  1. Just gimme a shout if you get stuck.
  2. Water temp gauge needle should usually sit around halfway between min - max, although in traffic jams etc this can rise. Fan should cut in before you get near to the red zone. Ideal oil temp for most engines is around 95-100 degrees although unless you're seeing temperatures of 115+ degrees then don't worry too much. Above 115 degrees the oil begins to loose it's lubrication properties & service intervals will need to be reduced. G60 cooling fan can run for upto 20 minutes after the engine is switched off although I'm not sure if this is the case with a 1.8-16v Did they replace your thermostat when you had the waterpump done - if your car's water temp is running very hot then this may need replacing.
  3.  :D I just read your username explaination.. :study: .. :D
  4. I agree with ']['H3R4POR - supercharger is the only "fragile" part of the engine. Just make sure that it's reconditioned approx every 40,000 - 50,000 miles and you should be okay. Also renew the bolt in the front crank pulley - have occasionally been known to break. Can't understand why your dealer have said what they have - G60's are great cars. :D
  5. someone posted on here last week that the tunnel was a pig to get on and off? Dead easy m8 - I can totally strip the whole tunnel in less than 10 mins !! Don't have to mess around removing seats or anything else. The only difficulty I can imagine anybody having will be removing the leather handbrake handle. Put your finger underneath and at the back of the handle - you will find a little piece of plastic sticking out. Just press this little piece of plastic upwards into the metal handbrake lever & the leather handle will slide off from the front. Although there's absoloutely nothing wrong with routing the cables down the sills - the centre console/handbrake route is far quicker & easier.

    VAG-COM

VAG com is a kind of electronic diagnostic system - similar to (but not the same as) the system used at the main dealers. It works from a laptop computer & plugs into a socket underneath the gear lever housing via an adaptor cable. Information available from it depends entirely on which vehicle type it's connected to. Mainly used for reading fault codes. The main dealer system can also be used for re-programming/altering some of the vehicle software (on newer vehicles), although I don't think this is possible with the Corrado.
  7. Looking good... :D Will the estimate of £500 be for a cooler & complete mounting kit ? What sort of BHP increase can be gained from using this as opposed to the standard setup ?? Haven't fitted my merc cooler yet & may go for one of these instead.. :D
  8. Car looks good & wheels are in great condition... 8)
  9. See :- http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5124
  10. I fitted all my cables along the gear tunnel - underneath the centre console, gear lever surround, handbrake housing & rear armrest. Power cables down the passenger side & signal cables (RCA & speakers) down the drivers side. 2 Amps & sub in the boot (MDF boot floor). 1 amp powering the component front & rear speakers, 1 amp powering the sub. All wires tuck away very well with plenty of space for them underneath the relevent plastic housings.
  11. How about this one......  http://www.findit.co.uk/cars/Volkswagen ... 828629.htm
  12. I feel really small now...  My '92 G60 is one of the later types - VR6 style bonnet, etc and has the cooling ducts fitted from the factory. Other Corrados which I've looked at also had these ducts fitted although I can't specifically remember which engine was fitted. kevhaywire - I was refering mainly to the discs & pads, although I wasn't aware that the master cylinders were different.
  13. All Corrados have brake cooling ducts. G60's share the same braking system as the VR6's. The ducts feed air directly from the front bumper onto the brakes. You should be able to see the ducts if you look inside the front of the wheelarch. Your outside temp sensor will be fitted into one of these ducts (can't remember which side). If the front discs have been warped by excess heat then they will be damaged & require replacement. After hard driving, when the brakes can get really hot, continue driving around for a while to cool the discs down otherwise your new ones will also warp.
  14. Without inspecting the pads, it's fairly difficult to comment on their condition. I would expect them to be okay - provided that there is still plenty of lining left. Discs can be skimmed, but if they're warped it will depend entirely on their condition & degree of warping. Warping is usually caused by overheating - replace them with drilled versions, helps heat dissipation. Also check your brake cooling ducts.

    g60 intercooler

I'm shortly going to be fitting a Mercedes C-class cooler to my G60. It's from a C220 Kompressor. Perfect fit with the custom header tanks that I'm having fitted to it. I don't suppose there is a recognised "most efficient" cooler to use as a replacement. It's more a case of finding a suitable one & technically modifying (bodging) it to fit. If you're going the whole hogg, then the best pipework to use is polished aluminum alloy. This absorbs/retains very little heat as well as looking nice & shiny. Try not to make your pipework too long & don't have any sharp bends in it.
  16. I'd rather risk the stonechips - bras don't do much for me..
  17. Next thing would be to check/replace both LT leads - they're the thin ones which connect to the coil. They can become very fragile with age. Maybe possible to check them using a bulb - they only carry the standard 12v
  18. Definitely not fuel related - you have an electrical problem of some kind Have you checked each individual plug for a spark ?? Dizzy cap & rotor condition ??
  19. Ohh no you don't....
  20. So far as I'm aware the quote is subject to me being a CCGB member & travelling less than 10k per year, although I'm not sure what percentage the extra discount is. This quote is at least £300 cheaper than any of the other insurance companies have been able to manage. Well worth the CCGB annual membership fees...
  21. Cheers leew Have you still got their phone number ??
  22. Good idea Again - good idea, not sure if that would please everyone though. We just need a few of us to get there early. I'll be there on the Friday lunchtime, just like last year.

    VAG-COM

Are there any other companies making this sort of equipment ?? The diagnostic stuff that the dealers use has no problems at all with communication on G60's although the amount of info available is fairly limited.
  24. Maybe worth doing a search on the forum - I'm not sure if it has much of an effect on the VR.
