Y'know those young lads will never figure out that you really do need 6 cylinders :)

I think the line is : "I was defending my property your honour" Seriously though I believe there is an interesting distinction in the law on these matters. Wiring up the door handles is actually illegal, and has been proven in case law in the case of an engineer about 10-12 years ago who was prosecuted who wired up a circuit with a 40A truck battery and big capacitors to the handles of his Sierra Cosworth which electrocuted a thief (threw him 10ft across the car park from recollection). The judgement hinged on the fact that the modification was a threat to public safety as theoritically anyone could have touched or brushed against the door. However inside the car itself is a different matter. I don't believe the law prohibits you from installing a non-lethal device inside the car, but I am not aware that this has actually been tested in court. Certainly there are commercially available devices which do things like activate sonic devices inside the car which cause pain to anyone sittting inside, and there is another which fills the interior with thick gas. However my imagination conjures up thoughts of electrifying the ingnition or gearnob, or perhaps a sharp spike under the seat :D. Question is... how well do you trust your own wiring for it not to go off (and ram a spike into your ringpiece) while you re driving the car to the shops? Hmm... decisions, decisions.... John

Bally, I wonder if your next mod shouldn't be to find a way to wire up 40,000 volts to the door handles. It would be rather illegal but hey - you'd catch the criminal (fried like a crispy roast chicken still holding the door handle), LOL John

This is a bit amazing, Jesse is a young Dutch lad who suffers from a muscle disorder and is wheelchair bound. He is also Subaru mad. Jesse asked if someone could arrange for him to go in a Subaru - check this link to see what happened : http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.p ... ge=1&pp=20

I don't even get 12,000 miles out of a set of Toyo T1-S tyres ! They are a great all round tyre though those Toyos. If you really wanna go mental, and aren't too worried about wear rates, try these ones... the Toyo R888

Good luck Paul. John

I agree. There's no real point in going out to 3.0 unless you are saving a trashed 2.9 lump. If you are wanting to do big power gains with a VR6 the best starting point nowadays is probably a 24v lump - especially if you are considering forced induction at a later date. John

If you re-order the search list, there's someone trying to sell a 58.000 mile Storm for £14,000 ! Ouch!

Well at least you guys were at a VW show. We were up at Edition38, but on Sunday morning the whole of Club Lupo buggered off first thing to go to Trax!!! I mean what kind of choice to make is that? Leave probably the best show of the year, to park up all day with a load of Saxo boyz!! I guess some people wanna support the scene more than others eh? John

How busy was it at VW Action ?

There is a Sprinter due imminently. Not only has Jeremy had to move house this summer, but articles for the current edition have been hard to come by. I myself will own up and say I promised him a couple of pieces before the deadline which I didn't get done as I promised him (don't worry, he' smacked me hard and I've promised to do better for the next one). It's an unfortunate fact of life that regardless of your work and holiday commitments, the deadlines for things like this (and the Southern Mega-Meet) don't move to accomodate your circumstances. Putting the mag together is a challenging job, moreso if you are running your own business, raising a family and there is a shortage of material from the members. I will take my deserved beating over the delay I caused to Jeremy, but at the same time I'd reiterate that the Sprinter does not write itself, so if you would like to write an article for the mag, just write it up and send it to Jeremy. Believe me the satisfaction of seeing your stuff in print (compared with on a forum) is very rewarding. Cheers, John

Nice result there Lee. I like it lots. Look forward to smudging my fingers all over it at E38 :-P John

It would be a bit poor if we Corrado owners earned a reputation with Golf+ as a bunch of chavvies who are too cheap to shell out £3.70 for a magazine. I'm sure that would encourage them to feature more Corrados in future editions. Just my 2p worth...

Well it's just Andi might get into trouble if copyrighted material was available (or linked) from this site. In addition it's also a bit hard to read your PC sitting on the loo isn't it? :D
-
Well aside from the obvious copyright issues, I happen to know Steve Kirk (editor of Golf+) quite well so my suggestion is to dig your hand into your pocket and just stump up - it's only a couple of quid  John
-
It's also got a nice little Gold 2 litre Mk1 Golf GTi in it, which has been owned by a lad who's local to me for many years now. In the article he admits he once had his Mk1 over 140mph... what it doesn't say is that at the time he was chasing me in it, and I was pulling away from him at the time ! Ahhh, the bad old days... I don't drive like that these days.

Congrats to Guy for getting his supercharged VR6 Storm featured in September's Golf+ magazine. Nice action mate. John

Sounds like a plan Jay. I've texted Kev in Weymouth yesterday and he's speaking to the lads down there about coming up. Funnily enough I actually saw Jason in town last night and he seems up for it too.
-
.... and there's Marc (VR6) and Jason (VR6 on split rims) and Shah (yellow G60) + about 10 other club members all on Bournemouth postcodes. Nexty Sunday you say? I think that sounds do-able. I will call the Weymouth lads too & see if they're about & up for it. Suggest we go to the Smuggler's Haunt (on the A31 nr Ferndown) again, if only because they have a big car park & they didn't seem to mind us turning up in numbers before? James/Andy - can you consider ringing around your Club GTi mates & inviting them too? More dubbers the merrier I reckon. So - if anyone reading this thinks they can do a trip to just north of Bournemouth next Sunday let us know! John

Andy, I have a few phone numbers in the phone book. I believe Richard Bloomfield may have recently sold his car though. Funnily enough I came across Ram (who used to be a frequent poster on here) earlier this evening near Merley. His car is still looking good.. I'm a bit tied up for the next couple of weeks, but maybe we could do a night in a local pub mid August ?- am happy to make some calls. John p.s. My car isn'tt on Kahn's ! I have Mim Amalfi 's - more expensive than Kahn's, and nicer looking too IMHO !

This kind of road surface could actually be illegal. I bet if you were to contact the dept of transport to enquire they could clarify this for you. I cannot believe that there is not a minimum standard that public roads have to adhere to. The reason I say this is because this kind of road surface is a clear hazard. You had your windscreen brokjen, but what if you had had your window open and the stone had struck you in the face (or eye?) Car drivers don't have the worst of it - this surface is even more hazardous to motorcyclists and even more so to pedestrians. So - get on the phone. If that fails, then stand by the roadside and then sue the f*ck out of them when you get hit by a stone. John

I'm still trying to imagine a world where everyone wears alcon beanies, :rocol:

How about modifiying this ? http://zapatopi.net/afdb.html#BUILD :D

I wonder if the data in the list on that first link is for the Corrado SLC rather than the VR6 because I've seen lots of VR6s run sub 16s even for standard cars, and 15.5s is possible with a decent driver. The list quotes 17.7s :?

Do you keep it in bubble wrap as well? ;) Er no, my annual milage is around 18,000 (car currently has 128,000 on an M-plate) of which I do around 3,500 just to events. Translated, that means I spend around £500 in petrol each year just driving to/from VW shows, before I even pay the entry fee (into the show), get a burger, or buy any shiny bits ! Sorry if I was a bit ambigous ! John
