    Brakes on fire

Dazzy, cheers mate. They sorted me just the 2 conversion pipes rather than buying a whole kit. Still waiting for my callipers, so her ass is still in the air and im still in mums 86 audi coupe. Not all bad as its only done 41k, and its about 50 times more torquey than my VR (until 3k anyway!) I hate fecking brakes!! I didnt ni[p the old calliper back on hard enough either so im swimming in brake fluid in the garage now!
  2. Well, guess whos sending there liscence off to get his address updated! Ill getem next time!
  3. So thats what an aqua blue VR should look like! BAST>RDS! I hate you both, and i mean that in a nice way
  4. I have an AVI clip of my car on the stealth rollers thats come out really well if anyone is interested. Unfortunately its 73.5mb for some reason! Can anyone suggest a way of converting it to some other format so i can post it up? Not sure what the limit is on here but i reckon its gotta be smaller than that! Jim, i know you offered but it will take a while to email to you.

and its a 40 mile drive! I even get them to double check the part out of the box and tell me to my face its right! I stopped using G&S because they kept giving me the wrong parts. Thats down to the "new owners" of the local franchise though I will say. The last lot were car enthusiasts, ie they knew what a car was. I accidently dropped the new calliper when i realised it would'nt fit, twice! Straight into vag tommorrow!

But it says corrado vr6 on the fecking box!! Luckily i hav'nt actually paid for any of it yet, so im keeping all the pads and they can have the calliper back plus no money. Im so tired of being given rubbish and wasting most of the weekend, now having to take a day off work they can go roll one for all i care. but they wont be getting the pads back, or any money this time! Got my TB fitted though, which is far more important than brakes imo !! lol cry!
  9. If you get done by a fix camera (or any i think) they have to inform you by post within 1 month. I got one after 3 months and got a letter back that was semi sarcastic! I can post it if you like, but in summary it said........ Thank you Mr Wood, you are correct. However, your current driving liscence address is not up to date. Therefore we offer you 2 choices. 1. Pay a £1000 fine for having an invalid driving liscence or 2. Pay the £65 and take the 3 points, and we will overlook no 1. Ballacks!

    Brakes on fire

HEY HOO, f..king b..tard bo..ocks I've been done right up the Gary again. Calliper was foobar btw, but ill be doing the pipes as well cheers guys. The sh.t bit ........Got everything off, lovely jubley. Brushed everything up, copper greased things smiling like an idiot went to put the new calliper on, ummm NO! Its 1cm too narrow to go over the brake pads FULLY wound back in, and a cm is quite a lot, too much for mallet time. I compared the new and old callipers wondering if it was the new green stuff pads but the calliper castings are a good cm narrower on the new ones so they wont fit. I now mk4s fit so i should stress that these are not vag ones!! The callipers are Guttmann ones from euro car parts and they supplied the green stuff pads too. Would be right in thinking that maybe these £39 callipers were'nt worth the saving over the vag items? Or have i missed something in the fitting??
  11. Thanks RW, i was thinking that might be an idea. My local garage said they would just put a slightly smaller bolt in and weld it on. Nit sure it would last without cracking though? Plus i cant see them getting a welder in there easily!! WHY DON'T VW SELL THE PART!!!!!!!!!????????????????
  12. Free bump here. IMO the clay bar is great, if you've never done it to your car before. The stage 3 carnoooobar wax is a great frquent use wax. As close as youll get too swizzol IMO. Less keen on the polish but i prob wasnt using it correctly and it was a hot day. Good stuff this though, and next time i need some ill buy it from you bud.
  13. Sorry, this is for the other halfs vento vr6, but im hopeing someone on here may be able to help with such a simple and boring problem! The exhaust is blowing really badly at the front. turns out on her (original vag) cat there are 2 lambda holes. One has the probe in but the other is blanked off with some sort of bolt. Well it was, but now its rusted and has a big hole in. My hilariously funny VAG man explained that they don't sell this plug and so i'd have to buy a new cat. OMG WTF are you talking about you strange little man, i'd rather weld a bake bean tin over the whole than spend £600 on a bit i dont need! Anyway. Does anyone either: -Know where to get one -Know the thread size (assume its same as the lambda one -Have a kunackered lambda sensor I can mod to fill the hole Cheers I'd rather be working on my own car-Nick
  14. Plastic thingies sort this dont they?
  15. Ignoring my headlight problem and missing my car after 2 days of the train i wtf'd it and ragged the raddo into work. Walking to the ticket machine an old lady pointed to my rear wheel and said my car was on fire, low and behold one the rear brakes had smoke pooring off it!!!! Turns out its a seized rear calliper. fecking yawn yawn, ive been through double figure rear callipers on mk1s and 2s and now the c's doing it. I was under the impression that the VRs had "anti seize" rear callipers, so what exactly does that mean then!??????????????????
  16. Cheers guys, and it would be nice to know if your switch cures it neil if you could let me know. Im scared to take my battery out becuase of this ecu reset proceedure shinanigans!
  17. Bugger, my wheel fettish takes a new turn then. Gold 16/17" scoobie speedlines and spacers. They are really quite cheap brand new on ebay and lots on there. I recon they'd look pretty good.
  18. I don't think they are harsh comments. The camera situation has become simply completely crazy. Yes, i have seen what a bad car accident looks like with kids involved and its very upsetting, espacially now i have a family. However, the camera are a fkinh joke now. The uk seem to completely ignore the guidlines for why they are there and where to put them. If road saftey was the real reason for them you would'nt get a fine or points, you would get education before being allowed back on the road, possibly that you ahve to pay for. I would say that the state of unmaintained british roads have as much to do with road safety, but sorry i must have missed the massive campaign on that one. Speed is a factor in all accidents granted, you rarely see 2 parked cars hit each other. But being serious, this country really does have a major major problem, and these cameras are giving bobies a bad name, most i speak to agreeing with the above. Off for a happy pill now. (im only bitter as i got done by one in a temp limit on the motorway twice! but all the signs were flat down on there faces with sand bags on top, so as far as i knew it was 70, not 50) and i was only doing 60 with nobody else around. Keep up the good work then! Aimed at the top brass there.
  19. Firstly i'm in salisbury, so looking at your address we are close. Im happy to meet you if you want a second pair of eyes. If not make sure you read the buyers guide or print it and take it with you. Price wise, id aim to pay 5k to 5.5k for it if its as it sounds. But its probably worth more than that with that mileage tbh. PM me if you want any help or to meet up bud.
  20. mmmmm, tekara, any chance of swoping switches for a 30 min test? I could do without buying that switch at the mo tbh. Cheers for all the info, turns out someone has rapped every wire under my bonnet in black tape about an inch thick. If i have to get to anything under it to find a problem i'll make one if there wasnt already. I HATE ELETRICS! Luckily im fitting a flowed TB at the mo, which is obviously far far more important!
  21. I'd like to know this too, along with - do scoobie fitment fit the VR? As they had some tasty gold or alloy coloured 16 and 17" speedlines very similar to the standard VR ones?
  22. Well i reckon im on about 4.5k in 8 months! More than half is stuff ive wanted though, its just things like this that really get me out of principle! The two fuel pipes are still the biggest ripper i've found to date though!
  23. £54.64.......................WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you serious!?
  24. It has an uprated loom but its been fitted badly and really doesnt look right apparantly. Im so rubbish with eletrics though!
