Err.. thats exactly what i said.

I believe the technical answer is a plastic timing cover thingy. Should be cheap from VW.. dont know how much of a problem it is if its missing though, as it stops crap getting in the engine..

hey Andy, things arn't looking so great this end at the moment.. my wheels still arnt back from refurb as i wasnt happy with the job first time round. also, i blew my charger a couple of weeks ago! its down in littlehampton with the surgeon at the moment  would be good to see you at the bristol meet soon though! -
Only thing i agree with is the zero alcohol limit, but I think this should be the case for drivers of all ages. Why it's now been decided that we have to smoke outside, but we can have a pint before jumping in the car is beyond me.. Also, retaking test annually for oldies would be a good idea, as is a retake every 10 years. I passed my test at 18, and the 6 points in first two years thing had come into play. My first car was a £100 sh!tter of a 1.1 C plate Fiesta. I loved it, and drove it all the time. With the exception of loud music i was fairly sensible. I then bought a Renault 19, which was 80bhp monster! I didn't know what to do with all the power, it could do 120mph!! So i did it all the time, just because i could! I got 3 points for 64 in a 40 and 3 points for 70+ in a 40 and lost my licence. I sold the car and didnt retake my test for 18months, partly because insurance was now crazy, partly because i knew i had some growing up to do. I think the high insurance costs and risks of loosing licenses make it tough enough for the majority of young drivers now. To say you cant go out at night is ridiculous.. wouldn't it be better to pull someone over at night because they're driving like a tw@t than it would be to check the age of the driver?

Why is it so hard to make a decent VW Car Mag?
bristolbaron replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Best person to ask would be Elliot at PVW.. [email protected] If you emailed him, as a genuine question and gave ideas as to what you'd like to see in the mag you'd get a positive response. A lot of mags will browse forums, read threads like this and dismiss whats written as keyboard warriors having a moan. If you take the time to make contact, thats how progress/change is made. -
225/45 is too big..

Cheers mate, hopefully be seeing yours out there next year? yes defo will be taking it next year.. car was off the road wk upto MIVW so didnt fancy taking it incase it broke down  Cool, always better to be safe. cant believe i made it there and back with no probs! the Lux was rocking anyway! haha.. what a wake up! dont know if the forum is ready for it! Cheers bud.. just need to get the next stage moving now! -
i did mine with wet and dry, smoothed all seams and then used plastic paint, as well as tinting the clear sections so they're all red. finish isnt crystal anymore, but prefer the look as more oem.

Gwerks supply H&R adaptors, these come with both sets of bolts, only need to find locking wheel nuts. Think theres a thread on here about offsets/adapters somewhere.

The show was MIVW in Holland. We drove up on the friday, getting the ferry at 12pm. The afternoon was a killer. Stop start in traffic all the way through Belgium. Once we were through the worst of it, there were some decent roads for testing top speed of the car. I was happy! Saturday morning we cleaned the cars off before heading into Amsterdam. Learnt valuable lesson - Don't take Furk'z to a coffeshop unless you have plenty of snacks. :icecream: the icecream was gooood. no wotsits though. Sunday was a scorcher. Didn't know what to expect from the show, and it seemed very slow to start. Where a UK show seems to be up and running by 10am, people were still turning up through out the afternoon. It was good because it kept me entertained throughout the day, as there was always something new to see. Entry to the show and shine finished at 1pm. At 12.50 Furk'z asked if I'd entered, which i hadn't. He persuaded me too and i got 3rd place, behind him and Sukh's VR6 Turbo.. Both awesome cars, and inspiration for me to take mine further. All in all a brilliant weekend, for fun factor as good as Worthersee.. the driving experience was great, which is now making me think i'm gonna have to drive to Austria next year. 7 weeks to E38 and counting... -
Dont wory, not another exhaust thread!!G-Werks exhaust pics?
bristolbaron replied to keystarG60's topic in Exterior
Heres a few of mine, don't have many pics from the back of the car as it's the tattiest area! As far as the exhaust is concerned, i'd definatly recommend it. fitment is spot on, it sits at exactly the same angle as the standard one, and the sound is perfect. nice and quiet on idle, good on the motorway and rips when you floor it. worth getting the de-cat pipe too, however, i fitted mine straight away, so don't have a comparison. -
