You know i'd never do that! Have you ever seen me spending more than 5mins cleaning my engine bay at a show? Now its nearly all chrome i just wipe it over with glass polish. Polished alloy is a different story!! The prep is pretty tedious but once its done the maintainence is a helluva lot easier.

nice one. The guys on tex mentioned cyro treating too, i'll have to look into it as i can't afford a second rebuild. Wish i could afford the AP set!
-
thanks for that!!

Veyron next week. NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!
-
I'd like 6 speed but yeah, out of my reach. Longer fifth gear would be good though.
-
Hope you got a big hammer

Thanks Russ, I know what a short runner is now BTW  One week into the polishing, about 8-10hrs at a guess and its starting to shine also thinking about grinding out the rib along the top of the box next to the shiny bit, don't think i serves any strengthening function. This isn't a job i'm ever going to do again but think its going to look the biz and worth it in the end. More pics in a week...

any uprated bearing sets available?
-
You know there still going to rub.
-
thanks for the wallpaper!

Just started building a gearbox for my C, basically what uprated parts are available? I'll be fitting a LSD but what else is available as i only want to do this once, going to be putting about 380-400 lb ft through it.

 Nice one Russ. Got you pm, i'll give you a proper reply later as i'm off karting with MJ in 10mins. Looks like we're going to be swapping notes on turbos too!!

DSP do an off the shelf kit but Awesome told me it was poor quality but its the easy option. You can use genuine bases too but there £30ea + Vat from the dealers. If you do a search for porsche mirrors i vaguely remember describing the fitment details.
-
 Liking the one in you sig. Boxster mirrors??
-
Definately going for a diff, which is best? Heard that the peloguin is cheaper and you get a warranty but the quaife comes with no warranty.
-
thanks mate, i've got a rough idea of cost but its not really about that. Its a hobby and i enjoy doing it. I've built my car bit by bit over 6 years so i've probably saved money by not change cars every couple of years.

Just started on this but here's pics of my first hour on the job. Going to try to get an hour a day on it, read in the golf that steve whitfords took 60 hours so don't expect updates everyday! So far i've tried to get as much staining out of the box as i can with alloy wheel cleaner. Current stage is sanding to get most of the pitting out of the casing then i can start on the flat sanding. Really surprised by the quality of the casing, much better quality than an inlet manifold!!
-
it's a sealed box. I'm surprised too, like to know where all that current is going  Cabling is 4awg through to the dist block, 8awg to the amps. I have a friend who rebuilts alternators (bosch only, won't touch anything else), I polished and chromed the casing and he supplier 120Ah internals. Cost? I got mine at mates rates.

Hi Tej, Pic's below as promised.

  Bloody expensive but i've soo got to have them.... Hmmm what can i sell  i would sell a lot for them... they are sexy I've practically got another corrado in parts! Think i'll start ebay'ing big time so i can treat myself.
-
I'll update my members gallery with some install pics, maybe some in there already, can't remember. EDIT :- pics here http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 6b2#372990 VR's came with a 70Ah alternator as standard but you can get upto 120Ah which i have on mine. Still isn't enough though and i'm running about 900rms.
-
1, I've got a 3.4cu ft box and no much of a boot. 2, What amps are you using, be suprised if you need something over 4awg, theres a hole in the bulkhead on the passengers side easy to find, just below the line of the carpet under the dash. 3, Either, built over the spare or remove it, i removed mine. 4, You need audioscape pods for 6" door speakers. Yes 4" mids will go into the dash but you need will need to trim two tabs of the speakers and the speaker covers. 5, I'd say get a 4V headunit or line driver as their a tw4t for alternator hiss. You need a good strong signal. HTH

Whats the difference between a 964 turbo and a 964 turbo 2?
-
here's the TSW's. 8x17 the RD wheels were 7.5x17.

Racing Dynamics Racing Hocks, copy of the TSW Hockenheim R. TSW wheels had an alloy centre bolt with pin. Racing Dynamics used a grub screw through the bolt.
