  1. on this wheel i have painted the back/inside, but with a different paint, slightly darker silver as i didn't wanna use up all the wurth paint. i think the wheels on the car i'm just going to paint the faces and leave as much as i can alone on the backs, otherwise i get carried away and need loads of paint
  2. i've done a few rattle cans jobs on cars before and its alwayst the laquer stage that makes or breaks it  i tend to spray on quite a lot now and get a really thick coating on. Am hoping the rubbing compound makes a difference as it does seem orange peely
  3. a pic with laquer on i'm going to let it harden for a week or so and then use rubbing compound to get the laquer a bit smoother
  4. it will be a recon unit, they usually are, but they make sure they are as good as new IIRC, i know vauxhall do the same thing. is £2500 for a rebuild using standard parts and keeping your block? and do VW want your engine in exchange for the new one and £2800?
  5. i've put loads of laquer on, i normally do when spraying, then i will try and rub it down in a few weeks so its nice and smooth, i know what you mean about getting a "dry" kinda feeling to it
  6. this is one with a couple of coats of the paint, not laquered, not brilliant, lots of tiny dents and marks, plus the lettering seems unclear, but this was a really bad rim i had sitting the garage, only going to use it as a spare while i do each of the others one at a time
  7. somethings i've noticed is, the fastest the car, the balder the owner  have you ever seen an evo meet? most people are bald :!
  8. would of been cool in 1996
  9. true.. i too get loads of water spots, shows up really bad on dark green too :( i end up having to buff with speed detailer the whole car if i want to get rid of them which takes ages
  10. i don't get how inline ones can work to 0ppm, the RO machines i've seen chuck out 2 gallons of waste water for every gallon of 0ppm stuff
  11. agree, £2k is a lot, its a 1992 car considering you can get a late 1995 VR for £3k nowadays
  12. is the gromit required deffo a 13mm?
  13. decided to have a go at this myself, haven't got to the paint stage yet, have only got one wheel this far, takes bloody ages but this was the worst one. has anyone done this before? does the whole wheel need to be sealed as such? do i need to laquer the whole lot? including under the tyre bit? this is the general condition of my wheels rubber it all down and been adding filling primer and sanding that back until it was smooth then just done a light coat of grey primer, ready to be rubbed down carefully and painted. i've bought this paint, seemed to crop up alot on internet searches i was thinking of just spraying the face of wheel with the silver paint, not sure i have enough to do 4 maybe 5 entire wheels, the inside will never been seen really. i mainly doing it as i'm fed up with cleaning corroded rims, this way they will be more wipe clean
  14. you could do mine now :norty: get some pics up, i take it you still have speedlines? i'd like to see how they look compared to standard.
  15. i find up and down and left and right works well  am sure doing circles is fine too, just remember to keep folding and kneading your clay to a clean spot. Chemical guys maxi suds 2 is what i use, i've tried a few now and found that made best shampoo and smells good, i will be going back to that after i finished the sonus stuff i got to try. as for wax, collinite is good stuff, or you could try the new Autogylm stuff, depends on your budget
  16. Step 1: pre rinse with hose = (i'd do the next step first, shampoo/foamy mixtures will cling better on a dry/dirty car and do their job better, then rinse/blast it off) Step 2: megs hyper wash in bottle diluter attached to hose leave for 3-5mins. Step 3: rinse with hose and dry with megs water magnet towel (i wouldn't dry now, i'd be left with a very dirty water magnet if i did) Step 4: 2-Bucket method with megs soft wash gel but I don
  17. i have one in my corrado, its never been any good, i felt a bit of "cool" air once, but had it on for over 30mins while driving the other day and noticed no difference really. i presumed it just needed a re gas? i should get it looked at now its warming up
  18. which one is Mrs B?
  19. i'm 100% sure they will, i think they are from a golf, i'm not sure what year and model though. thought its best to check first, i only want them as a temporary wheel to runaround on
  20. i'd like to know the outcome, and what the problem turns out to be. Am going to attempt mine this month and have been put off now :(
  21. when i went to VW it was £12 something for the seals and dust covers, didn't ask about the bolts, but the rubber boots that cover them were £5 each :! i don't get VW sometimes
  22. wow, great stuff, looks awesome now. can you get rid of hologramming? now the suns out my car looks a mess :(
  23. if i order from gsf is it? is that VW stuff?
  24. what disks and pads did you get for the front?, i should get mine on really but still need to get bits, where your calipers from a golf? what hoses do you need to order?
