Phil K - The lads you spoke to at VW were talking crap - when I worked for VWUK (3-4 years ago), we used to change the fuel filters every 2 years !! I would advise that everybody does this.
-
If neither your rear window or mirrors heat up - as you've already eliminated the fuse, I would suggest that the switch may be faulty. It would be a very large coincidence for both mirrors & rear window all to develop faults at the same time.

I suspect the seller isn't being totally honest here. If the fan wasn't coming on & the water was "bubbling away", I strongly suspect the engine will have overheated. Be prepared for head gasket problems !! Coolant does not just "bubble away". When the coolant gets too hot - the usual scenario is that the headgasket blows. The worst case scenario is that the head warps & needs replacing. If the coolant problems were just a bad thermostat or fan switch, the main dealer would have either replaced these parts or advised him that they were the cause. These parts are easy to diagnose & a main dealer should spot them straight away. Ask to see the sellers garage bill - this will detail the diagnostic work done & problems found. If he will not show this to you - walk away.

what worn front suspension rubbers look like after 135,000m
stevemac replied to davidwort's topic in Drivetrain
Renewed my entire suspension on the driveway - ball joints, CV joints, wishbones, shockers, springs, anti roll bushes, etc. Removing the old items is usually much more difficult than fitting the new ones. Just remember to have all 4 wheels professionally re-aligned after any work involving front suspension replacement. -
No, they're damping adjustable and the rear legs have a movable spring baseplate I was refering to the coilovers..
-
Yes - but only "Pipercross" make them....
-
My girlfriend wants an Evo VIII ..
-
Graham_E, only reason my suspension's fairly clean is because I renewed it all last summer. I just need to wash all the old oil off the back of my engine now.

Poll sorted . :D Porsche 911 Turbo or Leon Cupra "R" - depending on finance .

Here's a piccy -

Still think your drop links are upside down m8 . Looks like your bottom suspension arms or anti roll bar have been replaced with the roll bar underneath the arms & not above, as it should be. Positionally - yours should be the same as mine.

I've fitted 2 of these "universal" types. The sensors themselves are okay, so long as the wiring is properly soldered & not crimped. My only reservation would be that your existing wiring plug may be quite worn. Check the condition of the plug, next to the OSR engine mount. If the plug's okay then you should be okay fitting a universal sensor. If the plug looks old & knackered - get the OE sensor that comes with a new one. '91 G60 should be the 3 wire type. (2 white & 1 grey, from memory)

 Cheers guys, I try to be as helpful as possible.

Make sure they use a metal head gasket (either OE or one of the kits that we sell) & not one of those nasty paper ones. I discovered that mine had a paper gasket fitted - when I stripped the engine at xmas .. :?
-
I'm sure they could be persuaded..

I still think your timing is slightly too far advanced. The "trembling" is likely to be the knock sensor retarding the timing as it senses the pinking.
-
Sounds like you may need new drop links & bushes. Here's a picture of mine, although the VR links will be a slightly different design -
-
Yeah - height adjustable - I think damping adjustable ones are available too, more expensive though.
-
Yeah - tell me about it .. Car's looking good m8 - it'll be even better with the coilovers fitted .

Top marks to aide, I bought a front grille & engine mount from him - both arrived very quickly & well packaged .. :thumbleft:

Be interesting to see how the half tank of Optimax in my car has survived. Once the car's running again, the Optimax will have been in the tank for 5 months ..

Relevant section now updated. :D

Hopefully, it will just be the head gasket & not valve damage. I know the compression is supposed to be 8:1 but I'm not sure what that is in "bar". If the worst comes to the worst, you could always try this - http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20357

stevemac's G60 8) (mapped & back on the road)
stevemac replied to stevemac's topic in Members Gallery
Hoping to have the car back on the road during April. :D I got some more of my engine built back together this weekend. Can't do too much more until my new intercooler & pipework arrive. :? Definitely back on the road & re-mapped before LeMans. 8)
