  1. Just discovered the coolant is mainly coming out of the header tank. Can't tell if its the tank. Was a brand new one. Or if its coming out the little holes on the tank.
  2. I was thinking about sending them the bits i cut off as that had the splits on the inside. I didn't get a receipt with them. Over the years i've noticed the odd comment here and there where people are calling samco crap, but never thought anything of it. Just wondering if this is the sort of thing they meant
  3. Its weird, i had to cut one of them open and on the inside of hose, the grey layer (which is the inner most) has weird splits all over it, and some areas its into the blue layer. The areas where three hoses join seem to be splitting on the outside. I would hope its these hoses and not my headgasket, but think its a bit of both. I bought them brand new, but from someone on here, who bought them and never fitted.
  4. I already have a set of samcos and finding splits in them after a few years, so i would be after the roose ones to try/have for spares.
  5. Its the UFOs and Meteors i want to share with people
  6. Thanks for all the info guys, gives me plenty to digest. Am getting the rock hard hoses, but found 3 minor leaks lastnight, one is the hose under the header tank, one is the sender on the rad and i noticed some pink on back of rad. Although was a new VW rad and still looks mostly like new, so will be gutted if that has sprung a leak. (but these leaks are tiny and not much evidence of coolant below them (which i would expect with the amount i'm losing) Car is just about to hit 200,000miles and most of the engine is original still apart from timing chains, so it may be due some work. Is there a guide to changing a headgasket? Is it worth looking out for a new head? Think i'm going to order another set of hoses as not too impressed with the samco ones. ---------- Post added at 10:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ---------- Nice one, yeah we aren't too far apart. Will let you know, hopefully i can manage. Not sure whether to fix up the 12v or try a 24v, although most 24v lumps i find are over 100,000miles
  7. I seem to have a lot of moisture/steam from the exhaust. Not sure if its the weather or not though. All carpets seem dry. And struggling to see any leaks. Might get one of them compression tools
  8. Been having a lot of coolant loss on the VR, thought it was other things, like tiny split in a hose etc, have fixed things but its still going down quite quickly. Like the header tank empty after 200-300 miles. Am starting to wonder if its headgasket related? Got no mayo or anything abnormal on oil cap, coolant in tank looks fine, no oil or anything odd in there. But i do notice quite a bit of pressure in the system once its heated up, but is that normal anyway? Drives fine, although i have noticed sometimes when i start it, it can be a little lumpy/misfire for a few seconds, although this could be electrical, ht leads/coilpack related. Started to really bug me now. i can't see any coolant leaking that's obvious, i've only just rebuilt the engine bay back together and it got through coolant before this. Almost tempted to try one of them products you add to coolant to stop a leak (although always been against them sort of things)
  9. Just arrived, when i ordered he was out of stock so i waited. Going to fit it myself, maybe this weekend depending on the weather
  10. I didn't use sealant on my sump, just the gasket you can buy for it. I think they are about 25nm
  11. I have an Innokin Itaste VV and an Innokin AIO now, use them both quite a bit, its nice to swap between them
  12. I notice my battery is covered in water when it rains or I wash the car. Seems to channel water down the wing and onto battery. Is there meant to be something to stop this. When I got the car the bag was all damp and rotten so I binned it.
  13. I always use fuchs titan xtr now. Although its got a new name now. It's on opie oils and its a 10w-40. Its easier for me to buy bulk from Internet. I used to use the vw stuff but don't go to vw very often and usually forget.
  14. 1.5 inch is quite a way out. Have you compared the thread length on the other bolt you removed. Might just be stuck where it meets the metal sleeve in the bush. ---------- Post added at 10:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 PM ---------- I didn't read above posts. Just read and seems I am repeating people lol
  15. Its testing you. (The corrado that is). They are strange cars and always seem to kick you when you are down. Its all the good days in between that make up for it.
  16. Normal, not sure the theory behind it
  17. Its ok, the metal one was only about £60  I bought it ages ago thinking i needed it, and then tried to sell it for years. Luckily i managed to find it yesterday
  18. I did Robo, but them ones weren't part of the samco hose kit so i thought maybe they only sell them ones. Think i've fixed it now, i had the gruvenparts Y piece already (bought in error about 4yrs ago) Hose was leaking from where the small hose joins Look like race car engine now yay, race car!
  19. Seems one of my samco hoses has split. Its the one from top of rad. And where the long thing line splits off to header tank its split. I may be able to cut it off and then cut the main hose in half and fit this gruvenparts Y-piece that I bought by mistake. Think it does a similar job but on a mk3 golf. Can you buy samco hoses on there own? Am on phone at the moment so not looked it up on google.
  20. Jim Bowen

    sump gasket

I got a brand new one at home that i would sell.
  21. My postman is the best, he wears shorts all year round and has carried most of a corrado down the drive in separate boxes
  22. I think its the route i'll go down tbh. Seems quite suitable for me. I could even buy the donor and run it for a while on the road while preparing the corrado. are there certain models/different engine codes, i should really read the 24v thread
