Good to see so many of you yesterday. A few interesting themes coming through, and one dodgy/dangerous one - Satin paint jobs - Quilted roofs - Carbonfibre - Stupidly / dangerous stretches (bad!) As Andy665 commented I don't think there was quite as much diversity this year. The show is definately going new-skool except for the display of Mk1 Roccos, but it was still a great day out and I'm sure the crowds were up on last year. Have attached a few pictures below, will put a gallery link up to some more a bit later. John p.s. Massive thumbs up to my mate Dan Steele for the Nurburging spoof on the back of his 20vt Golf Rallye (see pic). And yes, he has been stopped by the Scots police, and yes they did comment on it !

Now have the UK D1 drifting dates added, and following a bit of kind help from the mods have now posted up the "full fat" version of the file with everything in one list. The Nothelle I had was actually Nothelle's press car, and is the one which was reviewed in VW Driver magazine at the time. The engine had a flowed head and some bits which allegedly took it up to 215bhp. The car also had bespoke suspension (I sold the bespoke springs to Hasan last summer), bespoke leather interior, signature steering wheel and mats, plus the aircon. The car was originally also supplied with some very fetching (not) 16" wheels. In web photos they also came with twin headlamps but my car never had those for some reason. But I've recently put some in pro headlights on so (in a kind of way) I've attended to that detail :)

I know I've mentioned this elsewhere but I replaced my front bearings with GSF supplied items in 2009 and they both needed replacing again last summer with less than 12,000 miles on them. The quality was an utter disgrace frankly, and more so considering the context that they were sold as fit for a 150mph performance car. If you have a TPS near you then use them, as they only supply genuine parts and not third rate Chinese bearings which are made out of butter. If you buy the GSF ones to save money you deserve everything you get. Hope this helps, John

I think you'll find that back in the day £20,500 was the price for a base car. If you wanted leather, aircon, headlight washers, cd changer - all that stuff was extra My own car was a Nothelle tuned car with bespoke interior. Original cost back in 1993 was over £28,000. unsurprisingly they sold even less of those than Volkswagen did. Indeed I believe there are at best as many Nothelle cars in the UK as there are Campaigns.

Ok Ultimate Dubs is only a few days away now & so it's time for a bump. I will be there on Sunday with Andy665. Hopefully we'll have a few less Bentley/Lambo wheels on show this year, some good deals to be had on the trade stands and hopefully get a few pics to post up next week.

Good luck with the (provisional) sale, it would be a shame to see a car that's had so much time & effort put in just broken up.

TBH a lot will depend on how low your car actually is. If it's just "low" in the normal sense you'll be ok but if you're driving a real ground scraper then bring spanners and be prepared to take the bumper off. I would suggest that if your car is unable to clamber over a normal speed bump without scraping the front spoiler you could well be in trouble. The baffled sump will make no difference, and indeed with a G60 you'd be better off than a slammed VR6 whose sump is lower than yours is. HTH John

The Miura SV really was something else. Hell it was even bright red. I think it's going on my informal list as one of the ten most beautiful cars I've ever seen. You just had to hear it as well. Lamborghini would make a fortune if they just put it back into production I think.

Well Ron & I were there until about 10:30 - you should have given me a ring John! Not as big a display as the German themed event in November, but what a wonderful variety of cars brought out today. The Tesla was interesting (especially since it was a customer car - they found someone daft enough to spend £90k on a milk float) but frankly give me that red Lamborghini Miura SV any day Some thumbnails below (gallery here) to give those of you who couldn't get there today an idea of the event

Quentin Willson handed the petition into No10 on Thursday. Looks to me like the price of oil is now escalating so quickly that the Government are making noises about doing something, although to be frank the stuff I read in the paper about abandoning the next 1p duty rise is now such a pathetic response in the face of the 10-12p/litre which has gone on since Christmas that I wonder if the Government still "get it" at all.

I wouldn't be so fast to ignore the oil pressure warning. I wouldn't take that chance until I was absolutely sure of the cause. I've lost a VR6 engine to failed pressure (spun the big engine bearing) but if your light is on and you just choose to ignore it you could easily be looking at 200kg of scrap iron in your engine bay.

No! No! No! No! No! If the motorway limit is increased to 80mph then the Police will feel the obligation to enforce it afresh (to ensure the message gets over) whereas at the moment lots of people safely do 80-90mph and the Police mostly only intervene if you're tailgating or taking the mickey. I agree with Wendy.This is a classic piece of Government spin doctoring, and the media have fallen for it. The headline is "we're going to be nice and give you higher motorway limits" whereas the real story is that almost every other limit we're going to get screwed once again. I didn't think the Government had any money? Who is going to pay for all the new signage involved?
