  1. I notice that in the second pic the car has a CORRADO door sill.... Anyone else got these or were they just for the campaign?
  2. I wasn't going to not cover it - I only took it off to show the pics. Anyway... I took the MK3 filter off because I couldnt get a water cover to go over it. Dont bother with the MK3 kit I was mislead by a filter distributor on this one... Try and get the MK2 aftermarket housing if poss, even better - do what I ended up doing and buy a MK3 filter panel and fit it INSIDE the leaf mesh that's already on the C. The Mk3 panel is so big that you end up getting 2 whole filters for the C> just cut to size and fit! Perfect, oh and the filter is readily available for the Mk3 - £5 so therefore £2.50 each on the C! :D ...
  3. Got a few dents removed by Axi-Dent - AMAZING work - seriously - they removed the dents that Dent Devils said were not possible to get out!! They travelled to me in NE London but they do a lot of work for dealers - I got introduced to them by Abridge VW. Julesz - if you are interested they are actually based in your neck of the woods. Telephone Rob Stevens 07816666046 Cheers! Nick
  4. oi! stop it ;) it leaks about a tablespoon when I turn off after a long run. and then stops. Am def going to try silver as I am sure it will help. The guy at the dealer said it is common for the VR to leak but I don't think that's a good enough answer!...
  5. Is the synta silver a thicker oil than Synta gold? I am told that I should try using thicker oil - (currently Gold) as I have a really small and irritating leak and have changed the sump and gasket and still haven't sussed it!
  6. Hi mate The parts for the MK3 conversion are: 1HO 819648A (Upper frame) 1JO819624 (Filter element) 1H2 819640A (Filter housing) 1HO 819165 (gasket) I will be honest it was SUCH a pain in the neck to fit that I don't wholly recommend but it does seem that we have no other choice as the Mk2 housing is now obsolete! Also the problem with the water cover not fitting cleanly is another reason to not rush to do it. That said it does it's job when its in... I will see if I can get the Mk3 water cover to fit now - off to the scrappies... Cheers Nick
  7. Just to let everyone know that my quest came to an end. I was trying desperately to find a MK2 housing but Knecht definitely no longer make them :( Then one supplier told me that I could use the pollen filter and housing from a mk3 golf. What the hell - I ordered a complete kit from the stealer £22, and attempted to fit it! NIGHTMARE! Got it in in the end! I had to remove the ECU to be able to manouvre the pollen filter housing in. IT IS HUGE!!! Anyway - all in and I am now a happy bunny. The only thing that I am disappointed about is the plastic water tray that covered the old leaf mesh. It is not moulded to the shape of the new filter housing - it obviously fits the MUCH smaller leaf guard. Anyone know if we can use a water cover (not sure of the name of it!) from another VW - ie - MK3 Golf?? It has always seemed funny to me that all on the C is on display - ie windscreen wiper motor. Any ideas?
  8. Am I wrong or do you have to be a business or something to be a member of Costco. That is what I have been told. Frustrating because there is a huge one near me...
  9. That EXACT same thing happened to me after GTI international... The bolt had come loose on the passenger arm and the arm was banging at full speed then it came off too far and mangled itself in the drivers side. Have now gone for the higly recommended Lupo mod. BUT even after done I noticed the wipers were banging. I checked the spline on the spindle - looked fine. Turns out that the spindle itself had become loose and needed tightening down as it was making the arm move further than intended. Have a look check the large hex bolt that holds the actual spindle down is secure.
  10. WOW! that is GORGEOUS! yep I get the same results with Autoglym Super Resin and then the final polish - looks superb and protects very well. Have always heard that Zymol was the mutts nuts but never used it. Always been very happy with Auto Glym.
  11. UPDATE: Well - Europarts, GSF and GPC don't sell them (even the Europarts list the part) I have found a filter from Mann and Huemmel - £5.25 BUT I can't find a soul who lists the housing! Apparently the housing from the Jetta/Golf 2 and the Seat Toledo is the correct one. I guess the scrappies is the only soultion unless anyone else knows otherwise?..... Nick
  12. Are the door speaker fittings the same for the VR^ post '93 as the ones for the G60 and 16v pre 92?? I noticed that ETKA lists 2 door speaker pod types. From memory I swear that my speakers aren't screwed in. Am I mistaken?? Cheers!
  13. I tried taking mine off but gave up because it seemed to be held in place near the sunroof... Where are all the fixings on the roof - any details on removing would be enormously appreciated :)
  14. Dunno - the badge on the wheels certainly looks like VW to me....
  15. I have done the mod but have x2 drivers arms with Drivers blade on drivers side and pass blade on the pass side. Drivers blade didn't wipe perfectly when used on the pass side.
  16. John - where can you buy the kit from?
  17. Cheers! The ladies like the black leather ;) No seriously I personally prefer black all over. Blue and black I am not keen on. The only other colour I like black with is platinum leather. The Dark green looks awesome with the cream though imo :)
  18. They didn't clean her no, but she came back in pretty much the same cleanliness! I left the marks from the suction pads of the camera! Sad eh!
  19. They Took it on Thurs the 10th and returned it on the 11th Sept late in the evening. They took it to High Wycombe and did some country driving shots with presenter Richard Hammond and then just filmed some static shots all round the car. I wasn't there with them unfortunately but this is what the Rowland told me. They really looked after the car well, came back as it went! They defintely had cameras strapped to the inside of the car as there were suction marks on the glass inside from the camera harnesses! They all loved it so it seeems we will all be looking forward to a seriously Corrado blessing episode. No idea on the transmission date. He said he would let me know. Firts transmission is 26/10. Will let everyone know when I know. :D
  20. Never saw this - did anyone catch the reg!??? May have been mine - the Top Gear lot used it recently for the feature that is coming soon.
  21. I didn't know if it was an option at all. I was told it wasn't. I have tried to get one but no luck, would love to hear of any solutions.
  22. I have heard from VW's head office that the parts were superceded by a new part number and are due back in stock any day THIS month. Mind you I have been being told that since June so it's a case of believe it when I see it :?
  23. Anyone still got the same problem as me?? I ordered my LUP Gti wiper set from VW in MAY and have still not received one of them. Been driving around with one lupo wiper (drivers side only) now for way too long. I am really surprised anything could take so long to order!
  24. Pretty much any simple amp and a wiring kit from Halfords. In fact - go to http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk and they have info on the wiring kits for sale. The Caliber is a very powerful free air sub. Go to http://www.caliberaudio.com for more info on the sub. They can give you the best advice. Cheers!
