Well thats what the missues thinks anyway... :? But I've now managed to get hold of some 6.5" door builds (Cheers Darren (8vG60)) so what speakers is everyone running, and what would you reccomend?? Cheers!

I've found an almost totally dead battery will just click the solenoid, making a rapid clicking noise. A fast whirring noise means the starter might be a bit sitcky and when it's spun it doesn't come out of it's housing to connect with the flywheel. This happened to me, so I popped the started off, cleaned off all the gunk from it and lubed it up, and it doesn't happen anymore... :D

Going back to the electrics... Have you tried running a wire straight from the battery to the motor to check the motor is actually willing to move? If it moves then there's a problem with the wiring somewhere... Just to ask as stupid question, you have tried the fuse??? :? :?

I was pleasantly surprised to the point of asking if they'd made a mistake (cue the adverts plastered all over the walls) A hose from the top of the radiator to the block was £6 + VAT. Not too bad.... 8)

Got new upgrated bushes for the front wishbones do to go on soon. I've got some spare wishbones to press the mounts into, they say the washer side of the mount has to go on the flared edge of the wishbone which is ok, but then which way up does it then go onto the car. Does the flared edge go up, or down when it's on the car??

Whats up with the Clifford? Mine died on me and refused to disarm, started with the blipper not working, so each time I got into the car I had to do the override switch for it and put it into Valet. Eventually even the valet mode started playing up, so I took it back to the garage I bought it from and Clifford replaced the brain in it. Might be worth contacting clifford, or at least the garage that had it fitted?

Sounds good. Which rear door handles fit on a C then??? Most Golf bits fit on the 16v/G60 C's I think. Ie wishbones, engine parts etc.....

Read in the Sun (yes, that great oracle of knowledge) that the government want to open up the hard shoulder of the motorway as a 'quick way to ease congestion'.... Errr, yeah. Firstly I thought it was there as a safety thing. So if you broke down you could pull over in safety and await a recovery truck who would park up and help, in safety. Secondly, the bit I use, which is one of the worst, A3 to M4 the hard shoulder isn't constant. It'll be there for 2 miles, then disappear for a bridge or tunnel for a bit, then reappear again. So people in the hard shoulder would have to move over, back into the inner lane again to get round the missing hard shoulder, meaning the same sort of problems you get at all the junctions. All the signs, when there's congestion, say 'Stay in lane' as that eases it a bit. This is impossible with this new system. All of this doesn't really matter though as no-one uses the inner lane anyway. The outside lane is where you hang out if you're really cool...

Think I might well take a trip down there. Live in Dorking, so everyone that travels more than 10 miles to get there puts me to shame!!! See ya'all there....

That install looks really good Hans. Nice one. What size MDF did you use? 18mm? I've got something similar in my boot, but I'm not going to post a pic as it's quite, no, very, crappily finished! Just bodged it together to hold the amps and sub in place without really making a note of the dimensions. Gunna do it properly soon....

Whats the 'passive seatbelt' system then?? :?

Can you describe more the weird noise? Scraping, whining, bumping, grinding, knocking...???

I'm sure I've read somewhere about windows that you connect to the electric supply. At the flick of a switch the windows are tinted, flick the switch back and they're clear again. Not sure where I read about it though as it was a while ago but it would be amusing to be pulled over for tints only for them to magically dissapear before the officers eyes.....

What car is it for? (don't say Corrado!! I mean, 2L16v VR?? ) I know that for SOME C's you can fit a Golf brace on there, but on others the engine fouls it and it needs an extra few bends in it. I've seen a few with the brace on though, so there are some about...

Mine ran about 108 on the way in today which was gentle motorway driving. Has been known to barely get above 90 and on other times get up to about 120. Water temps generally stay around 90-95deg...

I've got a 16v, but the thoughts there all the same....
-
Nice. If you've no objections, that's going on a t-shirt with a rood picture of my C...

On another car which didn't have the cable I just spliced it onto the one for sidelights. I think the Corrado has the correct wire though, so this shouldn't be necessary...

Movement from the drivetrain wasn't the best description... When I brake, and when I then accelerate (only when I move away from standstill) I can feel that the rubber's disintegrating as it feels like the wheel moves slightly. It clonks slightly then, and more noticably when on full lock to get out of my drive. It did this before I changed the wishbones originally, stopped once the new ones were in, and now they're going again, it's started again. Makes the handling sloppy as well which isn't nice. Got some nice purple polyeurothane ones to go on though, which is nice... :)

Yeah, no-rice meets are pretty good so I've heard, but for some reason I've been utterly lame and not made it to any. Considering they're a 20 minute drive from my door there's really no excuse. Next month I'll be there!! Check out http://www.no-rice.co.uk for info....
-
Try the wishbone mounts. Mine are on the way out (4 months old from ECP, hooray... - getting refund though...) and it's started to clonk a little. What about when you accelerate, can you feel any movement from the drivetrain?

Sorry, I live in Surrey. Leatherhead/Dorking area...

What day is this then? I'm going up on the Sunday... But one thing I don't understand is why everyone's leaving so damn early!! It'll be at the most 2 hours to get there from Jnct 10 (A3, I think!) Whats the benifit of getting there at 8.30 am?? Trying to get some non-dubbers along in my car and they seem well up for it until I mention the 6am start!! (can't think why!)
-
Cool. I've been driving it about a fair bit now, both sitting in traffic and at 100mph (on private roads of course ;)) and it tends to get to 110 then back down to 106 or so. Max so far is 116, but it didn't stay there for long, so I guess it's under control. Might well get a low temp thermoswitch... Take it thats for the radiator to turn it on sooner....

Now I may be being stupid here, but where is the blue coolant connector? The only thing I can think of thats blue and is a connector is on the end of the injection rail, next to the thing which hums when the ignitions on... (technical eh!) Where would I find this mystical blue connector??
