Alright people, picked up a standard airbox for the VR6 last weekend, i've tried to fit it but the top will not line up with the bottom (fits together fine off the car) looks like the MAF is too big or the plastic elbow that fits onto the back of that, could this be possible? Top of the airbox is about an inch out forwards from the bottom? Any help would be much appriciated thanks Adam

Really need some more pics but just haven't got the time, maybe this week if it stays good. Still collecting and buying alsorts of things for her to try and make it that little bit better, so far bought from very helpful forum members so thanks peeps who's helped, New grill (tabs are broke on mine) Foglight (driver side is cracked) Headlight glass replaced Black VW front roundell (nicked from my mk2 grill!) 288mm bits bought just need braided hoses (will be off to purpleTom for fitting) Leads, still need swapping Plastic engine cover, still needs swapping (got the bits) Top mounts and bearings all done Had the car on the ramps at a mates garage and the inner CV boot has gone, these little problems are a right pain but once done theres no thinking about it for a while. Also raised the coilovers slightly then had it 4 wheel alighned and camber adj, think i'm going for the standard look very soon with the wheels and sell these crap RXII's, maybe i've grown out of crawling over speedhumps!! Pics up soon
-
Really want to sort my RXII's (or sell them), can i get them shotblasted and powder coated without spitting them or do thay have to be split? Should the bolts be removed? Thanks Adam
-
Good skills! I hate MOT time!

Cheers mate, So i dont need a driveshaft then? Adam
-
Just had the VR up on the ramps and the drivers side inner driveshaft boot is knackered, do i need a new driveshaft (got a little play in it) or just the boot? Either way where can i get one? Exchange basis only? Garage quoted me about 130 +VAT, Cheers Adam
-
Yep you got shafted. I paid 12.91 each for Top mounts and 5.95 each for the bearings (plus VAT). You should of asked for ClubGTI discount too, Adam
-
Is it best to get genuine fuel and oil filters from the dealers?
-
Yeah paid about 30 pound for 2 mounts and 2 bearings the other day from the dealers, not bad at all AJ
-
Thank you, Adam
-
Carrier bolts for 288mm front brakes? Thanks AJ
-
...Gliptone? Where the cheapest place for it? Is there just one sort, looking to re-do my leather seats Cheers AJ
-
Cheers mate, i'll take it off and loosen it a little and see if that cures it Thanks Adam
-
The one that holds the top mount onto the bearing? I tightened that fully... cheers
-
Dont think so? Put the 'covered' end of the bearing to the top, into the top mount. Another thing is when i took the nut holding the top mount in place off one side the spring stayed in it's place, the other side (which i'm sure is the one making the noise) when you took the nut off the spring decompressed and you could remove it cheers Adam
