    a simple question

Passats have 2.9s too. Late ODB2 engine management on the Golfs tends to make up the small difference in capacity.
  2. Nope. It's just a random. The oil pressure and temperature sender wires are closer to the filter housing.
  3. Yeah, but what about the engine oil? Sorry. I keep thinking of that party the other weekend. :(
  4. You can tell it's VR by the thermostat housing in the top of the picture, the 16V and G60 don't have them, you could probably see a bit of the head if it were either of the 4 cylinders, and tell the difference from that. hat>
  5. A late spec Corrado has the spoiler come up at 55, or there's a helpful thread on here that tells you how to add a resistor to change the speed yourself. :) It's called spoiler activation tuning guide or something. Edit: Linky
  6. The Mk 2 switches don't look like early rado ones AFAIK, and my vr switch runs lovely and cool. The valver was always ok too, I have just put a headlamp loom on it now anyway.
  7. TBH, most mechanics aren't going to know it as a KR, it's just a 1.8 16v engine, like in a golf or something. if you aren't happy take it elsewhere.
  8. Mine was particularly grubby when I removed it, so not wanting any foreign bodies to be in the oil when I replaced the sender I got Goldie to turn it over. Several minutes later he'd finished laughing and I'd got the last of the oil off my face. :) ROFL. How many bar is the oil pressure again? Enough to hit my face quite hard at 2 feet!!

Actually. thinking about it, this has been covered loads... Use the search!!!!

  11. Did anyone else think "Bloody hell, there's another corrado on the road" as the silver one passed the red one??
  12. Yup, they're the ones. I lost about 3l in 5 miles or so through mine. so they're well worth repalcing sooner rather than later.
  13. VRs don't have a baffled sump. And I want to look up a picture of a BDSM dungeon to suggest as an alternative "happy place" but my work computer won't let me. :( Love the oik reference. The VRs have a high and low pressure sender arrangement too. These switches have a habit of breaking up though and leaking oil out the top around the spade connection when they age.

    Bolsters

I bought one a year or so ago. Had to be ordered in from Germany though I believe. £30ish for the right hand base bolster, £60 for the entire back (same as mk2 golf??)
  15. The rear caliper piston is on a screw threaded rod, so you can't just pull it out. it can be pumped either hydraulically or via the handbrake though as well as unwound.
  16. You can wind it out or use the handbrake mech to pump it out.
  17. I'd look at buying parts from the US, timing chain tensioners kit is around $155 from four season tuning.
  18. Nice going!!! Did she burn much oil?? :) Had a combine engine valve stem snap once, and the bits of valve punched through the piston. Was up and running surprisingly quickly again though.
  19. Between the slots in the struts and the movement available in the balljoint-wishbone joint, the wheels will come back straight. A lot of people have lowered their cars pretty dramatically and been fine. It can look decieving when you've got your head in the wheel arch, but a tiny adjustment will make several degrees of difference.
  20. if your ten stone then so am I. I think that would make me a ballerina too...
  21. Cheers guys. :) Quite like the way the golf ball dent is reflected in the bonnet in the top pic... Yan- I'd forgotten just how nice the colour is till yesterday, makes me really quite annoyed when I look at the miriad of stone chips in the bonnet though.
  22. b0llocks, forgot to check the cable arrangements again in the daytime, sorry dude :(
  23. Awesome!!! You're making bloody good progress again. When do you expect to have it running?
  24. Cheers Dave... Doesn't take long for the cack to build up on them does it? I find straw and leaves like to sit between the bonnet and the scuttle tray on the front. The VR breaking down was only an issue while the 16v was un-MOTed, I always knew it would need a lot of work, I just needed it to last for 2 weeks longer than it did. Hehe. Here's some more pics from the sunset...
