  2. mine tilts fine but the waterplate guides are worn so they dont pull the roof down low enough, so it will scratch if i slide it back oh well ..what are windows for i rather have tilt than slide anyhoo stealers quoted £35 per side for the guides

  13. the roof line is that high you feel like you're in a van ! but yeah i'm sure the vr6 would be a different animal
  14. it wouldnt bother me , with a car that age you need to use your eyes and ears not a piece of paper but the trader will use any excuse to give you a reduced price , so if it wasnt the service history he would probably find something else i've had mk 1 2 3 5 golfs , all gti's apart from the mk5 and i can honestly say the mk3 was the worst, ultra reliable but it felt like an ordinary hatchback, it was that dusky mauve on 17's, lowered with eibach springs , looked nice but sooo boring to drive
  15. it actually looks a little like a nova kit car , vw based :-) http://www.team.net/www/ktud/nova.html
  16. gutted for ya mate , the police are sh1te, yet they can mow down a school of kids to catch you speeding put a wanted ad on ebay roughly describe your car, paperwork not necessary as you intend to use it for track days etc ........ really tho , do you want it back now ?? they are hardly likely to be valeting it :-(
  17. i thought that chris , checked them and they didnt seem particularly hot and no signs of scoring i rang the local vw specialist (wilsons) and they suggested a front engine mount but it seems too severe for that , saving for a vibratechnics its difficult to replicate the forces that the front suspension endures when its jacked up thx chris
  18. this happened to me , firstly check the inline fuse on the loom near the relays , then get someone to switch the lights on and listen for the relay to click no click either bad connection or as in my case the relay is blown ( they do this if they get wet and the contacts corrode for future ref if it is that , i got a length of bike inner tube slid it over the relays and fuses and tie wrapped it ...keeps it dry
  19. definitely isnt a balance thing, it only happens sometimes and when it does its really violent , feels like the wheel is going to come off, it doesnt pull to the left and keep pulling ,it pulls in an on/off fashion (pulsing) going to take a look tomorrow (if it stops bloody raining :-( i've even thought about maybe a cv or the diff trying to seize but it would show signs elsewhere not just once every few days oh well i'll post if i find anything i did find another thread which is exactly the same problem but it has no replies and i cant pm the writer :-(
  20. i'll check that out andy but it sounds different , this is wierd it hasnt done it for the last 120 miles , going to have a look tomorrow cheers
  21. get a storm and mod it the way you like if you intend to keep it, most mods are reversible anyway
