-

if i were you i wouldn't bother haggling too much........by the sounds of it you've found a good'un......so paying £5800 aint too much a hassle IMO.........as for the std VW alarm.....some insurance companies will be happy enough with this whilst others will demand at least an installation certificate or a new CAT1 -
............so you wanna call CORRADO SOPRANO's mama a chav????? :-P   ...............better watch out for that horse's head on yer pillow then
-
at the end of the day quality always costs...........as long as you make sure whoever is doing the paint has a good reputation and isn't just "thinking of a number".......
-
best speak to aposegil on the forum IIRC he's recently had his C sprayed and co-incedently in your part of the country too
-
if he's VW-approved then he'll be a VW-dealer  .....AFAIK VW only approve VW dealers for servicing/mech.repairs etc they won't "approve" any other garage.........so in other words his "VW" stamp isn't really "aunthentic" as such.....but if he does a good job cheaply then its not a problem......it just means that you don't have any recourse to "complain" to VW if there is any "issues" with mechanical repairs/servicing probs .........tho the only other way he might be VW approved is if he also has a bodyshop and is VW approved for body repairs etc
-
or even a standard M3........afterall they are close on double the power of the VR

sounds like a C/L pipe prob

Now I know why I bought a Corrado!! (well one reason anyway)
vr6storm replied to Ice White Socks's topic in General Car Chat
had parked a Hire car up at aberdeen railway station earlier on one day............so when i went down to hand over the keys later on,when i was waiting for the customer's train to come in.......i was approached by this couple in their late 30's and asked if my storm was for sale......cos the guy had one when they first came out and then sold it after about 3 years and was still missing it  -
What VW's have you owned and how old are you??
vr6storm replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat

JimsG60's Corrado G60 (New pics taken 13/03/2005)
vr6storm replied to Jim's topic in Members Gallery
thats a horrendous insurance price............but i bet owning such a nice one as the brookescourt/leew G60 more than makes up for it.........and after your brief flirtation with the saxo worth every penny -
i use synta-Gold the fully synthetic VW oil.............only cos AFAIK my C's always been fed a diet of fully-synthetic...............synta-silver is very well recommended too.....and of course a bit cheaper
-
TBH thats just about right for a Scottish VW dealer............thats actually on the cheap side nationally......if you want fun try getting a quote in London then you'll think £42 is a bargain........anyway the oil + filter change is what they charge as that will be using whichever oil that they(the dealer-group) use.........unless you specify a particular type......i got done once with esso £10 a litre stuff    ......the way to avoid getting hit is to say that you'll supply the oil and just want the labour charge and filter charge or to save you getting your hands dirty.........buy a sump plug gasket, genuine VW filter and whatever oil you want......go down to your local "kwik-fit" etc and get 1 of their "oil+filter" change specials.......but tell them to keep their oil+filter........voila an oil + filter change done for just under £20 labour + cost of oil and filter
-
i'll have to try it out on my bro-in-laws recently calibrated weighbridge too.........funnily enough had a wee discussion just this weekend about weighing motors on it.........as dub16 is wanting his polo weighed sometime soon......anyway my bro-in-law told me that his 'bridge is only accurate to the nearest 20kg's......though IIRC i'm sure it goes up in 5kg increments :? :? :? i'll move this into common corrado questions too

Specialist-Cars(Aberdeen).......both parts dept and servicing can't fault them at all.....parts dept very very helpful and my C always comes out purring after being serviced or sorted by their workshop
-
  sorry darren........forgot to PM you about this.....anyway they are still at the printers(they seemingly had a "technical" problem with their machine :? .....well thats what i was told at any rate)hopefully they should have had that rectified late last week so fingers crossed for delivery late this week.........once again sorry for the delay   .......and i'll keep ya posted this time
-
the wheel itself aint too bad. ............just the sizes and look that you have planned will make it as tinsman says.....UGLY........but at the end of the day its your C and your money
-
spooky or what........i was looking thru a late august 92 autocar mag classified section earlier on and spotted an advert for Karman the London VW dealer which had a "Corrado VR6 ltd edition 1 0f 6.....£24995" for sale........a full £5k+ over the list price of a standard VR........must admit i would love to buy a "campaign" cos i just love that interior(bar the dash).....prefer the look of the rotary controls tho
