  1. i couldn't get the adjustable in there, its so cramped, don't think the aircon pipes help my case i was planning to get a big socket and try that way
  2. so far mine has been a free fix, i tackled it before i snapped anything. All seems ok now. With the cables disconnected i could operate the cables by hand nice and easily. but the controls were stiff, i think they just run out of grease, looking back at the 1st pic i posted it all just clean, grease free plastic
  3. Just remembered something i need to know, but haven't got car with me. does anyone know the size of the spanner/socket needed to tighten up the temperature sender on the VR6 radiator, the bit above the bottom hose. I need to tighten this, but can't get a spanner or anything to it, don't fancy taking half of car apart again, so might try a really deep socket. its either 27mm, 28mm, or 29mm
  4. i got the corrado out yesterday and the controls are now easy and smooth to operate again. :D WINNER All i did was grease up all the cogs etc and left it in garage for a few weeks
  5. thats a great thing to do judith, i didn't think of that, i've got all new everything, but some parts of discs are really rusty looking already :(
  6. when i tried a shorter strap the problem was when you close the tailgate the shelf didn't go all the way back down and was hanging off the straps
  7. true............you can't beat a "rare" original
  8. will try and get this at lunch, whats on the front cover?
  9. The coolant hoses are quite expensive from VW, and if 2 have given up already it might be worth doing them all. Samco hoses seem expensive but when comparing them to VW, and the fact they are better, it makes more sense to buy them. G12+ is the best coolant to use, VW sell that and i'm sure you can get it online from somewhere
  10. i've had a Nakamichi headunit in the corrado since i got it, i've had that headunit for 5yrs and my brother had its for about 3yrs before that, good knows how it lasted so long, but its time to replace it. I can't afford much at the moment so £150 is my limit, i quite fancy an ipod ready one, or one with a USB as most of my music is now on itunes. found these 3 so far: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -23188.htm http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -23233.htm http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... .htm#first whats good these days?
  11. wow, they are like new. i should be getting a sandblaster setup when i start work on the land rover. took me hours to clean up my calipers with a dremel
  12. some headunits have their own separate fuse in the back of them, have you checked that?
  13. just checking ebay and this is what i can find http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PARCEL-SHELF-STRA ... 240%3A1318 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-PARCEL-SHEL ... 240%3A1318
  14. Sometimes i think about the long list of things to do, and things that will need doing, and how much money its all going to cost, on top of what its already cost to keep to keep the corrado. I often look at other cars for you can pick up nowadays for a good price, with a 1/3 of the mileage and not likely to break etc. The CTR the guy at work bought the same time i bought the rado has not had a single problem, and now the rado owes me more than he paid for that. The engine has been fine on the corrado, but i'm getting a bit bored of the silly faults i've had which cost either loads of money or loads of time. Heater controls, headlight switch melting, coolant leaks, brakes, suspension. I would hope i've sorted most things now afters thousands of my pounds and bloodied knuckles :( They do look amazing though to my eyes, and feels awesome to sit in. 8)
  15. i wanted to fit the drawstring ones that retract, didn't look into it though, but my dads audi a3 has them and i think mk4 golfs do
  16. just kidding. spark plugs oil + filter fuel filter air filter check the coolant, could renew it. power steering fluid brake fluid mainly just checking things, depending on what service history it has you might want to do ht leads etc
  17. kick the tyres, see if the wheels fall off
  18. nice job on the pods, i fancy doing something like that. i remember one lad did it, spent ages making these lovely curvy pods that stuck out, when he put it back on the car the door wouldn't shut  FAIL
  19. yeah, i'm afraid i got fed up in the end and took car to a garage with all the parts in the boot. they told me everything went on fine, no modifying needed. Apparantely the hardest part was getting all the old original stuff off the car
  20. yep they should fit fine, i bought normal corrado ones and they fit just fine, they just clip into the arm on the calipers
  21. can you not clean the old one and save even more money? i seem to remember people filling them with small pebbles and bleach
  22. there is also a kit on ebay at the moment, brand new, might be the same one mentioned already
