  1. Your Corrado is your friend. I was once in a situation where three bloody great thugs jumped out of a car and were running towards me looking to do me some damage. I can't describe the combination of surprise and sheer fright on thier faces when I floored it and drove straight at them. Funny that. They all dived for it, but frankly I wasn't stopping whether I hit one of them or not. [a true story] So perhaps a CF top tip there. If a 12 year old looks to throw a rock at your car, run the little bugger over! I bet you the damage takes longer to fix than the dent to your bodywork does, heh heh heh. Bet you he never does it again either, heh heh heh
  2. www.airhorns.co.uk 118db twin tones from £30 (street legal) Fabulous Fiamm (as used on classic Ferraris) for around £100. Job done.
  3. This is what you need : http://www.clarion.com/gb/en/products/2 ... 05883.html Frankly I think you're having a laugh if you think you're going to get all the stuff you want for close to £100, but I think the one above is only a bit over £300, which considering it's capabilities is pretty cheap.
  4. Well it was there, £2k difference is hardly worth thinking about, and like you I have no interest in conducting an argument simply for the sake of it. It could have been accident damaged, but it was there. Personally I'm far more interested in the residuals on RS6's right now
  5. Where have you seen R8's going for £40k? There was one in the Autotrader last week. £42k it was.
  6. I'm wondering that in a depressed market where even Audi R8s which were only available at massive premiums over list 12 months ago are already trading at around £40k whether an 8C is actually even worth half of bugger all already?
  7. You should pull a dusty copy off the DVD shelf. It's probably the funniest car chase ever filmed.
  8. Agreed, both the car and Stig's driving were inspirational. I wonder if he's got one of his own? He seemed to be grabbing it by the scruff of the neck and showing it whose boss! Those Duratec motors are incredible. 300+hp from 2 litres.... and the Honda boys get excited by 120hp / litre.... I think it's fair to say most racing drivers know how to punt a Caterham along at 100%. That certainly wasn't Stig's first time in one. That was the best piece of film they've done all series. I was honestly expecting a few lines from the Blue Brothers to be inserted into the dialogue but the 'nod' was nicely subtle. "There's a sale at Penny's...' :D :D :D p.s. Jim - no dents on a Corvette mate, bodies are fibreglass...
  9. Trust me you wouldn't want to sit in an R500 dawdling through a town centre. Best left for trackdays & Sunday mornings in the country. I have to say I was tremendously impressed by the time it posted. I expected it to be very quick, but that time (and Stig's driving) was just exceptional. *Personally I want the black Corvette :D
  10. Well I wasn't working today but I had a ride down the A3 this afternoon in an Audi RS4 (B5) running the best part of 500bhp. I can assure you that my mood was definately improved by that experience. In fact QED :)
  11. That's really cool, but I raise you one chromed Bugatti Veyron ->
  12. Frankly considering it had an automatic (as opposed to DSG) gearbox I'm amazed he's willing to own up to even owning it in the first place. And what on earth was the thief thinking? How embarassing...
  13. Well my old VR6 could be stretched out to over 35mpg on a good run with a light foot, but this one struggles to get more than 25mpg even on a gentle run, and 21mpg is more typical. Bloody modified engines! Running R888 rubber is a detriment to mpg too - subjectively I reckon around 3-4mpg easily. On track days it's even worse. My "record" so far is a miserable 6.8mpg at Castle Combe and no, I don't have a charger... :(
  14. Well considering where Clarkson placed the normal Scirocco on the cool wall I wonder if someone is going to buy a tank of liquid nitrogen to put the more powerful GT24 edition into, LOL.
  15. Ho-lee... shi-tte. I thought I'd seen some utterly minging body addenda in my time on this earth, but this catalogue takes the biscuit, eats the rest of the pack, and then runs off to the supermarket to buy more. Has Kazakstan entered the car modifying market or something? Jee-see-see-zuss. I almost want to write to these mongrels and complain. More to the point if I see any Corrado wearing this kiit at a show next season I will personally take a sledgehammer to the whole car. Utterly fugging minging...
  16. As someone who has a Quaife I think I disagree! Although in theory using an ATB should help traction it really is unhelpful to have one in situations where you might lose all front end grip. With an ATB fitted both wheels will lose lose grip at the same moment but more worrying both regain grip at the same moment too. In reality there are two impacts from this : (a) You will end up driving more quickly than you should without realising it... right up to the point where you lose the entire front end in a big way. (b) As the wheels regain traction together you get a monumental tank-slapper. Really it ain't fun to experience, trust me. But back to the point, the best advice I can give the OP is to buy snow chains. If heavy snow is a regular problem get snow tyres - which are legal across most of Europe and I have seen them used in Scotland too. Keep the inputs smooth, change up at low RPM, brake early & use engine braking wherever possible.
  17. I was thinking exactly the same thing. Having at one point paid 136.9/litre earlier in the summer I was ready to feint on Sunday when I filled up in Banbury Tescos at a relatively piffling 94.9p for super unleaded. It seems so long ago that super u/l was under 1.00/litre mark. And then the next day that barsteward chancellor cranked the tax up. Wnakers the lot of them.
  18. My poor Brembos look like they've done the Le Mans 24h race. They're battered, caked in dust and there's even a bit of overspray where I've quickly touched up the satin black paint on my wheels. I don't think setting the pads alight every time I've tracked it at Castle Combe has done a lot for the finish either  In fact they're like the rest of the car really, but I'd rather have them looking abused... hardcore :D
  19. It was more the lock up that eventually happened because the whole tyre was so thin. The bald rubber around the rest of the tyre was less than 1mm thick everywhere. Doh !
  20. Ok I have to admit I got sidetracked last weekend and didn't get the kit fitted. I'm also away for the next couple of weekends and I'm not doing it by torchlight either so it will be a couple of weeks until I fit it. I also want to diagnose an issue with my Trimsport loom (I'm on the stock loom right now). However I can report that the kit I mentioned above appears to be excellent. It comes in a branded box, well packaged, with shaped cutouts in the foam for the componants. There's a good pack of instructions with wiring diagrams and a step-by-step fitting guide, and the wiring/componants appear to be decent quality. I'm sorry if this lets anyone down to wait for another couple of weeks. What I would say to anyone wondering "should I buy" is frankly to go ahead and buy one. I got mine for a bid of only £2.50 (£32.50 delivered) - at that kind of money it's not a decision that should be affected by the cost. I'll get my coat...
  21. My old car (M100 VRG) had completely smoked rears with no slots or strips anywhere, and looked the danglies if I say so myself. Works best with dark colours (in this case Moonlight Blue). Reflectors & lens colours were fine and passed MOT for many years. The trick is just not to spray too much foliatec on. So many people put on too many coats IMHO. One or two is all you really need.
  22. I'll have to try and do some "before" and "after" photos or something :D
  23. This is the first time I've seen this thread. By sheer co-incidence I'm due to pick up a HID upgrade kit from the post office later today. Kit supplied from eBay shop (eBay shop = OMG_SO_COOL_CAR) in China but the delivery is pukka as I got a reference from a friend who also bought a kit from them. I've seen the kit installed on a car & it definately works. If you want to avoid the blue tinge I'm told that you should opt for the 4300k kits instead as they work just the same, but with a pure white light. You don't get more power with the 6000k bulbs as the number refers to the colour temperature - not the power. I should have them installed by the end of the weekend (weather permitting). As someone who often has to cover Dorset's country roads at night this is one upgrade I'm very happy to be fitting.
