  1. ahh.. ross's old car! glad you're happy with it.. consider coilovers instead of just doing the rear shocks..
  2. what does it really mean? - it means it was a demonstrator vehicle for a garage and was likely also someones company car.. does it mean every tom, dick and harry and dreamers who had a golf went to drive it and give it hell..? - Yes, they would've been used for demo drives, however most customers don't give them hell. At our place all demo's are assisted, so people drive sensibly as you're in the car with them.. it's often us encouraging people to push more out of the car so they can tell how they really drive. People are uneasy with ragging 20k of someone else car about.. or like mentioned is a press car a totally different thing all together? Yes. press cars would've been loaned to motoring press mostly before general release, so they can review the cars. People bragging about ex-demo's will generally be showing off that they either have a well specced car, or bought it for a very good price.
  3. mk2 are sh!t, but mk1's are better looking than corrado's IMO..
  4. classic, i'd love to have been there..
  5. well i'd like to start off by saying it makes no difference on an old car like a corrado.. as already said ex demo's are generally a good way of getting a car with lots of extras without paying a premium for them. with MINI we sell our demo's very near to the full retail price, so you are still paying for the extras on the cars, but they hold value so well all you save is the on the road costs [about £600] As to how they get treated? well, i'm not stupid! If i drove my car to redline with only 4 miles on the clock i'm not gonna admit to it on a public forum! The way i see it, unless you're buying the car from the previous owner, you'll never get an idea of how it was driven before anyway, so it could be as bad or worse.. still it doesnt really make a difference on an older car anyway
  6. quite the opposite, first served..
  7. yup.. every couple of weeks for me. i must get an optima!
  8. there was a girl doing blowovers in holland for about 30 euros..
  9. You nearly ran me over at E38 and didnt even say hello mines back on the road in limp mode at the moment, we'll have to catch up soon..
  10. I'm still not sure about the Fiat.. Would love to drive one to see what its like. it does look incredibly gay, but my first thoughts of the mini when it came out was they've spoilt it.. I reckon this could be a cool little car. Theres not as many as you would think! The 1 millionth car rolled out the factory back in June.. compare this to approx 800k 206's etc per year over the last five years.. MINI's are just more noticeable because they're different.. PAH!! Have you driven one? The new cooper S is awesome, and even the Cooper is a cracking drive.. I sell them for a living, so would say that, however if i worked elsewhere and had the choice of a company car, i'd still be going with the MINI..
  11. okay two things.. first, you cant tax a sorn vehicle more than 1 day in advance, so if its being insured from the 6th, you wont be able to tax it until the 5th. second, you can tax a car on a 7 day insurance policy, so cant see why you cant do the same if you have a 6 day cover note covering from the first, especially if you would also be taking the annual policy with you. RAC were recently offering a free 7 day cover, but that part of their site is down atm, worth checking again tomorrow though..
  12. ive had my g60 for about 2 &1/2 years now and its hardly cost me anything. servicing costs are minimal if you do it yourself, and still fairly cheap going to gwerks etc.. charger service, yeah every 40k @ £400-500. however, even doing 20k per year thats only every two and a half years. i blew up my charger this year, with a mixture of running a foam panel filter [not a good idea] and driving the car fecking hard back from MIVW in holland. fuel economy? well i bought my g60 when i was doing 70+ miles per day. driving a fairly steady 50mph cross country i saw about 35mpg.. better than i got in my old 1.8 16v! we averaged around 25mpg coming back from holland and that was with tough motorway driving. the only costs i've incurred except for the above have all been things that ive wanted to do to the car. buy the right one, you've got nothing to worry about. good luck with the search!
  13. about time! they look so much better.. never got round to it on mine..
  14. good stuff! flat centres as well.. the most difficult bit to get!
  15. i reckon they'll be crap.. save the money and wait until you can get real coilovers..
  16. You need to look further afield! I bought my A's from germany, as prices here are crazy.. set of 5 here if youre quick! http://cgi.ebay.de/5-Borbet-A-Felgen-9- ... dZViewItem or.. http://cgi.ebay.de/Borbet-A-Felgen-9-x- ... dZViewItem Theres loads about.. and dont be scared of buying in Germany, i'd much rather pay money into a German account than pay with paypal over here.. they seem to be much more trustworthy! The tsw's imo are too thin spoked, wont suit the rado. however, its all personal choice.. if you like em, go for it. Porsche wheels any good to you?... http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... pic=105965 http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... pic=106661 Good luck with whatever you choose..

  18. they'll be fine, just dont go above a 205/40 tyre
  19. I work in car sales and we have to be nice, we don't get paid until a car is handed over, so we wouldnt get away with anything less. A lot of the industry is poorly paid and garages wont pay more for someone with a good personality.. I don't think it's necessarily a trate just true of the car trade though, how many people dread dealing with insurance companies/builders/fast food staff etc
  20. speak to the guys at gwerks, they do the h&r adaptors which are lighter than venoms offering. if you are a memeber of the edition38 forum there is an offer in the gwerks section currently..
  21. we use blue masking tape in the bodyshop, i doubt it was anything more exciting.
  22. Wheres NickVR6 when you need him..
