  1. Right usual trouble, cars running great so something had to break tonight while i was in winton. The steering lock mech has broken so the wheel won't turn and its locked in position, had the RAC out and he's tried to loosen the shear bolts to take the whole mech out but cannot undo the last bolt so ive had to leave the car at my mates house in winton. So i believe i need the steering lock/ignition barrel part (ignition lock housing?), whole unit asap but as i cannot drive the car the rac will tow it and drop it off somewhere so basically i need someone local who has the tools to undo the last shear bolt (may need drilling?) and fit a new mech and swap the ignition barrels over so ill have the same keys as i dont want one key for my door and another to start the car. I cant really get a part as i have no access to a car so id be utterly grateful for someones help as to locating the part as i need my car asap! if anyones really interested and can actually help please ring me so they can offer advice as i need to let the rac know where to drop my car off as my car park entrance is too small for it to be delivered here seeing as i cant steer into the car park! typical im basically asking if someone could accomodate the car and fix it when i get the part, i dont have the tools etc to loosen the bolt and cant even get it in our car park if someone has any advice please let me know as im stuck othrwise, id love to be able get the rac to drive it to g werks but id like to try and get it done locally just to save petrol as im pretty poor right now! many thanks craig 07920401222
  2. my 2p but an air box with a kn panel filter is just as good, route a cold air feed in there and alls good, taking out the snorkel will give more sound and bit more breathability also will a few holes on the wing side, or you can hava look at the swg induction set ups, around £200 though! each to their own hey
  3. its very nice and shiny but give it a week and there will be crap all over it again! im not saying theres no point in washing your car but thats probably not even 1k mileage on the clock, is it really neccessary! and as for removing a micron from the headlight! ffs that is getting a bit anal!! does like nice and shiny tho, till it leaves the garage when the shittl british weather will take effect
  4. top quality work, i love reading this thread, full respect to how much work you must actually put into each car, and the shine on that aston is true mirror like finish :)
  5. id leave the air box on mate, take out the big snorkel (for the sound) and if you like drill a few holes on the wing side of the box and stick a panel filter in there, there fore you get the sound but still keep the heat out, id remove the carbon cannister too and ive routed a cold air feed from the brake duct into the bottom of the air box, nice cool air at speed! :)
  6. fair play, wish i had the money and skills to do so, best of luck, its come a long way so far and it clearly shows, think it looks awesome already! :thumbleft:
  7. ive seen some advertised on german ebay for around £500, with out tyres tho, out of my price range sadly, think they're gorgeous
  8. i know there's the gti 30 edition which is a 30th anniversary model which was 227bhp, don't know if these are fore sale yet?
  9. im so jealous, ive been thinking about those kt 1's for ages now but just cant afford them on my student budget, of you dont mind me askin where you got them from and a rough price? great work with the transformation :thumbleft:
  10. IHIG60, cheers mate makes me feel good to know she's running well! just noticed your from rotherham used to live there myself (albeit 10 years ago) got family spread out between greasborough, kimberworth park and wingfield. soz mate bit random i know
  11. Anyone have any feedback on this? just wnadering if my figures seemed good, average? accurate flywheel estimate? cheers :)
  12. Slimg60, That does sound like a great deal! bit late as ive sorted it now tho, thanks for the reply martinb, Thank you too for the offer but ive had to sort it asap and only managed a quick call to hic before i saw your post, came out at £1200! Managed to get £568 TPTF with adrian flux who have quoted from the company ensign, all mods declared plus stated power at the wheels, 3 years ncb and thats wih my sp30 too. pretty pleased with a £400+ saving! coilovers maybe? Thanks for the advice on yet another insurance thread, sorry! did turn out to help me a great deal tho!
  13. Just thought id share with anyone that was interested went to a rolling road session with the bournemouth tidy vag ppl at janspeed today Went last year and got 126bhp and 131lbs/ft at the wheels, this was with a ported charger and the exhaust I then went to G-werks mid last year for sns chip and 68mm pulley and darren set the car up, timing? etc which hadn't been done. also ive now deleted the boost return and added a cold air feed via the cc hole, anyway today ive come back with 170bhp and 177lbs/ft at the wheels, i was expecting around 140? so janspeed estimated an approx 20 to 25% transmission loss so hopefully the cars around the 200bhp+ mark, Basically im well chuffed and it just goes to show what can be done with a few mods and the right person setting the car up, BIG thank you to G-werks, second to none, made my day now so thought id share with all 8) if i had the cash id love a fmic and cnc head but as im planning to travel at the end of the year ill have to sell the car for funds so cant jusitfy spending too much really, may get some coilovers but who knows, till then i can enjoy :D
  14. should've typed in the 'super' bit before hand hey! how id love a VRt
  15. depends what power your looking for really, some guys on here have got around 250bhp (henny, mikeg60, blue_joe) from a g60 with big valve heads, (maybe cnc heads from g-werks) and other mods etc and 300bhp is possible if you swap the g60 charger and go turbo, pretty effective ive read, charged vr's can be around 270bhp+! im no expert tho and sure smoeone will be able to advise you better than me mate as thats about all i know :)
  16. thanks for the input, used the search and got some numbers, think ill be trying HIc, Chriss notts and adrian flux, if not brentacre will do,
  17. That time of year is here and my insurance renewal has come through. its with BRENTACRE and for the G60 listed in my sig they've quoted £995 tpft on a 210bp limit. im a bit disappointed as this is only £170 cheaper than last years insurance and since then ive turned 21 and got another years no claims! Brentacre have been good and cant fault them but i feel i could get cheaper and also im looking to go travelling before xmas and i dont think you can cancel your insurance with them so that would mean paying for insurance im not using? anyway to the point before i ring to try and haggle the price down i was just wandering (if you dont mind disclosing this info) what ballpark other ppl are paying for a modded G60 around my age group, 21, student with 3 years ncb and what company its with. i know the area etc matters and where the cars kept thats why im just looking for a rough guide, Thanks for the help, craig.

  19. i like your imagination, got me thinking now, just wandering where you got the inlet adapter from tho for the second piping? any tips will be appreciated :)
  20. just wandering if anyone can help with the cheap coilovers spread on ebay at the mo, being at uni i cant really afford the top end stuff so just wandered which of these may be best for short term solution seeing as im not too clued up? http://url.the-corrado.net/2f5e6f Are these fk? http://url.the-corrado.net/3ee222 http://url.the-corrado.net/8627d1 http://url.the-corrado.net/20f0eb http://url.the-corrado.net/3d7f06 Think these are the same but theres slight differences in where the shorter spring piece is, some at the top and some at the bottom, is there any difference? and finally these look similar but the springs are different (wider), again does this make them better, worse? thanks for the help http://url.the-corrado.net/6d9df9 http://url.the-corrado.net/ddd651 on my budget which would be best value for money, i know something like fk's are obviously better but at the mo there sadly not an option, thanks again

    G60 catch tanks?

Think i may just get a filter then and make sure it stays unblocked, ive had the bottle on for a good month now and thers a dribble of fluid in the bottom, not much really, have to say tho the charger stays so much cooler now, after a good thrash its still cool to the touch where as before it would be just at hot as the engine! cheers for all the info :thumb right:

Didn't you post the same thing yest? still undecided then? id say it all depends if you want something quick or just a good driver http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=
  23. after removing my boost return set up ive just got a plastic bottle to catch the vapours and mist from the breather, temporary i know but better than dumping it on the ground. anyway will something like these examples be ok, basically after something cheap thats better than the bottle of evan  http://url.the-corrado.net/a00640 http://url.the-corrado.net/9c4a8f am i right in thinking there only needs to be one inlet hose on the tank then a hole/filter of some sort to let the vapours out, thought id see, try and save few pennies 8)
