hi peeps, just put the head back on a g60, that me and a mate removed, so i could do head gasket, and port and polish etc.....however, i didnt remove the vacuum pipes from the engine, i was doing other things..... Basically.... What vacuum pipes go where, and from what nipple, to what nipple?? the one from left corner of inlet manifold goes to Fuel pressure regulator im guessing (and is t'd off on this car for boost guage?) The top rear one on throttle body goes to ecu (1m long pipe - or should be) Where does lower rear one on throttle body go to? Also, the one on the end of t/b, near boost return pipe, and intercooler pipe, does this get blocked, as charcoal canister is removed?? Are there any others that need blocking / removing, or connecting somewhere else?? Im doing it tonight, so i'll be popping in at about 6ish this evening to check for any replies before i go and try to fix it??? cheers for any replies......

urm...from what i remember, it frays inside the outer sheth, and you cant see its frayed....basically unclip it from throttle body, get under dash, and unclip it from pedal, and remove the complete cable from through bulkhead towards engine side.... refitting is reverse of removal.... as for part number, just go to vw, they'll know what your after, same cable as most mk2's and mk3's i think anyway??
-
ok, well its not rear then, as i was poking about in the engine bay earlier, and there are no signs of oil anywhwere, not even a drop. How can i tell if front one's gone? will it just be split? how much are these to replace, and is gen vw better than say, gsf etc? or should i go solid??

Think my engine mount has dies, but which one is it most likely to be? It clunks if u pull away hard, or change gear quickly and kinda dump the clutch? Its been getting worse for a while now, but i can actually make it do it now on purpose? Just wondered which one its more likely to be? the cars about 150k and its a VR6 btw :-)

i have now emailed bigpants_baby, and am awaiting his reply :-)

this is my plan also matey, as my raddo is the daily car,and the missus is using it at the moment, so god forbid anythng ever goes wrong with it, lol - oh, and i cant work on it at weekends either, as she's "shopping", lol Anyway - in answer to your question, the looms should both be the same as far as im aware, as long as they are both coilpack looms, then there shouldnt be a problem. Can i ask how much you paid for a full OBD2 setup?
-
im also seriously thinking of this for my storm......as its coming off the road soon, for a re vamp AGAIN, lol! Any diagrams, pics, or wirings lists would be ace :-)
-
yup, fuel guage is working fine. no problems with that at all. I spoke to ym mate earlier (whom i bought the car from) and he said the temp guage has not worked for ages!!! i bloody hate people who dont fix things, lol!! How can i test wiring / guage itself?? does the guage read resistance? is there any way of sending some power down the loom to see if the needle moves??
-
poo!!! tried the earth wire, and there is perfect continuity between that and the earth terminal, and any other part of the chassis! Also, it doesnt even break continuity if u wobble the wires etc.? Any other ideas??

hi peeps, just wondered what the normal range of oil temps is in a standard tune G60?? What the normal temp for general running, and driving about, and what do they usually go up to when giving them a good thrashing?? This G60's new to me,and i just wanna check everything is alright, when i start using it next week.
-
cool...we'll i'll checkit tomrrow morning, if i've got it back by then, as i've just dropped it off for its mot. :help: cheers again matey.

-
hi peeps, i've recently had trouble with my temp guage not reading anything when in use....so i changed the sender with a new VW item, and still nothing? Any other ideas??

hi people, i have a G60 corrado, that i've been playing with over the last few weeks. Its a Black J reg beast, and is a good litte car. It will be for sale within the next month or so, all going to plan, as i really dont need a 2nd raddo, and the missus needs her own car, so i can have my vr raddo back, as i miss it!! (and i've got lots of goodies to fit on it, which means taking it off the road for a bit) Anyhoo...back to the G60. Its got a MASSIVE folder of reciepts, inc reciepts for charger rebuild less than a yr ago at jabba sport (standard rebuild) and a complete head rebuild at a VW specialist about 4-5 years ago, with that bill alone topping a grand. Also, lots and lots of other history, all categorised into years, and date order. inc reciepts for light bulbs, servicing, tyres, changing of private plates onto and off the car etc. I have so far :- Greased spoiler motor, runners etc - spoiler works perfectly Greased sunroof runners, cables etc - sunroof works perfectly Rebuilt and re greased elec mirror sliders, motors etc, and rebuilt mirror switch, - mirrors both work perfectly Engine has been serviced by myself Charger has been rebuilt - by previous owner, and only done less than 3k miles since re fit Car has had a new injector loom fitted, due to old on cracking wires, and running on 3 cylinders - Now runs like a dream has had a new clutch, and low mileage gearbox fitted, due to original one losing syncro's one 3rd and 4th - now drives perfect. New throttle cable fitted, as last one was sticky - due to wires cracking and chafing. New temp switch fitted to run guage in clocks new blue switch Car will be lowered 40mm on bilstein shocks and springs this week..... And can come with a choice of wheels - Either black centred, polished lipped RH cups in 15x7, or BBS 15" BMW wheels (similar to 16v golf ones) Also, will have new foglight lens, as one is cracked, and new indicator, as one is cracked. Brakes will be fully stripped, cleaned and rebuilt this week Car has already got grooved front discs on it, but other than that, is standard. Also got cat1 Toad alarm, remote central locking etc. Oh - and its being resprayed within the next 2 weeks - its been booked in for a while, so may aswel go thru with it............Might also carry out a few smoothing bits maybe........ Will comeith a years MOT, and taxed if needed (at extra cost, as i'll have to insure it to tax it) Depending on wheels, will make a diff to costing, as rh cups alone owe me over £400.00 WHAT DO YA THINK? WHATS IT WORTH??

this is indeed exactly what the problem was :-) new cable ordered today if i get time, then she'll be fine :-)
-
ok, cheers for the replies....as soon as i can get the G60 sold, and buy the woman a car......then it'll be off the road for a bit, for paint, interior freshen up and a few stainless noisy bits :-) so i'll have a look then. that might also explain why its only bene struggling to get to around 28mpg with the missus driving it then. As before the rebuild it used to get around 34 to 35 with her driving!! cheers again peeps

is the temp sensor, the one on the top water flange in front of the blue switch??
-
Hi, i have had my G60 project running earlier, for about half an hour, and noticed the temp guage was not working.......what could cause this.....? Also, the lid was off the header tank, and after a while, the fans kicked in, and the water started bubbling over the sides of the tank.......is this normal, and would not happen if the lid was on?? Or does it mean water pump is playing up?? It has had a new water pump etc about 5 months ago, and its deffo not head gasket etc, as that was all brand new, rebuilt and replaced not long before the pump. Any ideas, or am i worrying over nothing?
-
hi people, Just recently i have noticed the temp guage in my VR6 reading under 70deg when crusing, and not the 90 deg every1 says it should read? Does this mean my thermostat is stuck open, or does my engine just cool itself very efficiently. Im sure it had a new thermostat from VW when i fully rebuilt the engine 2 years ago, but cant remember, and cant find reciept to prove. What else could it be, if not the thermostat?? When sat in traffic etc, it rises to above 90, but then fans kick in etc....and it cools down again

deffo deffo deffo get some eibach 30mm springs then mate. ery very comfortable, due to being progressivly wound, and very stiff when they need to be, i.e in corners, on roundabouts etc. I've had eibach stuff on every car i've ever owned, and would deffo reccomend them alot! To be hones, on normal cars, with standard wheels, and eibach springs, u'd be hard pushed to even notice they were there, until u cornered arder :-) However, alot of the harshness you are experiencing is probably due to the low profile tire's on your 17's which dont have anywhere near as much sidewall movement as the standard profile tires. Up to you, but i'd get the standard wheels cleaned up, and put them on, with some eibach's, and you'll be amazed! My mate has standard speedlines on his vr6, lowered with eibachs and KYB Ultra shocks, and his car corners and rides superbly. I have standard springs all round on my storm, and run KYB shocks in place of VW items, they are much better for handling, but springs keep the ride comfortable. And she still handle's really well. So there'sa few options for ya :-)

my late vr6 non a/c etc had a 120 standard, and replaced it with a 120 :-)
