well must admit was slightly tempted by them :-P .......and the boxed mk3 GTi anniversary RX's too......but coilovers was top of the shopping list and i was already getting my solitudes refurbed so decided to "leave" them for you  -
and if i'm not mistaken if you look very closely you'll also notice what appears to be the bigger front spoiler too

bet its made all the difference too.....amazing how something so minor can and does make a difference once its been fixed........i noticed it most when i bought new indicators a couple of years ago just cos my old ones looked yellow-ish instead of orange.....fitted them up and WOW!!! orange indicators  tidied up the front no end.............. -
Yeah, but this new engine will have the power that I won't have to worry about that too much! and of course your new diet too mate  :-P :-P

12-disc in glovebox :D
-
its not a campaign tho  ...............very early VR's came with those alloys too IIRC thats a VW press shot
-
so too does crashing yer motor :-P    .............IMO its just plain stupid  :? do you think that your bumper isnt going to be affected in anyway by constant flame spitting??

being a storm owner myself..........i find that leaving one totally original is ok.......but i feel they(like all late VR's) benefit looks wise from lower suspension.....ok mine is approx 65mm lowered so some might think its a bit too radical but the standard ride height is a joke.........as it makes the wheels look totally lost in the arches.........lowering it by even 30mm makes the original solitudes look a hell of a lot less "lost"..............all IMHO also as long as it is a genuine storm with the badges intact i dont think subtle mods detract from its standard spec.......and as for its "uniqueness" at the end of the day as ive stated before its just a leathered up VR that attracts a hefty premium cos of a couple of badges and different wheels and mystic blue paint(on 50% of them).....tbh the only people who scored with the storm were those that bought them new as i believe it worked out cheaper than speccing a VR with leather.......the bulk of ppl who bought 2nd hand would have paid a premium over the standard(even leathered up) VR............though later on some us were lucky to pick them up at normal VR prices.......just my 2pence
-
Thats the ones

ah well sorry to depress you but the stop/start tantrum seems to be just down to a couple of blown fuses and a loose fitting ECU relay........so fixed for under a couple of quid****touch wood**** of course  ...............though will keep you in mind if i ever do decide to sell
-
should have bought a VR then jim  :-P ..........seriously tho another way might be to buy 4-stud speedlines in a design very similar to the VR ones.....i'm pretty sure they do them
-
i'm assuming that you've also checked that you have the heat pads still in place???.....as these are approx £50 per side IIRC.........not much sense getting it all wired up and then finding out that you don't have the "bum" warming facility
-
Kev ok the Sport SWB model is the ultimate........but even an early(i prefer digital dash ones tbh 84 A>)10v is serious fun........just with a bit of a fuel thirst but worth it  if i knew i could sweet talk the missus into me getting one again then i would.......and as for that ur-quattro exhuast note..........that to me is sexier than some V8 rumble  ............go on you know you want too  Karmann sorry matey......my storm's a keeper.....though after its little start and stop tantrum this evening     ...........
-
Looks like i've just joined the ign switch/immobiliser problem club   ......though ive also got the added problem of the sunroof not working and the spoiler slightly raised  ...........hopefully its just a fuse for the both of them.........though was told by someone well-informed with VW's that there migth be a fuse for the immobilsor too.......anyone have a clue about that???? :? :? :?

not in chrome or a polished finish tho  -
well out of them i would rate them in this order 1)Audi ur-quattro 2)Corrado VR6 3)Porsche 924S 4)Porsche 944 turbo 5)Porsche 924lux so far since buying my storm in august 2001 ive never once went for a "test"-drive of anything else to change it with or even thought about it......though an Escort Cosworth would tempt me a bit...........but i'm not going to pay thru the nose for one especially the prices they still can command.......i find my storm a good compromise between decent performance and manageable running costs  The only reason i still don't have an ur is the missus...........she heard about how dear parts can be and were also running costs etc(20 gallon tank that needed refuelling weekly  ......back when a gallon was about £2.50) though fully comp was a reasonable £550  anyway she wanted me to get shot of ASAP much to my regret  my 944turbo was not the best example on reflection(hence why so lowly rated by me.......went fast enough but had a fair few EXPENSIVE niggles.....tho if you found a good one it would be a different story) whereas my 924S was a 2-owner FPSH ex-Charles Follet demo so was pretty well specced and had been well-looked after the 924 lux was a minter but a wee bit overpriced for the performance or lack of it 125bhp when i had come out of my 150bhp 2.8i XR4i
-
me too.........showing our ages a bit too much here tho
-
well found some old pics of my previous motors specs were as follows:- 924lux- 2.0 8v 125bhp 1983 Y-reg owned from April93-August93 924S- 2.5 8v 150bhp 1986 C-reg owned from August93-December94 944Turbo- 2.5 8v Turbo 220bhp 1987 D-reg owned from December94-June95 Audi quattro coupe 2.1 10v Turbo 200bhp 1986 D-reg owned from September95-July96

even then thats not infallible......i seem to remember a programme sometime last year saying that if the thieves have time to store it in some sort of "sheilded" container-box the tracker wont be able to communicate with the satelite
-
pray you have a friendly MOT tester then.......as i can remember someone from the E-group having his failed on this and requiring a new steering column to pass the MOT
-
........too bloody right i am  :-P :-P   .....................na payment enough for me is knowing my C and number plate is bring happiness into the world :-P
