VR6 Engine wiring routing (anyone in Sheffield with a VR?)
Jim Bowen replied to P3rks's topic in Engine Bay
Some i took of mine while i was working on it. -
Is the iso connector not plugged into the original bit of loom? What colours have you got there?
-
Been goggling it since finding out and seems its called a check valve. Am wondering if i can cut the line and fit something like this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Non-Return-Valve-check-valve/dp/B0074HOCNI
-
Have you checked the fuse. I think they are all separate fuses for the head lights
-
Yep, i think you are correct, the only yellow wire i can see on the headlight diagram is noted as "Canada only, Dim lights" Doesn't show a yellow wire on the normal diagram for headlight switch

I think vw heritage sell the heat pads -
Hi and welcome. ---------- Post added at 9:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:30 PM ---------- I have a wiring diagram at work so could have a look at the yellow wire.

It would be interesting to find out. As I'm sure my coolant gauge has read low since fitting the rad, samcos and aux pump. Back then I just thought it was cooling better due to my cool new shiny parts
-
Is there an off the shelf valve that might do the job?
-
Yes, i only found out yesterday see here http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?80402-Still-got-coolant-problems Now, it makes me wonder because i've never seen it mentioned before, samco didn't mention it. Am not questioning peoples help, but find it a bit odd that a small valve could cause all my issues. Would of thought if it was that important it would come up in thread more often.
-
Just to check as i'm still unsure, if i blank it off, do i still need this valve as well?
-
Apparently there is a little valve inside it, thats all i am after.

Have you got any of the coolant hoses? Thanks

Have you got any of the coolant hoses? Thanks -
I'm looking for an original water hose from a VR6, its the one that connects from the rear of the head, to the bulkhead and has a thin pipe coming off it to the throttle body. Not too bothered about condition. Anyone got one? Thanks

I did just a new stat and a new yellow sender.

Are some parts departments deliberately unhelpful?
Jim Bowen replied to timthetinyhorse's topic in General Car Chat
The local one I've been going to for years was the best service I've had anywhere and they were really interested in the car. Vw shut it down a few months ago and now I have to go elsewhere and so far not enjoying the new place. Polite and helpful but very depressing feeling to me. At least they have a decent carpark though. Old one was ridiculous. -
Is the other option to disconnect the hose and block it off? Cheers for help.
-
How do I get it inside the samco?
-
No. Don't recall that bit at all. Not got the old hoses either as it was a few years ago. :( Do you reckon that could be the issue? Is there anything I can buy to do that job?
-
Yeah original engine and gearbox. All its had is the timing chains at 194k a clutch and 10k services. Nearly everything else has been replaced though. Leather is doing well for its age as well. ---------- Post added at 5:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 5:46 PM ---------- Saying that. Its got engine issues at the moment.
-
They are all samco hoses I have. The pipe from matrix to head is where I notice all the noise though. I still have the two thin hoses to throttle body. They are connected up as original but using the samco stuff.
-
Noticed this on my dashboard the other day and thought i'd take a photo for the album. Might try for 300,000miles, although i reckon that will take 4-5yrs
-
I've done loads of draining it and filling it in the last few weeks  Fitting various things hoping to cure it. I can only think its the headgasket somehow, but with no other symptoms.

I think both pipes got warm yes.
