We bore out the Throttle body's for the G40's and in the past i've done the old audi 80 sport big bore TB swap onto a 1.8 mk1 golf with good results. The main gains we get on the G40's is just bags of throttle responce, there is not a great hike in power, the car just feels a lot more drivable on the throttle. Trouble is this encourages you to drive the car like a arsehole balancing the car on the throttle with the back end out controling it on the loud pedal.

The figures you have are a bit arbitory. Works out to a 83mm bore which is not going to give you 2.0l on the stock PG crank. What units are the dish measurements you have given in ? Is the compression ratio a quoted one or the compression you are looking to achive? What you need to know is the stroke of the crank you are using, the bore diameter you are stepping up to, the volume of the combustion chamber in the head you plan to use, the thickness of the headgasket you ar going to use, from this the volume of the dish of the bowl can be calculated to achive the compression rtio you are desiring.

Intercooler kits are in progress. The new cores have been ordered as has the appropriate pipework to plumb in the kit. At present we are extreamly busy preparing our own and customers cars for inters, so we have had to prospone the intercoolers for a while as we have had to priorotise our work. All the raw materials will be here at our disposal so we can gat stright on things as soon as oppertunity arrises.

Hello, I'm quite distressed to read this. We are a business who like to uphold our reputation, we pride ourselfs on being honest and upfront with customers. Myself Liam and Darren keep a diary between us as so we do not overbook work as so everybody gets 100% attention to their cars when they come to us and we are not rushing about trying to juggle jobs sacrificing workmanship. Bearing inmind we have a avarage of 5-15 cars come in a week for various work this is essential for a smooth opperation Wednesday Liam was at the unit from 7.30am, myself from 10.30am and Darren in and out in passing until 8pm in the evening. Anyone who has booked an appointment with us we have not failed to keep, their are countless customers on this forum alone who will validate this claim. I can assure you I would answer your call, at the end of the day by ignoring it i'm effectivly ignoring the prospect of earning money, which in anybodys book does not make sence. We work long unothodox hours to keep customers happy, this evening we have been working until 10pm to complete customers car and keep people happy, we regularly work from early until late evening to keep customers happy. It is completly againced our ethics to brush off customers being it wheather they are spending £1 or £1000. I can understand you are frustrated for having a wasted trip and obviously though you posting on this forum to vent your frustrations ilustrates this this. I can honsetly say a msiunderstanding like this has never happened before or for that matter will happen again. If you are still intending to have the work carried out I will gladly refund you the petrol you have used on your wasted trip and do the work on yor car at a discounted rate. I will reitterate this is a isolated case and there would be many simular post to yours from angery customers if we were to let people down on a regular basis.

Gav will always be H100 VW.... LOL.. or H10 OVW as one of the friendly north london coppers pointed out 'You index plate is incorrectly spaced mate, I don't have a problem, but some coppers would' we laughed and said we were swapping the plate so would not be a problem.
-
The Epic Journey, Brighton - Gavs no problem. Gavs - oxford no problem.. then Darren says 'We will be back in 2 hours!!' Five mins later i'm on the hardsholder of M40 with a snapped throttle cable on my G40, managed to bodge it while a nice motoway patrol police officed shined his torch on my engine bay. Caught up with Darren, then we went on a 20mile detour around nth london as the M40-M25 sliproad was shut. Managed to attract the attention of two bored Police officers who were inquisertive to why 2 phreaks in LHD VW's were making a noise on their patch at 2am. LOL..All back safe and sound at 3am.. cheers Gav

We are developing a range of chrome 'MG' style performance touring luggage racks and polished grill badges to complement the 'AA' badge for the more discerning VR driver .

Modifyed and ported bass bins tuned to your prefered spec, by beavis and his hammer for superior sonic boom. nuff boost
-
We had to abandon the bench tests on yours Funki, one turn of your blower and there was enough boost to blow the doors off the unit!! Too much.
-
LOL.. pulls 'nough boost Funki, .. left my hammer in ye bass bin while I was modding it for more 'Sonic boom'

Indeed, the idea of the forums is for everyone to discuss their view though experinces with different systems, hence why I have not commented about DTA. If you read what I said, I said do not discount emerald just as it does not have a knock sensor and basically you can fit devices that relay the same information so you do not cause undue damage to the engine if pinking occurs. Basically the same situation as on yours, if pink occurs and is displayed though any media, be it a combined part of the ECU or secondary device, you can alter the map accoringly to prevent it reocuring. Yes the bosch system retards the ignition when pinking occurs and feeds ingintion advance back on until the car is running safly again. The idea of having standalone is so you can adjust the car to run at is optimum in all conditions by altering the maps. The other reason I reccomended the Emerald is because of the 'Drop of a hat' technical support Dave walker offers, that counts for a lot when purchasing a product.

Yep, knock link style set up, you can adjust the sensertiverty of the unit to amplify even the smallest pinking that the sensor detects. You can install the unit permanatly to indicate when pink is occuring and it is displayed via a led on the dash board flashing. May seem a little simplistic, but that illumination of that 3p diode could potentially save you ££ on rebuilding a engine. I'll hunt the details out of the kit for you mate.

LOL.. Our elusive, manic, G40 is a bit of a beast, yes, traction (or lack of) is quite a issue even with LSD. No traction contol as yet, but yes, you have pre emptied the question  . Should be putting an apperence in at some shows this year.
-
That was yesterday mate... we sold it for good money today!!! Well go halfs with ya... 4grand for us, 2.5k for you..Fair deal?? :)
-
Throttle cables are only about £18-20 quid from VAG and take about half hour to fit.
-
LOL.. Liam always likes to take nice cars on 'Extended test drives' ... Only to just to ensure that the problem is well and truly rectified! :D... Damm it ..the V-works project is out the bag now!!

RS2 can mean anything. There is no LOL .. how shall we put it 'industry spec' that claify's what degree of porting is named as what. From what i can gather from chargers that have been previously rebuilt in Germany to 'RS2' spec, and have then rebuilt ourselfs at a later date, is that the openings to the top chambers have been removed and the openings to the back chambers opened up with the flashing of the outlet taken away but not enlarged. Not a substantial amount of porting by UK standerds. There are some charger that also have the RS label that have 3 of the exit support legs removed!! Avoid buying these, they have no structural strength and are a time bomb waiting to happen. In saying that they were a passing phase that SLS had, this came to a end after a few failed. Fortunatly this most companys avoid doing this and the ones that have been ported to this spec have already failed. You may want to contact 'LowG' of G-tuned (PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH MY COLLEUGE DARREN OF G-WERKS, TO CLAFIFY NOTHING TO DO WITH G-TUNED, AS A FEW PEOPLE HAVE CONFUSED THE TWO) on this forum. He has RS2 chargers advertised for sales, so I can only assume he can knows the full spec of the units he is selling and what porting has been done to gain the title RS2.

Don't be put off by the lack of knock sensor, the knock sensor is basically a 'Idiots' device for everyday cars. A properly mapped car will not need a knock sensor as the parameters that cause pinking will not alter. Pinking will occur if you do not have enough compensatory correction fueling for higher inlet tempretures, mapped properly this will not occur. Lower than normal fuel pressure or poor flowing injector will cause it to pink, buy a AFR gauge and FP gauge and this will help you keep a eye on matters. Wrong spark plugs, use a cooler plug more suited to higher boost applicarions. To much ignition advance, again a mapped properly this is not a issue. Basically, if you are know what is going on you will not need a knock senser to retard things as you will pick up on them via gauges. We have a very effective diagnositcs device that actually indicates 'pinking' via a LED which illuminates when pinking occurs, a good safty device. You can buy emerald and the secondary diagnostics knock sensor for less than the DTA.... and the other gauges too if you wanted for that matter.

Emerald is quality kit, we have one of our own cars running on it. A very adaptable comprehensive system and is ideal for cars which are going to be played with lots and need to be run differrent maps for different situations or for development as it has its own datalogging which is useful to see what effects the modifacation you are making to the maps have upon the Air fuel etc. Dave Walker from emerald is a very helpful chap and will give you full support upon his product. Having saying that you need to consider whether you will make use of the extra functions the set up offers you. Your original Digifant system is a very adaptable system and can be mapped to suit your needs, modifactions, injectors etc and should not be dismissed as you have a very good base system there. The deciding factor is this. If you can see yourself actually using standalone system yourself to manipulate the maps and can see yourself playing with it on regular occurence then invest in standalone. If you are just going to fit the system, take it to somone to be mapped once and not utilise the benifits of standalone, save your cash. Somone who knows how to map correctly will get the results you want with the digifant. You will gain no more power or drivablity on standalone over digifant if mapped correctly. The key to any system is the map regardless of whether it be standalone or stock. DTA I personnaly don't have any experience or dealing with so am unable to comment on how it compares to the other products. Emerald is good kit, you just need to decide wheter you will utelise it. It is like buying a set of coilovers, unless you are going to taylor the ride height regularly then you may aswell just buy the setup with the height/damping of a fixed height kit that will suit your needs.

..spend 3k on a PG based engine.. pistons etc... and 12k on a field..and a load of pikies with nicked tarmac and have myself my own test track built to rape the G60 on!!
-
Don't need to win the lottery. Just helping a lad finish off a 16v G60 he is doing on 2.5k budget and cutting no corners either, so you don't need big cash at all to go down this route if you choose.
-
Both ideas were nicked off my G40 running no boost return... LOL. darn!!! Knew I should have patented it!
-
Yes, but you have to blank all vacume hoses that lead back to the manifold but leave the bigger fuel tank vent hose to go to air.
-
BP ultimate is not quite up to the quality of Optimax. You can set a G60 up to the limit of the point that it odes not 'pink' on Optimax and then got fill it up with BP ultimate and the bugger pinks and you have to retard ignition timing. Our Datalogger indicates pinking earlier on BP ultimate than on optimax. Ultimate is just rebranded 97RON fuel , Optimax seems to be a little more technically advanced athough you can get poor batches of optimax as it uses a magnesium catalyst as it effective octane booster so tends to 'go off' as it is unstable. If you fill up at a petrol station that does not have a quick turn around of optimax fuel it may be a little less potent if it is old fuel.
