  1. If you only paid £20 for it, would you scrap it as soon as it needed a tank of fuel?!
  2. Definitely not worth 5 grand. Maybe if it was pristine and 1995 with leather, aircon and not green. Personally I wouldn't pay a penny more than £1,750 and even then I would want a stack of history/receipts with it.
  3. What's his asking price?
  4. You get what you pay for generally. I haven't had one but from what I know I would want to budget around £2k for a half decent job. And don't forget you'll no doubt have a load of seals and other bits and pieces to replace as well.
  5. £3k if it's superb condition and lots of history. £2k is probably more ballpark though for an earlier VR with no leather and not the most desirable colour. But again if condition is generally very good.

 We should start a new saying along those lines. From now on anything sick/ill relating to Corrado parts can be said to have 'spine cancer'.
  7. Need to be registered I think ...
  8. Hehe cheers matey, that was my concern, what with my chicken wrists an' all! Will have a think :)
  9. What size is the face Jim? The watch that is :)

It's like looking at a mother and daughter next to each other.
  11. Moved your post over into a new thread Stuey. http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?75350-2003-VW-Polo-E-1-9-SDi&goto=newpost
  12. Closing then if you're selling on Ebay instead.
  13. There's no need to create multiple threads. Just edit this one.
  14. Welcome to the forum
  15. Isn't that a contradiction? Long bite point = new clutch. Higher it bites = older/more worn. ??
  16. It wasn't a planned photo but even though the Golf is slightly in the distance I think the attached pic shows how big cars have got these days! I think it could be the thermostat as it seems to take quite a while to get up to temp as well but I wouldn't rule out the other senders. It's got a great history but I can't see a recent clutch so I don't mind replacing it. It doesn't feel particularly great and there's about 3 foot of travel before the biting point. MPG I'm talking about less than 15 just running around town. Which I know isn't accurate. I know you should take these estimates with a pinch of salt but that can't be right. The Evo probably does better!! I'm off to Greece for a week tomorrow so the car's going to my mechanic for a holiday. There's not much he doesn't know about Golfs having owned at least 30 of them. I think I'll explain the problems and let him crack on :)
  17. Looking good Mike :afro: Just picked her up tonight actually. Really like it so far :) Turns a few heads! Water temp gauge doesn't seem to move - could be the thermostat or a dodgy temp sender. Think it could do with a new clutch. Few squeaks and rattles to track down. MPG seems to be a bit too low on the MFA - not sure if it's running a bit rich. Patch of rust on the driver's door and some paint needed on the sunroof. But apart from that, she's in pretty fine fettle!
  18. I've just phoned Peter D James on Kip's advice and they seemed ok with the fact that the Golf won't be garaged. I think it depends on the postcode though as mine is one of the best seeing as though I'm on the Rock. Sounds like I will get a quote but not sure what yet. ---------- Post added at 2:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:16 PM ---------- £195 for the year ... not too shabby! It beats Admiral by about £60. Thanks Kip :salute:
  19. Cheers Tony, good stuff :salute:
  20. Not got the car yet ... picking it up Friday. The alloys are ok, they don't offend me :) The seats are in really good nick apart from a small cig burn by the driver's crotch. Surely seat covers means you can't enjoy the lovely rainbowyness?? I don't smoke, never eat or drink in the car so I think they should be ok :) ---------- Post added at 7:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:09 PM ---------- Oh .... Schwartz Blue anyone??
