Better to use a hammer & the old bearings to knock the new ones in with.
-
Leon Cupra R comes with 18" wheels.
-
beavis, thanks for the info m8 - I've updated the garages section.
-
The top mounts are just like big rubber bushes & are the ONLY things that stop the rear suspension legs from "spearing" your rear quarter trim panels. The rubber deteriorates with age & can (in extremes) push right through the mounting hole in the chassis. They're "cheap as chips" to buy & you'll have to remove them to do the bumpstops anyway.
-
bighands, I doubt the new bump stops will have come with the new shocks & springs - the new top mountings definitely won't have come with them.
-
Make sure you replace the top rear shocker mounting bushes as well, unless they were renewed when you replaced the rear springs & shocks. GS&F part no's :- 45722B - Rear top mount bush - upper - (VW part no. 191 512 335) 45722C - Rear top mount bush - lower - (VW part no. 191 512 333) 45723 - Rear bump stop - (VW part no. 191 512 131B)

U want noise - bin the whole air filter box & fit a cone filter/induction kit. 8)

hothoooz, Red stuff pads have fully ceramic linings - almost totally useless until they're warmed up. My mate has them on his BMW - he thinks they're great. Just be aware that your brakes won't work so good first thing in a morning !!
-
I agree for exactly the same reasons & experiences - well documented elsewhere on this forum
-
What's their address & phone number - I'll add this info to the "reccommended garages" section  Do they do SNS chips too ??
-
As stevo29 says - rear bump stops also act as "helper" springs. Not having them may not be the cause of your problem but certainly won't help the situation. Get some new ones fitted asap.
-
Far more likely to be caused by worn or badly adjusted rear axle mountings/bushes - my G60's the same.
-
Nice one - looks like your first MOT tester had got out of bed the wrong side that morning !!
-
We use several different manufacturers for these joints. If your new one fails, let me know straight away. I will personally go & get you a "good" replacement from our warehouse (FOC).

Good 'ol GSF etc.! :notworthy: :notworthy:

Digilag is nowhere near as noticable as people would have you believe Dazzy. What we're saying is that the problem could have any number of causes & technical fault diagnosis over the internet is, at best, very unreliable. I would have the car checked out at a VW specialist, preferably with a rolling road. In my experience digilag does not cause a car to "stutter" as russg60 describes.
-
Phil K, Different insurance companies use slightly different groups sometimes.
-
Majik, I agree - my G60's "digilag" is not noticable & I don't have a SNS chip (yet). When I shift down a gear & floor the throttle, my car sets off straight away. Sounds like more of a timing/fuelling issue to me. Or possibly even a dead WOT (wide open throttle) switch ?? Could even be a "dying" charger or badly worn auxilliary drive belt ??

reckon merc will be willing to sell these easily?

Karmann built all of the A208 chassis CLK cabriolets - I just don't remember seeing a Karmann badge on them though. I'll check on Monday & if they did badge them, I'll get the part number. 8) -
The whole car's just too big & heavy IMO. It aspires to & has the power to be a real sports car but the sheer size & weight lets it down. Like most Mercedes - it's far more suited to motorway driving & looking good on the driveway 8)

I've driven a couple of those - fast in a straight line but handle like barges when it comes to cornering - not my idea of a fun car to drive at all. Were they 211 (latest) series?? 1 was a W210, normally aspirated E55AMG, the other was a W211 supercharged E55AMG. W211 - far superior car but still handles like a barge in the corners IMO.
-
We don't do the arms m8 - just the blades.
-
I'd be surprised if they were. I think all Corrados are fairly reliable - what you have to remember is that they're virtually all 10yrs old. Nothing lasts forever & parts will need replacing - regardless of which model you buy. May be slightly cheaper on fuel but only if the engine is setup correctly

Mine passed first time & is as low as the standard wheel arches/inner wings will allow
