  1. keep us posted my shifter a bit to the left and i need to adjust it myself.
  2. make up your own its cheaper and would only take a bit of time. Just watch out for brake fulid its not nice. Firstly doublecheck whats its failed on, it may not be leaking at all and may have just failed on clips or corrosion /bulges /leaks on the rubber ones. If its clips easily sorted. If its the hoses (gently get them off) and replace them with new ones only £7 a side. Good luck.
  3. The wries not coming from t he headlight but it was right near headlight so when i looked at it originally in dark i thought it was that one now thinking i better check in case its off something like a fan. Ive got a loom but no time to fit as mot is tommorow and it took most of yerterday to sort handbrake and release brake bias valve etc... I also have worrying a feeling after looking at the wiring i may have a loom already (can't see te relay but have couple of inline fuses which dont look original and are in same config as loom). If i do the lights are stil sh"t so i may need to look at new bulbs etc.. Im going to try and trace where the earth connects to and maybe run an earth from a clean bit of wire there to battery terminal (got a spare cable i made up for testing with crocidle clip at either end see if that'll get me through mot as i can see any visible difference so must be bad earth. Can someone experienced please advise me if this is a really bad idea coz im not sure on my science behind this.
  4. scatch that its blue and whit wire thats cut. i physically cannot see any difference between the lights.
  5. bad earth on n/s headlight urgent help needed. When i put it in for the mot the output on the n/s was not enough to pass. It does light but it was suggested it has a bad earth. The only visible thing i can see is that a wire coming out of the light is not even connected to anything. I think its brown so therefore that would be the earth but surely without an earth it wouldn't light at all and i can't find the other part of this wire so its as though it was never connected (if it was i ahve sneaking suspsicion mot guy snipped it either by accident or intentionally. Any ideas i have no idea on h/light wiring, also where would you run the earth to the batt or engine block? Please help as mot is booked in again for tuesday and im working monday. cheers, sorry if this has been posted before i can't find anything thats specific enough about the actual headlight.
  6. yep pity cant get a full respray out of it. The buggers have only just started to fill the holes in today. argh! So the summary is you cannae trust anyone these days even the polis are thieves lol.
  7. I had a quick scan over it may have a new scratch on door about an inch long but i dont know if that was there before they moved it (s ome fecker may had done it whilst it was sitting). I dont know how they moved it but it must have been a crane lift see if i find out theve f*cked my handsbrake by dragging it onto a truck ill kick their ass. Definite complaint letter going in. What a freaky day.
  8. found it wahey! was parked on a nearby street (well nearish about 4 streets away) they moved all the cars there so we found them all but what a palava that was , biggest game of wheres wally ive ever played. Anyway decided not to move it (push it or tow it incase anyone wonders) as they are digging up so many streets round here. Only got to look forward to a day without water tommorow. Couldn't work on the car and it was such lovely weather too (cold but sunny).  Roads closed till sunday and its near a football grounds argh!!!!
  9. tried the other number. Im going to take a walk down to poilce station later but at the mo im waiting on me mum whos coming to visit what a day.
  10. car has tax but no MOT and no its not been taken away coz of that. literally the water board musta stuck up notices last night about moving cars then lifted them this morning so they could dig their holes we got no notice what so ever. I stayed over at may mates house so wasn't home this morning and theve all gone. my neighbours brand newish volvo has been lifted too... argh tried the number again same scenario - no answer.
  11. Sorry as for holes the water board are diging it up but aint given us any notice. I thought thats what the number was for as its strathy police that have lifted them all. thankfully id dont need mine the now (was going to book it in for mot though ). argh!!!
  12. I live in glasgow and dont use my car at all at the moment and have been currently doing it up for an mot (got valid road tax). Anyways i went to work on monday went out to my mates and came back this morning to find my car gone and big holes in the road, same happened to my neighbour. No notice no nothing. there now a letter with a number on it stuck to our door but its for the wrong f'in street . Also the number rings out and gets to answerphone which says mailbox fulll. ARGHHH!!!!!!! Maybe i should just have let that guy have me car for £500 after all.... JUST THOUGHT ID SHARE MY DISTRESS .
  13. no it doesn't go out and its supposed o be warning (in the night i guess) to oncoming drivers that a cars parked there. dunno how youd miss a car if the oncoming car had their lights on though lol.
  14. def not a fault mate just parking light.
  15. Pics can be found at http://neurochef.co.uk/car/ ok firstly sorry if this is in the wrong area. As some people may have know i put my car up for sale last year because i wasn't sing it. Im still not using it but decided to keep it as a "toy" ie just use it on occasional weekend (not a good idea folks). Due to a further change my 1.8 16v corrado ended up hardly moving all winter. Anyway still runs happily enough but im now tempted again to sell as its breaking my heart to see the car sit and not be used ( i just can't use it for work as theres no parking etc.. and apart from the occasioanl weekend ive no need to use anything bar public trans). Anyway i thought to myself ill mot it again (as mot had ran out) and see how i feel after this , thinking if i drive her a few times ill just go back to going for runs / blasts (otherwise known as wasting petrol :) ) . Now i know the cars not worth a lot but i dont want it going to some nova jerk down the road and the moment wouldn't like to break it. anyway back to the point it failed mot and the guy who did the mot did quite a number see below: parking brake lever no reserve travel - what? would adjust cable sort this? or is it two new cables time? rear brake load sensing valve linkage seized - soak it and work it? i dont know much about this bit parking brake efficiency below requiremnts aparently one caliper did not come at all with parking break , cable or work caliper? Oh btw all brakes work with footpedal - passed fine. fog lamps didnt work - what a d*ck he didnt put the switch on till it was lit up hence didnt work - ahem. wipers not cleaning screen properly - bend them in and change blades nearside front headlight light output reduced - bad earth? lights not secure - one clip on each light has snapped but i fixed with a glass fibre bond but the b pulled it and snapped it so it now moves about 2mm see pics , im going to araldite them and put a a metal plate on each to reinforce. fuel cap washer deterioated - what a b*s**rd , see pics front to rear brake pipes inadequately clipped - he told me the clips were still there just needed clipped in what a b , see above comment. Anyway could someone please read the above and give me an opinon on A: whether what im suggesting to fix these problems is right and would pass mot. B: Whether they think its worth it or not, ie keeping as a just for fun car , im not using the car much at all the now and have no need for one living in the city. At the mo im tempted to sell to the next decent person who gives me a decent hard cash offer for it providing their not a nova jerk boy racer. anyway rant over . Mods if theres a more suitable area please move my post as its mainly handbrake it failed on i posted it her.
  16. just watch the bleed nipple i just snapped mine on the o/s caliper .... F$$$ ahem I may need help
  17. just in case anyone ever has ssame symptoms check the alternator alignment as although it did not look off to the eye or anything it was very slightly off (we are talking mm here) and this is what was causing it to snap. just for anyone lese who has this prob ive now been running 3 months + without fault
  18. push clip in on dizzy cap and spring clip off top repeat on bottom. mark where dizzy is positioned (you could use permanent marker or tipex) , unplug sensor undo the two 10mm (i think) bolts. put new one on lining up marks and its pretty much the reverse. btw i have my old spare dizzy in the for sale /swap.
  19. is the passat roof any better cause ive got the old tilt but wont go back problems. ta
  20. some have an actual connector . But a lot of "ipod ready" units are just a rip off and are just a mini jack input. be wary when checking out what facilities it offers.
  21. almost always the cable. work the calipers anyway try and loosen them up though as if its been sitting they may be stiff and but its more likely to be stretched handbrake cable. about £8 a side and easy enough to replace.
  22. just to let people know long nose pliers twist it nad chisel to get it out. :-)
  23. have now secured some pulleys from a car that was getting broke any ideas on where to get new bolts for the pulleys? thanks
  24. have now decided to change pulleys after having to use a pair of tights to get home argh!!! will update again if i can get my hands on some any ideas what other cars have the same fitment and pulleys so i can go to my local scrappy and have a hoke? wanted: looking for cheap pulleys that alt belt goes round. dont need alternator pulley. new or used so long as straight and true
  25. surely id be able to physically move them if the bearings or pulley was naffed/loose they dont have any play. im curious about warped pulleys though ill need to have a closer look again oh and its not doing it all the time. back to the drawing board
