not the lever on car as i bought them second hand, i'll try playing with the lever on caliper again. i got one piston half out by levering it out with a spanner, but it only went halfway
-
i was twisting that by hand and it just moved out a tiny amount, then back in.............just a tiny amount i take it they can't be blown out with an airline then? are the pistons actually attached to something? same with the lever bit that spins for handbrake, does that pull out?
-
ive found two types? http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=16508 http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=16507

does this tool also pull the piston out?
-
just digging this up as i've got some rear calipers now to rebuild. the bit that has a spring on the caliper, is this the handbrake mech, does the lever come totally out? i can get it out about 1cm but no more. also i didn't know the main piston is screwed in, i've tried to pull it out, its about halfway out now. do i need a special tool?

does this problem occur with other aftermarket exhausts?
-
that looks super :D nice to see uk style plates for a change too

i spent yesterday doing the same thing, never used the EGP before and am very impressed with it.

i spent over £250 on cleaning stuff when i got into it, but now i have loads of stuff i never use  i only really use shampoo, foam and quick detailer now, got bored of endless layers of stuff :(
-
yeah, i deffo get a clay bar and super resin polish, halfords do a 3 for 2 offer on autoglym stuff, so if you get autogym wax, polish and shampoo you will have some money left for a couple of applicators and a decent buffing off cloth

the problem is with breaking a mk3 is that most of the bits are readily availiable as there's so many out there.

Calipers from BiggRed and my running gear refurb
Jim Bowen replied to pete_griff's topic in Drivetrain
after all the ball ache of doing my front calipers i'm seriously tempted to send my rears to biggred to be rebuilt. are yours standard vr6 rear brakes? i think i need carriers too from looking at your pics. -
i settled for black in the end, after trying to get a silver one at a fair price. really pleased with the black, they don't really stand out on dark colour until you up close
-
do you rub the paint down before you laquer? if so, how? everytime i try it looks crap. just done another wheel and its come out pretty rubbish, i think i'm going to have to sand it all back again :(
-
there was no way i was getting min out without the front off, the aircon rad was a pig to undo, i think it i hadn't got good access i would of rounded bolts and screws everywhere
-
mine did this the first time around when i fitted suspension, then i changed the spring plates and mounts and they now sit nearly flush. i think it doesn't matter too much unless you get airbourne alot
