Mines on 127,000 and I get blue smoke on prolonged overun when the engine is hot. Will be trying to get hold of some of this to do a quick filter change before the RR day. Will let you know if i get the same results as Kev, fingers crossed. Have to say mine also looks nice and shiny on the lobes also, but on paper its never been more than 8k without a service.

Well I was thinking this site has been lacking some love recently, so I dragged Tekara (Ross) away from his chinese at 10pm tonight for a quick shoot (so to speak). I had this problem with the rear when fitting my new wheels. I didnt fit spacers i took a hammer to the hub nut covers, job done! In my defence they were already dented, just not quite as flat as they now are!

Second ones working, just not the first. They obviously dont wnat us pilfering it!!

I think they only do one type mate, the red ones. They are stonking compared to the G&S ones i had. Much stiffer and just go in the channels really snug. Oh bear in mind these are for a coil pack VR guys, ie as per the ford galaxy 2.8vr, so will not be long enough for the dizzy boys! My tip is when you go in to ford just winj that they are £106 and dont mention the VW price!! He gave me a 20% trade/staff discount with very little badgering!! listing is under a 1995 M plate galaxy, cant go wrong hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GPC & VAG spares can get these last time i phoned them. VAG also listed them as available but at over £50 each!! GPC etc are more like £30 per side. That was about 2 months ago, so they may have since been discontinued??

I remember an article in one of the car mags a few years back where they ran 3 brand new cars on 95. They took the engines apart and phtographed the valves and piston tops etc. They then cleaned them and ran them on optimax for the same 4000 miles againa dn took them apart. Must have been an expensive test, using 3 diff cars i can only remember one was a 321bhp m3 engine. Cut a long story short, 95 was noticeably coked up but after the Optimax they all looked bling tasticly clean and shiney!! I've never used anythign else since. Apart from when i went to my last stealth run i got caught short and had to stick 95 in doohhhh! Made me even more chuffed with my figures though! I do wonder if that amount of cleaning will affect the oil coating on bore surfaces etc though ? ? ? ?

For info, sorry if its been posted before: If you want a set of OEM VR6 plug leads but don't want to pay Uncle Fag £130, buy them from Ford! I bagged a set today and got the guy down to £83 !! Wow, these all look awsome and I'd agree with phat in that his set are a dream but i dont have that kinda money unfortunately! Perhaps TT's from egay and a black leather retrim on the standards in the back? I presume a rear retrim in leather would be the same price regardless of them currently being cloth or kn.ckered leather?

I'm currently adding some footwell lighting to my C under the two front trays. not colour led disco inferno :oops: , just subtle normal lighting to come on with the interior light only. 8) Did this easy on my audi but i cant figure out the wiring on the C. I'm attacking it from the passenger side wires that come out of the door switch bit into the footwell, but i cant seems to get a live feed. There appears to be 2 wires there, black and grey/blue both very thin. Anyone know what to tap into, do i need my own live feed and this as the switched earth? Cheers N

Sounds like a great idea mate, keep us post on how its going. I love the torque in deisals, something thats missing from the vr6 low down. Allways a suprise on a 2.9, but hey guess its the narrow angle compromise. Go for it.

I presume the sensor could fail in such away as to be inacurate at low temps, ie prob where voltage is lower if thats how it works, but i think matt is right about the stat for sure and again, its peanuts to buy. Stat housing wouldnt re seal on mine, and it turned out to be cracked and warped i beleive. Its a pest to get down there twice if as you say your "green" as i was. Might be worth getting the stat and housing. Not trying to get you to spend more, just letting you knwo what my experience was.

Yep, likewise with my 94 vr. Changed the blue jobbie that sit by the side of the rad iirc. Now it slowly creeps up to 85-90 (or just under in this weather) and stays there. Goes up to 100 in traffic but drops down to above when fan cuts in you get some speed back up again. Worth a shot as that sensor is fairly cheap in the scheme of things. Actually matt has just reminded me i had the stat and housing done at the same time so it could of been either!! Out of interest what oil temp does your mfa show mate??

Where are you in hants? Ross (Tekara on here) and I are both in Hants and he now has a full vag com set up on a laptop. If your reasonably close give us a shout and we could take a look and see whats been done to yours no probs. Sorry, speaking for Ross there too, but im sure he wont mind.
