  1. I use Brembo drilled front disks. Same in every way to the VAG ones - only difference is thay they are drilled to help heat dissipation. Readily available from German, Swedish & French (GSF)
  2. When you lower a car, you effectively give the suspension less room to travel (shorter shocks, springs, etc). Therefore the springs & shocks must be stiffer to stop your suspension from bottoming out when you go over bumps in the road. In short - YES your ride should get progressively harsher the lower you set the suspension. However, if you're thinking of cutting your existing springs down then your suspension will not get any stiffer at all. You will run the risk of hitting the bumpstops on a regular basis though !!
  3. Rather unfortunate choice of picture. Isn't that the abortion with the late Golf headlights ??
  4. Ice White Socks When you're out on the road, your Tyres are the only thing between life & death. Get some decent ones ?? My answer would be yes !! Having said that, my G60 (17" Goodyear Eagle F1's) will wheelspin in 1st & 2nd fairly easily. The deciding factor will be how much grip you want in the corners.
  5. I'd be happy just to paint my needles a pale blue/white colour. They'd be visible day and night then.
  6. I'm sure you may have thought of this and I could be highlighting my ignorance here, would the new dials not thread over the needles and thus eliminate the need to remove them ?? Andi - add me to the list, I'll have a set of those as well
  7. Excellent knowledge & quality of work may well apply to some of the staff there but I can assure you that it certainly does not apply to the guy who serviced & changed the belts on my car, earlier this year. R1 charger now seems okay but I'm rather disappointed at the level of porting carried out. My wish, when I went there, was to have the most heavily ported & efficient charger available for a G60 (price was not a concern). I'm now aware that this is not what I have got.
  8. Sounds logical to me.. Can't really chip & pulley at the same time as the new charger has to be "run in" and needs a few miles for the seals to bed in properly before it will give full boost. I left my R1 for 1k before playing around with various pulleys.
  9. One of them may be mine - I'm in York most weekends
  10. May have to see if Dubsport can do mine - a bit closer than Stealth. All the "specialists" that I've found, so far, in Leeds appear to be "mentally challenged". I think the only difference between them and a scene from "One flew over the cookoo's nest" is the colour of the overalls...
  11. Sounds like you're ANOTHER person who's not happy with J :clown: bb :clown: sport
  12. Is that all they do for a stage 4 ??
  13. The "law abiding" brigade will tell you that you should declare this mod to your insurance. Strictly speaking, then you should. Personaly, I would peel off the Jabbasport sticker & any sticky residue. If the worst happens and they inspect your car it will be far less obvious that the charger has been altered. The way to go would be to fit a smaller pulley & have the car re-mapped, however the smaller pulley would be obvious if the car was ever inspected. Check your boost pressure - see the DIY section of http://www.snstuning.com for instructions on how to do this. If you already have a fair amount more than standard boost pressure, you could leave the standard pulley on the car and just go for a re-map. This is extremely unlikely be noticed should your car need to be inspected (they would need to dismantle your ECU).
  14. I think "some very unlucky soul" would be a more accurate description. Rear axle bushes on the Corrado are a complete bas****d to fit. dazzyvr6 & dr_mat are quite right with the exhaust. Check your exhaust mountings.
  15. Anybody else going ?? http://www.classiccarshows.org.uk/VW.html Looks like it's the last big show of the year. There's a group of us meeting at Woodall Services on the M1 - leaving around 9:30am
  16. Suppose I'm slightly biased - I have a long standing dislike of 4wd cars. If I had to go Japanese again, I'd get another Nissan 300ZX twin turbo. Not the best handling car around but great fun to drive & plenty of power. Far more comfortable driving position than the Impreza as well.

    IS THERE HOPE?

Kev - sounds like you need to "upgrade" to a G60..........
  18. Saturday afternoon, I spotted a very clean black G60 on York Road in Leeds. Guy driving it even gave me a wave.... :D I was just calling in at the hand car wash (yes - you guessed it) to get my car washed..... 8) doublezero - there's a few of us from Leeds on here now, were all gonna have to meet sometime.
  19. Unfortunately the Bently manual does not cover either of the 16v models - only VR6's & G60's which were exported to USA.
  20. Good point - maybe that's why my G60 is so loud - nice BIG induction kit.
  21. What model Corrado do you have ?? I've got a Magnex on my G60 (4 months old). It has a low rumble at idle which increases with engine speed upto around 2.5k, from then on it's as loud as f**k... :rambo:
