Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive November 05]
blackcat replied to Dub_nut_g60's topic in General Car Chat
H reg blue 16v, seen around longwell green area a few times. Saw in Asda car park on Friday afternoon?? -
I was looking in my passenger side door pocket at the weekend and put my hand is some old melted chocolate eclairs (the sweet not the cake) Nice!
-
I'll be doing this at some point when I've found out where the leak is coming from (think it might be radiator :( ) GSF list an expansion tank for all 4 cylinder 'rados. Bizarrely GSF list a tank cap for the golf just not the tank itself. However, the part number for the tank cap for the corrado is the same part number as the tank cap for the golf........leading me to think that maybe the tank might be the same?
-
I've only put G12+ in there, but I've only had the car about 6 months. GSF don't have expansion tanks listed for the golf but they do for a 'rado, are they the same, do you think?
-
Hmmm, probably the sender playing up then. There is some gooey stuff in the coolant which might be sticking to the sender prong things and stopping the connection. Don't know what the gooey stuff is, thought it was oil but there is big clumps of it. Would oil form big clumps?
-
There is actually a small leak somewhere in the cooling system (haven't pinpointed it yet) but that's not the problem. I make sure that the water is topped up all the time. However, for some reason the coolant light has started to flash even when there's enough water in there. It's really annoying because I keep pulling over to top the water up and its fine but the light keeps on flashing!! Why is it doing this? Am I right in thinking that all the light indicates is coolant level? So why is it flashing when the level is fine?? (btw, this is in the golf)

I don't know how much detail RAC/AA inspections go into. You could ask to see any receipts of work they may have had done. Start engine up and watch to see if loads of smoke comes out the exhaust (like my VR does ). Also I think the timing chain gets noisy if it's on it's way out.
-
Does anyone know what radweld looks like? I think someone has used it in my golf once upon a time. There are bits of goo floating about in the water in the expansion tank.
-
Yay! another girl member! Hello and welcome! Not sure about you saving money owning a corrado though!!
-
ok, I'll try that :)
-
In my VR, the driver window goes up/down with one touch but the passenger side doesn't. It's quite annoying.

Saw butterfly this morning, on the roundabout by Aspects, Longwell Green. I was in the golf so you didn't see me! -
Yeah, good luck with it. Rather you than me - I'd guess you need extreme patience to teach someone to drive. At least you'll get dual control!
-
The slower the speed when the spoiler comes up the better! (Only because I like to watch it go up in the rear view mirror and not looking where you're going is not good when you're going fast!!) I've had a 'rado for over a year now, and still the spoiler fascinates me
-
run away 'rado :( - another update - fat lady sings.

OMG, I am amazed at your sense of humour about this, don't think I would be like that if it happened to me!! -
I've had this problem twice, with two different reasons on two different cars. First was I didn't have spiggot (sp?) rings, second was rear alloy was dented on the inside.
-
I was with Chris Knott (using Highway Ins) and they quoted me £1000 for renewal. I rang Adrian Flux and they quoted me £500 using the same company (highway)!! I rang Chris knott to tell them to stick their quote where the sun don't shine and suprise suprise they matched the quote. £500 is a BIG difference, wtf were they charging me an extra £500 for??

I saw the tail end of a corrado on near Longwell Green Asda last night about 5.15pm ish. Don't know what colour/model just noticed the cheeky rear end as I pulled up to roundabout. -
Cheers Dom, but it needs to be done tomorrow so GSF will have to do. Thanks anyway :)
-
Yeah, it is 8) . I can do simple things like oil changes, even did the brake discs and pads once but I think the wheel bearings are best left to people who know what they're doing! I'll stick to making them cups of tea :D
-
ha ha. No, looks like they'll be getting wet!! Got a big fishing umbrella!
-
lol, yeah I knew what you were going to say about the press, just teasing :D I don't know what they're going to do about it but I'm sure they have it all in hand.
-
Are you implying that because I'm female that I can't?? :D Anyway, no I'm not personally doing it, the other half and his brother are.
-
Thanks for the quick reply! So I need two kits. Will I need anything else to do the job?
