've been roaming around in that Escort for a while? :D I prefer a low biting point as it makes traffic work nicer. A really high bite means the clutch is on it's way out! -
Yeah but how many belts has VR6 got? I bet he's got a few spangly pink ones for his 'boys' nights.
-
Absolutely. Women have fought for equal rights for decades and now that they have it, they're still not happy! That was a joke before all ye pretty dames come at thee with yo pitch forks  The biggest problem is the drivers who consider themselves to be "safe" (male and female) because they don't break the speed limits. But they cause accidents in other ways and are completely ignorant to it. Such as poor observation, failing eye sight, lack of confidence, poor lane discipline, etc etc and some more exceteras. In a bag. Plus an egg.

Modern car headlights... is it just me?
Kevin Bacon replied to Critical_Mass's topic in General Car Chat
After selling my Corrado and getting back up to a normal height again, I've noticed any blinding lights. -
Do people actually go and view / test drive cars anymore? Or do they now want a 5 page dossier on it's history before they'll get off their arses and take a punt like in the good old days? The starting times sound absolutely normal for a VR6.
-
Yeah they're not bad. Even though I can only dream of 16Mb (or even 4), they did at least remove the cap from my monthly download limit and reduced the cost by a fiver a month.

Does anyone else feel like rebooting their life?
Kevin Bacon replied to Portent's topic in Off-topic Chat
Ignorance is bliss as they say :D The best memories of my life are also ones of poverty and the lowest paid jobs etc. I was chatting to a mate the other day about our old job at an insurance company and comparing it to where we work now. We were on something silly like £15K in 1997, but it was easily the most rewarding job I've had to date. Even on that low salary I was able to mortgage a 1 bedroom flat, drive a car (MK2 16V) and go out, have a laugh etc. I personally can't even begin to imagine even existing on such a small amount now, but I know it's possible as my girlfriend has to. And that, imo, is the problem with society today. It seems not many people make the most of, or appreciate what they've got. Instead they constantly strive to keep up with the Jones's , whether they can afford it or not. Every time I see a stupid "essex white" Audi A3 with LED DRLs, it just makes me cringe. Cars like that and the Range Rover Evoque are clear evidence of how materialistic the western world has become. If people were more content and happy with what they had, it's almost a certainty the world wouldn't be in the mess it's in now. And if any woman in my life had a "grow a pair" attitude toward me, after providing for her, she'd be shown the door immediately. -
It is easy to convert to LPG. Check out November's copy of PPC mag for details ;)

The Tyre Discussion Thread - please read 1st post
Kevin Bacon replied to dukest's topic in Drivetrain
Good stuff! I hope the Klebers work out to be as good as that. The Alfa has enough torque to activate the traction control coming out of junctions, so I guess it's relatively performance-ish :D I loved driving the Rado on winter tyres. The combo of VR6 weight on the driven wheels and good tyres = actually moving forwards! The 2010/11 winter saw loads of soft roaders and practically every Merc / BMW parked up on verges but the Rado was totally unphased, even up icey hills. I'll never drive in winter on summer tyres again! -
Smells better than your lass's joints too.

And £61 per month for 8GB. For that price it should be bloody unlimited!! 500mb on 4G will be utterly useless. A month's allowance wiped out in minutes. Such a con.
-
I think for that kind of money he'd probably snip a bit of material off from an unseen area and graft it into the fag hole! The only other way to do is to recover the entire section, which would cost considerably more than 4 brown sheets!
-
For 40 quid I'd let him do it personally!

Cool, thanks! As I say, the car only has to last until May and then it's meeting it's maker :D Interestingly, the A001 didn't fare so well in this test - http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2012-Auto-Bild-All-Season-Tyre-Test.htm But the second place tyre gets an absolute slating on the same site. Bloody online reviews aren't worth schitt are they?! :D Yeah the fronts are down to around 1mm on the front, so traction out of junctions is comical! ---------- Post added at 11:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 AM ---------- I've gone for Kleber Quadraxers. I'll let you know what they're like. Seem to get quite good reviews and they tyre place bloke said he's got them on his car and rates them. £80 each was a bit more than I wanted to spend but I'd rather stay on the road this winter, even if it is a car I don't give a sheet about! -
I have a stone chipped front VR6 badge in red, and I'd like £356.88p for it. It would easily fetch £567 on ebay, so that's a bargain!
