  1. Not completely smoothed off, it's got a rubber bung in the hole. Figured I could live without the rear wiper if I put rain-x on it but I didn't want to get it fully smoothed in case I wanted/needed to put it back on again. Had actually forgotton about that one, explains why I'm quite so happy with the smooth look!! :)
  2. I've got the same thing. Just happens occasionly but when I start, unless I keep my foot on the throttle to keep the engine speed up it dies. After a couple of miles it'll idle, but around 400rpm instead of the more usual 900. It'll stay like that for another few miles, then once fully warm it'll be ok. Reading what I've jsut written it sounds like it could be something to do with the autochoke or warm up regualtor??? Anyone got any thoughts on this????
  3. They were done with a tinting spray before I got the car. Looks ok(ish) but when funds allow I want to do something else with them. Not sure what though as it looks like there's only the in-pro aftermarket lights available (plus the mod advertised on this board somewhere of greyish tapey stuff over the top half of the lights). Want something that is subtle, yet effective so it doesn't end up looking like a Saxo!!
  4. It was colour coded, so it didn't show that much, but I think it looks better without anyway. A few people have said they liked it, so I'm happy... :D
  5. Don't think it was a 'chrome Corado'. Not entirely sure what a chrome one was, but I take it that it had chrome trim on it? Haven't found any yet!
  6. Smooth that is. Just had a few dings smoothed out on the wheel arches and while I was at it, I asked the bodyshop to take off the Corrado badge, VW badge and smooth the seams at the back. I'm quite happy with the result... What do you guys think???? (looks better in the flesh!)
  7. And the earth lead should be as short as possible. And route the signal and power cables seperatley through the car otherwise you might pick up noise from the alternator through the cables...
  8. Which warranty? They year one?? Was talking to a mate about this one, and there's a little know EU directive thing which states manufacturers must give 2 years warranty on all electrical goods... Obviously most manufacturers haven't publicised this a huge amount, but if you trawl through your EU rights as a consumer, print out the relevant part and take it along to your dealer then you should stand better ground at getting it sorted... Of course I found this out 25 months after I bought the stereo. D'oh!!!!
  9. Only other thing I can think of is from a safety point of view. If, heaven forbid, you stack it and knock yourself out, then people outside can't easily get in to pull you out. The same could be said for anti-hijack systems which auto-lock the doors, but at least then you break the window, pull up the catch (which is pretty much where it is on any car) and yank the handle. If there's no handle there to yank then they've got to reach in through the shattered window and fumble about for the internal door release... Could take extra precious seconds....

  11. I had exactly the same problem. I phoned round a few dealers and finally got put in touch with the people that make the components. It cost £18 for a new ribbon which was mailed out to me, then about an hour of soldering and fettling with a screwdriver, and all is now ok with it. Design fault really, the way it bends and creases the ribbon, but what can ya do about it.....
  12. My pioneer did the same, where the flip front for it moved it wore away the ribbon. After a fair bit of phoning round different suppliers I managed to get in touch with the company that made the ribbon. Shelled out £18 and spent an hour soldering it in and now it works fine again....
