  1. It's basically mcdonalds standard of business imo. No one actually seems to care, it's just a job. I get stuff delivered now, as didn't really like the atmosphere in my local one.
  2. I'm always happy with HIC insurance, a couple of staff there own corrados and they seem to understand the situation better than most insurers who have never even heard of the car
  3. In other news my clamp turned up Still waiting for the other part that it clamps to arrive.
  4. Was the trigger wheel. Must've slipped off the notch slightly and I've tightened it which has bent it. Comparison pic
  5. I have a new one for the list, am having trouble finding one new and vw told me they are discontinued now. Camshaft trigger wheel for vr6. Part no: 021905163
  6. Am sure they were quite rare in the past and people paying near £100 for them
  7. Cheers Jim, I have about 3 of them already  Found that the plastic pickup wheel fixed to the sprocket was cracked, not sure, but think it could be that hitting the sensor (i keep changing my mind) but this seems to make the most sense as it didn't seem to be hitting all the time, so maybe its distorting when hot/high revs?? Seems a hard part to find, i have one on the schimmel cams but can't get the bolt out, brought the bits into work today to see if i can do it.
  8. Looks fantastic. I also removed alarm before it left me stuck.... Feels old skool having to use the key in the door to lock the car
  9. I bought it as a complete engine a few years back, ran it for about 30000miles and put it in storage. Just chucked it back in so i can use the car this year. Am pretty positive its the original cover as Vince had told me about the skimming of the cover. I wonder if i have too much sealant in the underside where it meets the lower cover/head gasket.
  10. Shrick and a remap will sort it. Does stealth racing accommodate catamarans
  11. Been out this evening and dismantled enough to look at what's happening. Seems the sensor is coming into contact with the inside edge of sprocket, its so small an amount, not enough 1mm. The sprocket bolts are fine and the sprockets are tight, i think it is to do with the fitting of the timing chain cover, must be a little bit high. Not sure whether to refit the cover and try to keep it as low as poss. Not sure there is much adjustment in that. Or i might just run the dremel around the sprocket as well, just to be sure.
  12. Its typical of the corrado, i'm so used to it now. This problem i'm having is probably my own fault, just glad its happened now and not ended up being a bigger problem.
  13. I think either way i need to get inside the engine again to be sure. Just ordered the sensor from VW, its about £65 now and only 2 left. The sensor pickup wheel on the cam sprocket is discontinued now.
  14. Nah, it's the one that came with the engine. I remember making sure i don't mix them up.
  15. Cheers Jim. Appreciate the offer but think i have a spare already
  16. Will try and get cam cover off tomorrow evening. Not totally sure but might be the bolt holding the sprocket on is loose and slightly hitting the sensor which pushes it back in a bit as it spins. I know i didn't thread lock them this time, which I've done in the past.
  17. Right this is weird. When i took the old sensor out i noticed a scuff mark on it, the one i put in definitely didn't have a mark on it as i checked. Now the one i put in, also has the same mark on it. Must be something in engine hitting it, so will have to look inside engine i guess. Could only be the cam wheel or the sprocket bolt is backing out.
  18. ****, glad you reminded me. Felt like it's been forever waiting for this.
  19. from rosstech: Possible Causes Wiring to Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) faulty Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) Installation faulty Camshaft Timing Out of Specification Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) faulty Possible Solutions Check Wiring to Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) Check/Replace Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) Check Camshaft Timing Check/Replace Engine Control Module Hope its not timing related.
  20. Passed MOT a few weeks ago and has been back on the road (seems to be having a few issues though) First was the PAS pump making a noise, think thats all sorted now. But it was driving quite badly, low mpg and lack of power, misfire. Did a vagcom and the camshaft sensor showed up, swapped it for a used one i had and it drove so much better. Did about 250miles and all fine. Had to take front end off car today to remount the PAS/Alternator bracket, got it all done and went for a drive and its back to lumpy, no power, missing. Came home, vagcom and the cam sensor came back up again. All i really did to anything slightly related was disconnect the battery. 00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) 30-00 - Open or Short to Plus I wonder if its the wiring, and by fitting the other sensor i disturbed it enough to work. How do you really test wiring? Given up for the day now.
  21. Been out this morning and changed the bolts. All back together now.
  22. Can you just get some spal fans?
  23. Just been out and found the two bolts, Also had a spare bracket, there are only two holes the bolts will fit in. Guess it's going to be a busy day tomorrow. Will need to remove front end...
  24. Dammit. I can see me having to check now. Probably refit the bracket.
  25. Just reading online and someone mentioned the alignment of the bracket that holds pas pump and alternator on. After the noises and pas pump bearing failing I'm wondering about this. There are two bolts with a shoulder/blank section on them, i recall seeing them but not sure i used them when i refitted it, i just used standard bolts. Can't see it mentioned in Bentley manual, does anyone know which two holes those bolts go into? Got a noise again after changing pas pump, but its a different sound and higher up.
