really not worth tuning a valver unless you really like the engine. Its a much better engine than its given credit for (Ian Birch loves em') but best advice is save for a VR.

Driven a 3.0 TDi Touareg and its bloody awesome. The torque means you get 4 wheel drifts away from the lights  Very quick A to B on a typical roads, what pot hole? for example. No match for a C on a decent road but still a belter of a machine. Love to have a go in a V10.

nice but abit fussy for a C, great on a mk2 in a dark colour.

DaveVR6, I'm going to get the subframe completely free of paint and surface rust then let the chromers have a look at it. If they think it will plate OK then i'll polish the whole thing. If not i'll rub it down with a scotch pad and powdercoat it. Paul B, Probably seems insane to most, but i actual enjoy stripping parts down and rebuilding them. Its rewarding picking up chromed parts that look awesome knowing what they looked like a few weeks earlier. You'll see what i mean when the subframe is finished. Its not a part of a car you generally look at but in chrome, it becomes a very special part. The other bit is you get a lot of wow factor for mods which are purely labour. The chroming costs abit but stripping and polishing parts cost nothing and makes a huge difference. When i was a uni and had my 16V, i had no money to spend on it so the only way i could make it stand out was to get it super clean....

the quality is terrible though did anyone see their bits at edition38? really bad finish. The simple bits were nice like scuttles but that because they just cut them out of a bit of carbon! bill---was you drunk  I know richard and he is a very nice guy, but i've bought 2 ally bottles and a carbon bracket and they are poorly made. I feel bad about pointing this out but I paid alot from them and its just not good enough. Welding on the bottle is very good but the threads are shocking. The carbon bracket is just very bad and i can say anything constructive about it much as i'd like too. Bought this stuff 12month ago so quality may have improved.

Don't Mille Miglia sell them off the shelf in a 17" ?

Touareg V10.

Come on VR6, get those doors trimmed!

MPS performance make a cage for the C. They are very well priced.

Subframe is progressing. Much more difficult to clean this up than i thought. Now resorted to air tools  to get things moving more quicky. The extra power meant i could smooth out the smaller marks from the spot welds for a cleaner look. The deeper ones will be filled with weld when i seam weld the whole thing, probably going to have to build a jig so make sure its nice and straight before i start.

exciting stuff.

Tell me more... Start working for my parents in the new year. Got the latest CNC machining centres and lathes at my disposal. Be rude not to knock out a few pet projects  Aluminium wishbones are something i'm dying to have a crack at.
-
anyone interested in a billet aluminium one? Can be smooth or ribbed

think by being stalked by Angelina Jolie, you'd be as cool as you would owning OSV. :)

and the plans.... :?:  -
Well spotted, wondered why it wasn't running properly  They are re-routed to come up from the bottom of the engine through the lower inlet manifold.

yep, remember it well Voodoo Warrior Feature Link My second ever mag feature.

Sounds ideal but is kind of cheating. Also want to see this process with my own eyes first, as it looks more like polished aluminium in the pics i've seen so far.
-
come on mate, we all know which you really want to do deep down ;) ideally, yes your right. But, not sure how well it will take to such a complicated piece and i'll be charged the full cost even if it doen't work out.
-
Yep, its true. Bought a secondhand subframe from Tricky and now refurb'ing that too. First things first it was showing some rust so i've stripped it back to bare metal (top side yesterday, underside today) to see its true condition. Luckily its just surface rust with no pitting so it will sand out. Wish i had a media blaster like they do on american hotrod!! Once fully stripped i'll seam weld the whole thing and looking at the cups which hold the engine and gearbox mounts it maybe worth welding in some extra strengthening ribs to ensure the theres no twist. What to do then!! Really can't decide whether i should chrome this, powdercoat in silver or paint it body colour.

The last shots i have are from E38, going to post pics of today work later tonight once i get my camera back. Haven't fully decide on wheels yet. My options are to chrome my current rims or replace them BBS GT's. Always loved porsche cup racer wheels which the GT is based on but they start in an 18" which is too big really. Japan gets 17" LM's which you don't see listed so just maybe its the same story with the GT's. PhatVR6 won't be happy if i do fit BBS GT's!!!
-
Yeah it did have a ridge there. Left it in to start with but it had to come out as it could have ruined the chrome on the most visable part of the box. I'm confident than it serves no purpose with regard to strengthening to box case.

Motor's probably just tired. Turn your wipers on and put your hand on the body of the motor. If its getting really hot its knackered. Cost's about £90 or £15 secondhand.
