certainly looks like a high maintenance car, luckily I am, as I expect the rest of you are very used to high maintenance cars :) And what about fuel economy? In that big old thing with a huge engine 20mpg seems about the max. While I'm on the subject, can anyone explain why a golf VR6 which is 100cc smaller than a Corrado VR and is lighter, I think? returns less mpg than the Corrado VR? I'm just going by the figures I read in EVO, something like 24 vs 29.5mpg is what they quoted.

Just seen one outside my flat and I can't remember the last time I saw one. Other than the air vents that point to the fact that there is a mother of an engine it is really subtle. Could this be the ultimate Q car? I've hear they can be had for under 5k!

Chipping a normal motor will make no difference...
samm_cvr6 replied to G100extreme's topic in Engine Bay
Surely it is more important what engine you are chipping? N/A are the least receptive to chipping and PD/Common rails with intercoolers are the most receptive. Like you say, I'm sure if you were running say an induction air filter with s/s exhaust or something similar, the benefits of a chip would be enhanced as you can get a faster flowing air thru the car. -
A good place to take you'r C if in SE London.

there in Charlton SE7 quite close to South circular A2/A20. What colour is your' VR? -
Hey slot, are they Audi A8 alloys on you'r C? and what size? because they look brilliant. Have always steered well clear of Vauxhalls! I was going thru the Dartford tunnel a while ago and one over took me and OMG the noise of the bloody thing was deafening, it was properly tuned and would of made mince meat of my VR!

Ok, I want to make sure everything is in order, was thinking 1)Chains 2)Brakes 3)Suspension and bump stops/bushes 4)fluids-clutch/gearbox etc Anything else I should make sure they check? The place I am taking it have been very lenient in the past with passing but I want to make sure the car is running well for my benefit and seeing as I'm not driving a disposable jobbie anymore. Ta.

London Diesel Services is the name but they do a lot of work on petrol cars. Nick who works there is sound and helpful. I'm not saying these guys are as good as someone like stealth/jabba etc but they know there cars and offer very reasonable prices. They had an M3 CSL in there and he was telling me about how rapid it is! There number is 020 8858 8013, If you tell them you are a friend of Sam's he may well give a discount, he likes C's and was looking for one but couldn't find a decent one, he reckoned mine was much better than the ones he had looked at!

lovely C you have there, what a great set up. bet it puts a big grin on you'r face when you open it up! What sort of money do these C's fetch?

Sorry to hear that dude. If it's any consolation, back in the days of my 205, I have driven when I blatantly knew I was over the limit and crashed the car out of sheer recklessness, although I was sober when I crashed the car. I learnt my lesson and any time I start to push my car now, I just have memories of my crash and it scares the s*** out of me! Atleast you didn't hurt/kill any other people, that would be a very hard thing to live with.

It may be because a C has a better driver involvement than some other cars and you just "feel" what is happening to the car, instead of being numb like other cars leave you. The only thing I have noticed is that there is a man hole cover on a road near me, it's almost impossible to avoid, if it's wet it makes the car skip half way across the road!

this is a big dilemma for me right now as my car is 100% standard. My head is saying just leave it as I know I won't return nearly as much as I have spent modding it when I come to sell. But I know how much more I will like the car if I atleast put a nice set of suspension and tyres on it. I'm really interested in the schrick VGI, and I know how amazing it will probably sound with a good filter and exhaust. I could do this or maybe just save up, leave the car standard and dare I say it, get an M3 EVO. :?

hmmm 'only' got 135k right now, been taking it easy with her during the winter, she'll have 150k+ by the end of summer 05 tho! If most of this mileage is done on the motorway and I am getting 30+mpg I figured that it's not bad really!

The results of tuning the 2.0TDI seem to be very good, the 16v making it behave more like a petrol, gaining progressive power right to the red line. I agree with you that I wouldn't of thought there would be nearly as much scope for tuning on the 2.0T as the 1.8T.

Yea, was disappointed that old JC seemed to be focusing on the cars bad points and wasnt really a very well rounded review. The fact is that it is clearly a quicker car than the lambo and cost 1/3 of the price, although the lambo is massivley more desirable. The guy who was driving the lambo was an ex professional racing driver so should be a far better driver than JC. The porsche boxster s looks set to cement it's place as the best roadster aswell.

OMG- it was only 1 sec slower than the Zonda round the track! bloody fast indeed. Of course I'd never buy one because a 911TT is a similar price seond hand, oh and I can't afford it!

heard they are doing a worst handling feature. If only I knew I could of told them about my Fiat Uno 1.0 ie! it's right up there with the worst, along with the acceleration, if you can call it that (60 in 17.7!) if you want to get a firm grasp of "roll" and "understeer" just try it! Still love it tho (50mpg) as in 3 years it has never ever let me down and i've done all maintenance myself! :D

I think Corrado is quite a cool and unusual name (being foreign n all) but can you imagine if they called it "typhoon" or something equally as hideous?? LOL

superchips claim an extra 12+ bhp but as mentioned above, take this with a pinch of salt. I would of thought tho being a big old engine, and in comparison to how other V6's chip, the benefits would have been good, atleast better than 4cylinder cars. e.g, apparently a chipped M3 releases 15bhp, not bad for a N/A car, but when I have looked at various sites, owners are saying don't do it as the engine is highly stressed enough as it is and it will reduce engine life so maybe the same applies to a VR? I would probably just go with the VGI, zorst and filter, it is still a FWD car after all, but IMO a good suspension/brake/tyre set up is far more important on a VR.

nice looking C, what colour is it? and what alloys are those? I might just try and keep mine for years, even if it is just stored, like you say, there is nothing out there like it. It will be a very sad day when it is sold that's for sure...
-
can anyone put it on the forum? would be interesting to see.
-
I have to say, IMHO, visibility is not very good in the C, the windscreen is good but it's going round tight corners and reversing is bad, doesn't really account for much tho in the grander scheme of the car as a whole! :)
-
sounds like the guy has spent atleast 5k on the engine+ all the labour and maybe it is worth it if it is all mint as it looks? gotta get up to the pod soon! 8)

Good marketing and I like the styling. The new 2.0 HDI looks interesting, not sure about all this technology tho- lane sensors etc. I would prefer it if they stuck to making the cabin nice and the driving dynamics, oh well.

yea brilliant film. God, I'm just imagining rolling into work with that plate on a TT (no offense TT drivers but you know the pigoen hole it has) I don't think I would ever live it down. Makes you think, at least the guy can put up with the stick he must get.
