  1. I don't doubt that global warming is happening but I question the validity of the science that dictates we are responsible and to what extent it's happening. We've been measuring climate (not very accurately) for about a hundred and fifty years, a millisecond of the earths history, how can we say with any conviction that the current climate change is unprecendented? The global warming swindle programme threw up some really interesting arguments for alternative (imo) more plausible theories, the activity of the sun being one, far more realistic to think that it's varying states are responsible for the varying temperatures of the planet. They seem to tally up historically too, not so with co2 output and the earths temperature (co2 levels rise after the earths temperature goes up) manmade co2 production went though the roof after 1940 yet the earths temperature went down until 1970? There are far too many politcal agendas involved with the global warming debate and I wouldn't trust any organisation that won't take a respected scientists name off their register without the threat of legal action (IPCC), I wonder how they got that magical figure of 2500 of the worlds top scentists
  2. Same here, 215/40/17, Toyo T1-R's, dropped 40 mm, only ever rubs on full lock, ie. parking. Though I don't allow more than 1 passenger in the back.
  3. Agreed on the quality US drama. Battlestar Galactica is very good, don't be put off by it's early 80's origins, it's nothing like the old series and has surprising depth, quality cast and production values. Dexter is also worth a look, show about a serial killer who's also a forensics expert working for the police, messed up but cool.

    Horn not working

Okay, I got the cowling off, I then need to get the bit of plastic off that surrounds the Steering hub so I can get behind it to resolder the copper strip, they used a fricking star screw! Grrrrrrr. Can I get a tool for that at Halfords?

    Horn not working

I always have the element of surprise 8) Seriously though, anyone got any idea how I can get the plastic cowling off (before tomorrow morning)?

    Horn not working

I've got my MOT tomorrow so I was just checking for silly things like the number plate light and the horn, typical, it's stopped working before and then I fixed it by bending the copper contact behind the wheel to make better contact, so I just took the steering wheel off to find that the copper thing has come loose and is just rattling around in the slot :( I reckon I need to take the steering wheel cowling off can anyone tell me how? Bloody stupid law anyway, I never use the horn (evidently). Cheers.

    BMW M3

I found the opposite actually I drove my mates 53 plate M3 back from TVR in Blackpool (after he picked up his T350  ) and I was really disappointed, the traction control made me feel very remote from the driving experience, I'm not very used to driving modern cars but it felt like someone else was in control, "you can't have the power just yet, not yet.....NOW you can have it!"Shiiiiii...... He's now got an M3 CSL, now that is an absoloute beast, completely different car, most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in though.
  10. Think I prefer all reds actually...
  11. I'm 34, when I first went car shoppping at 22 I had no idea what I was gonna buy, I saw a red Scirocco GT and fell in love (and got fleeced on the insurance) and it's been Dubs all the way: 1. 88 Scirocco GT 2. 92 Corrado 2.0 16V (paid 10K for it ) 3. 92 Scirocco Scala 4. 94 Corrado VR6 I hope my current car will be my last ever car purchase as I never wanna get rid, must be love
  12. Nah V8's are for girls, W12 in the boot gets my vote
  13. Cheers Dinkus I'll give that a try, it is a momo wheel and that has been a problem in the past but that was the horn button not working. I tried disconnecting the horn button to see if that would break the circuit but to no avail, I'll have the wheel off tomorrow and see if the copper ring is the prob. cheers, L.
  14. The car has taken to beeping the horn when I make right hand turns, which is reeeeeeally embarassing! Could anyone tell me how to disconnect the horn until I can get it to a garage later in the week? I'm guessing that disconnecting the fuse (which also runs the Radiator fan run on) would be a bad thing in this weather? Cheers, L.
  15. I think they loook great, always loved the Nothelle corrado lights. I felt the MkII Scirroco should have kept them and this is the evolution of the skyrocket so it makes perfect sense. I would like to see them with the standard grill though. Please post up any pics you took of the process.
  16. Over £1 per litre last time I filled up with Optimax on Sunday. Make that $7.15 per US gallon... :? More like $9 a gallon at current exchange rate. It'll take some inching to reach our level of fuel taxation.
  17. I guess it's the kind of stuff I associate with the playground or the max power forums. This place is usually more mature than that.
  18. Does anyone else think that all this "look what I beat in my C" and "could my car beat his car?"is just a wee bit childish? Maybe in future people could just pull over to the side of the road, drop their trousers and compare? That's certainly what it smacks of...
  19. TBH I'm not fussed that my car will never beat a scoob, or a 911 or a Maclaren F1. It's a different class of car, designed as focused rally tool but, damn it's ugly. Who ever thought of sticking all that tech and fine engineering in a frumpy old saloon car shell needs shooting. Our cars win every time in the looks department at least. I've always got favourable remarks from ladies about my car too, my ex just said last week "I love it when it growls", heh (me too)

    Full beam problem

Eek! I'm sure a techy sort will come to your aid. Best of luck.
  21. Oh cool! I nearly didn't bother posting this, I thought the chances of it happening to someone else were so slim, just goes to show.... I was all psyched to buy a new unit tomorrow as well, but I really shouldn't. Looks like you've just saved me £200, thanks Jeremy. MEX-R5, DVD and wireless 8)

    Full beam problem

Yeah, there's a pair coming off the battery cable, one of them had blown. Why is a slight worry, but I've got spares now and if it blows again I'll look into it further.
  23. Heh, it's tempting. I foresee head unit No.4 being bought tomorrow http://www.cel-direct.com/shop1.asp?s_page=radio-cd.asp CDX-M9900, yum.
