wow! respect for putting so much time and more importantly cash into it!

I would prefer a chipped 225 giving 265bhp than the 3.2 V6. I think TT's were cool for about 6months when they first came out however many years ago it was now, but there are so many now I wouldn't own one. The 350z which outgunned the TT in tests is, however a massive head turner, it's only 24k and it's got 280 brake! I work with 3 bricklaying gangs, I wouldn't say any of them are gay, but I've had my douibts now and again! lol
-
mine has 135k, has been rebuilt and pulls harder than ever!
-
what mods you done to the engine?
-
probably a 2.0 tdi which I suspect is quicker than t he 2.0 fsi. My friend has a mk4 Golf gti, I couldn't believe how different it felt to my Corrado, really high, almost like an suv, well compraed to the Corrado anyway, the dials look very neat, all lit up blue! but the suspension is too soft and cushiony to pass itself as a gti....

I saw a nice Cupra R on e-bay. 265 bhp just from a chip and he siad it was hitting 60 in 5.5!. I think it's probably fair to say that a Boxster S is probably a better drive than the TT but I would expect the interior and quality of the TT may be slightly ahead. From what I have heard, THE s3 is really quick but not a fun car to drive, the power delivery being overly smooth and linear to the point that you are left a bit n  umb from what is actually going on. But I would have an M3 Evo over any of those cars as they are one of the best second hand buys right now.

I think the car will look better without the badge or even debadged altogether, makes it more mysterious.. 8)

This delusional, backward guy I work with reckons that his Prelude (r reg) is a better car to drive than my Corrado VR6 and looks better aswell! 1st thing I pointed out was that he only has a 2.0 4 cylinder where as I have 2.9litres and 6 cylinders, then he starts coming out with some cock and bull story about how it is a Jap turbo!! but then admitted he was bull sh***ing! So next he says, "I'll bring mine to work and we will park them next to each other and I guaranteed 9 out of 10 people will think the prelude looks better!" At this point I just had to laugh  . Then he was trying to say that just because my car is 11 years old and covered a fair few miles, I got ripped off by paying £4k for it, it finally hit me at this point that this guy knows nothing about cars. Anyway, he soon shut his face after I pointed out that he has lost about £13k in depreciation on his car since he bought it new where as I am barely losing a few hundred quid a year!! I mean, if I had to trade my car for another coupe I would either have the Nissan 200 late spec touring or the Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo, so the Honda would not even come into the equation really unless it was an absolute bargain. I'm sure there are a minority of people (mainly Honda lovers) who would prefer the Honda but the vast majority must be with the Corrado?

had the same problem on mine, only happened when I took a corner and particularly roundabouts fairly quicky. But mine was low on oil so not sure if there is another explanation for you'r scenario, maybe just a computer malfunction?
-
Although it doesn't sound as nice, a guy who I work with has a Honda accord i-cdti and it is quiter on idle than my Corrado VR6, and my Corrado is running very well at the moment!
-
has to be one of the all time best cars that R34 8) but it's so in you'r face with the styling, I'm sure black/silver with silver alloys would look better.

Ok, next year I will probably have to do 20k miles per year and as I am getting tired of being shafted by the government left right and centre, not least for paying the highest taxes on fuel in the world I believe! I am beginning to come round to the idea (and jump on the bandwagon) that diesels make sense. I don't think any of the 4cylinder ones will keep me entertained. I first came round to the idea after being driven from West London to bristol (7 of us including driver!) in a Merc CDI estate (auto). I know my mate was trying to entertain all of us by flooring it everywhere but let me tell you, this thing can SHIFT! All round I would have to say that I really doubt my Corrado could beat this thing, and that w as with 6 passengers!!! we w ere averaging about 120mph the whole way there and if felt like it would do that all d ay long. I have heard the 330D is fantastic, can it be had in 2 door? Also has anyone driven a chipped one? apparently that equates to around 400 pounds of torque!! sounds pretty crazy so I am very intrigued. I know someone was selling one on ebay recently I think. ta.
-
had one on my 205 (what came over me I do not know) they make a weird noise, at first I thought it was "quirky" but then began to think it was just crap. Not sure if it saved any fuel, if it did, it wasn't much.
-
there's no way my golf was as quick as my 205 but it was an mi16 so not really fair to compare. But if it was to drive every day as I need my Corrado now I would have a golf due to it's superior build quality and reliability. How much reduction in fuel economy am I looking at if I get Shrick cams for my Corrado? :)
-
well in that case he must of been lying to me when he sold it unless he did what you mentioned, I briefly had a mk2 8v gti which was my mums and the 16v had less torque low down but felt much quicker all round.
-
no, it was a mk2 golf gti 16v
-
If you'r getting an induction kit, get a ram air style one cos as you have probably seen there is notmuch ventilation in the engine bay and colder air= more bhp.
-
My old Golf GTI 16V was an absolute flyer, it took a while getting used to, but a friend of mine who was a VW mechanic at the time had it running perfectly, oh and I had it chipped, k and n and a s/s exhaust so was probably putting out about 165bhp. Although a brilliant car, it was never as much fun as my 205! :) Have you considered a car like a Ibiza Cupra? Or if you can get a new car why not an ibiza tdi Sport? group 7 Insurance and once it is chipped you will have as much torque as an Impreza STI!
-
I think if we're honest the Corrado VR6 doesn't really start flying til atleast 3.5k, IMO it flies between about 3.5-5k. Which isn't really that much lower than the BMW, maybe it's just that there is more of a noticeable difference in the bimmer where as the Corrado has a more smooth and linear delivery?
-
I suspect that the way BMW have set up the M3, you have to drive it fairly hard ie above 4k to extract the best out of it, still, the performance figures speak for themselves. One thing I do know is that it will have to be considerably better than my Corrado to let her go..
-
I'm craving more power already and am considering an M3 as my next car, I really love the Corrado but wish they just put a 24v head on and extracted another 30 or so bhp. Plus, I would like to own a RWD. Most people say don't get the evo cos the bi-vanos system is unreliable but I'm not convinced that the standard M3 is that much of a step up in performance from a Corrado VR6?
-
I just had my engine rebuilt and they used fully synthetic although I had always previously used Synta Silver which is semi synthetic i think. I have a guarantee for the work so will be covered if it goes!?
-
yea, was on about the 3000 GTO, you know the big ugly looking thing that weighs about 1.8 tonnes. but while we're on the subject I did try one of those FTO's, they are really good but almost opposite engine characteristic to the VR6 ie not enough power where you need it.
-
£1,515, not bad I thought.. Obviously I can't really give it any welly for another 500 miles but will have a more informed opinion and post it then..
-
This is a classic example of having rose tinted glasses. This guy is kidding himself he has an amazing car and deep down he knows it's not all that. I mean, if it was a clio Williams he would atleast have a case! My old 205 GTI would of p*ssed all over that clio so why on earth is he trying to compare it to Corrado VR6's and Porsche Boxsters?? Moron..
