OK, so we changed the oil cooler, oil filter, oil and coolant at the weekend. Was easy to do, just a bit fiddly because of where it's all positioned! Thanks again to everyone that gave me advice, saved me a lot of money because I could do it myself and did not have to take it to garage. Just keeping my fingers crossed now that oil doesn't start to appear in expansion tank again! :roll:

I don't value the car at all, in fact I bloody hate the thing!! But I'll change the oil anyway!!

It's all very well for tree huggers to tell everyone to use public transport but the last time I checked they don't run a bus service that stops at all the farms in my county that I need to visit, and I'm certainly not going to bike round the county !! :roll:

Ok, good, sounds like it's not my head gasket then because I don't have any of those symptoms on my car. I will change the oil cooler at weekend, I'm assuming I'll need to change coolant too to get rid of oil in there? Can I use the G12+ that I bought for my 16v 'rado? And, last question I promise, how easy is it to change oil cooler?

Does anyone know how many of these 'seal for oil cooler' I will need?

I don't really know what pressure testing it would involve but when I removed the cap of the expansion tank thing after driving for about an hour there was not much of a pressure release, this would suggest a leak somewhere wouldn't it? Also the sealing gaskets you mentioned, would these be the 'seal for oil cooler' that gsf have?

Would these things suggest something else then? Well, even though it's a turbo it didn't have much power to begin with but no, no loss of power! Sometimes it doesn't turn over properly And no, no mayo under the oil filler cap (haven't checked recently but did an oil change about a month ago and it was ok) Thanks for your help guys, will check the oil cooler at the weekend. What exactly am I looking for? Will there be obvious leaks?

Great now I have two cars with strange oil leaks requiring potentially expensive work :( I'll check the oil cooler then.......

I've had my diesel golf for about 3 months now. A few weeks ago the coolant light starts flashing so I pull over and check the level (I'd only just started driving so couldn't be temp). Level was fine, so I started engine, light was no longer flashing, so I forgot about it and went on my way. Has happened about twice since, light flashes so I pull over stop the engine for a few minutes, start her up again, light isn't flashing anymore. Anyway, realised today that there is oil in the coolant. How does oil get in the coolant? (No, I didn't put it there)

We got ours second hand from dinkus so no sticky things with it.....

I don't think early corrados have ABS, I don't think my valver did anyway. I may be wrong though, I usually am!! :oops:

Well Chris Knott are definately not going to have £400 in their back pocket from me!! That kind of money is better spent on the VR in other ways!! I'm going to ring them tomorrow and see if they're prepared to beat Flux to keep my business but I doubt it very much..... Cheers for the info Henny but the trouble with online companies is that they won't insure modded cars, you have to ring up and then of course you don't get the discount :x

Just got my renewal quote from Chris Knott using Highway insurance. £900!! That's for me and Alex as named driver, I have 6 years ncb and an sp30. Been ringing around because I know I can get cheaper. Just rang Flux and they have quoted me £508 from Highway insurance!! The same bloody company but £400 cheaper. How can that be? Insurance companies are a mystery to me?!!

Red K reg parked outside shop in Easter Compton about 5 last night. Green K reg along Southmead Rd this morning, blonde lady driver.

The VR is coming off the road at the end of september for some engine work (No Alex you can't put a turbo in there). Going to wait till after december to put her back on the road (I'll be 25 then and hopefully insurance might be cheaper !!)

Followed a red k reg g60 through easter compton towards pilning about 12 ish today. I was in mk3 grey golf.
