Replacing the headlamp glass.....without shagging it...??

I have just changed one lense and it looks sooooo much brighter than the other!! If I take the other lense off and clean behind it would I end up damaging the gasket or could I reuse it? I changed the gasket on the other side but not sure if that was necessary! I am of course being a perfectionist..... -
The Gti-6 is a lovely little beast! I have been in my mates (never driven it) but it goes like stink and handles beautifully. I know it may look like other 306's but at the end of the day, that is kind of the fun! The beauty of having someone tailgating you thinking that you have a standard 306 under the hood and then pulling away and leaving them in the distant rear view. I know that the Pug is definitely quicker than standard g60's but of course the 'enhanced' g60 owners on this forum could leave us standard VR6 drivers for dead! I would say the VR6 is quicker than the GTi-6 but not outrageously quicker. I would say that the GTi-6 is more comparable to the Golf VR6 but handles better! WORDS OF EVO MAG: The 306 GTi-6: +One of the great GTi's - They don't make it anymore (5 stars)

Gentlemen - I am very sorry but have no longer got them :( Have no idea why I deleted them - tis a shame they werent in demand last month. I repaired it very well so there is really nothing to see anymore!

nice work - take it you are not London based then!? Very quick job to do anyway :)
-
Sorry I didnt see this one sooner. Yes it sounds like exactly the problem I had. Second hand ones can be about £40 new ones £187 +vat!
-
oh..... very good point!

Think you push the slider switch all the way to the right and hold it there for a few seconds and it will reset
-
You can no longer buy the rocker type switch from the dealer. VW changed these to the push button type as they were prone to failure. If you needed a new one it would be a push button switch.

nice one - thanks! By "highest point" I take it you mean nearest to the hole in the incoming pipe? doing the job today :)
-
top stuff! thanks - thought that would make sense :)

I actually got the 3 separate piecesy. Would it be logical/easier to assemble the thermostat elbow with Stat and seal inside and also the the transfer pipe with seal, so that the 3 pieces become one before fitting? Will it make it easier in the long run do you reckon?

on my service schedule from the dealership the official VW service sheet had a box to be ticked to say that it had been serviced with Quantum oil. I would highly recommend the silver!

not a corrado but my colleague Jay just clocked a beautiful figure on his MK2 Golf 1.6 Driver..... http://www.honosutomo.com/car.htm Thanks to Majik for a recent camblet and tensioner change!

lol - I just had the same thing on the passenger side - pushed down on it and it has opened. Presto! Greased up the springs etc, seems okay now.
-
Having Witness Majik's performance first hand all I can say is BLIMEY!!! Nice work Darren - he has one absolute hellraiser now :!: :D Top stuff!

Oh - just another thing  - when we are talking about the housing do we man the part with the space for the 3 plugs/sensors or the elbow. Or both! Anyone have the part number/s
-
Nice one guys! Will get the parts and do this on monday. 8) Nick

Hi Kev Thanks so much! Glad I found the right place... Is it actually underneath (upside down in situ) where the electrical plugs would go? Also - if I flush the system - where should I plant the hose and which pipe should I diconnect as an outflow for the old coolant? Does the coil pack just bolt on? Should I change the plastic housing for the thermostat as well as the seal? Any other tips? Cheers :) Nick

Hey chaps My VR has been running real hot on motorways with the fan on permanently! I have been trying to find exactly where the stat is and I am failing! Thought it was near the main water pump on the aux belt near the alternator etc but it cant be.... The other place I looked was beneath the coil pack and near the aux pump. I ended up prising a plastic covering off 3 sensor plugs and think I have found it... Can anyone tell me where it is and if indeed I am in the right place. Incidentally I cracked the covering (part357972279) is this covering essential?? Okay! Thanks Nick

The handbook says that it can lose a litre every 1k miles. I havent noticed that on mine to be honest. Depends on your driving style too at the end of the day.

I am a bit of a midget! 5'7"! So can get into tight spaces!

I did everything but taking the seat out. Obviously removed the steering cowling and clipped off the cable ties for the stork and steering wheel loom - allowing improved access and visibility. The got a very long shafted (to avoid handle getting in the way) and thin (3MM) screwdriver - I used a flat head but a cross head would be better as the screw is a Philips type. At first I couldn't see the screw but I closed one eye and I could focus better (that may just be a prob with my eyes tho!) lol
-
I had this - changed the ign switch yesterday. Bingo - I am not that big so managed to do it with the seat in and I used a very long and thin stanley screwdriver to wip the screw off. With the right tool - it takes not time at all. :)
-
Solved :) Was the ignition switch indeed! Job done - cheers :D Really took very little time at all - lucky I had a very long, thin screwdriver to get the awkward screw out. Very pleasing indeed!
