noticed that the lambo was higher on the lap time board than the FQ400. Maybe the touring car driver wasn't as good as the stig, or jezza.

someone told me 5.1 wasn't road legal.

thats fine with me, really want to hear your opinion and hear about your's and other companies products. Never owned a FI car and looking for as much info as i can get. If theres a developed off the shelf proved kit that takes my fancy i'll buy it rather than waste time and money putting together a kit that doesn't performance aswell.

I've looked into chargecooling and understand that it has 4 times the thermal capacity of an aircooled IC but the down side is once it does heat up as it will in a VR it takes a hell of alot to cool it down. to me sounds like its more of an option for a rear engined car in which running an IC isn't really an option.

i was considering running twin G60 intercoolers, one in each wing. Sounds good in theory but maybe easier to have one larger FMIC. Think 225TT run twin intercoolers, that setup maybe worth investigating.

Ok, my new radiator cross member arrives next week so i need to decide which intercooler to use to cool approx 300+ bhp. I'd like to keep the front bumper std, whats the biggest intercooler i can squeeze behind it. There no point fitting a massive cooler i guess theres limited airflow from under the bumper so look for the best comprise of size to airflow behind he bumper. Guess the G60 owners on here will be the experts on this topic. Also seen (on g-mans) on a G60 a cooler that sits directly in front of the radiator. Does this restrict the airflow adversely to the radiator or does the air pass through the cooler into the radiator? Any heat exchange issues? Also considering the type of cooler to go for. A factory cooler will look very, well factory once fitted but a custom or aftermarket could be a bit showier, if harder and more expensive to mount to a very high std. Where's the best place to mount the oil cooler with a front mounted intercooler? Really interested to here (and see  ) the options.

don't know, all the hubs, drive shafts, wishbones, trackrods are being replace and the car won't have an engine in it for a few months so i'll have to get back to you
-
 Well now that you mention it  Where do you get yours done Lee ?? Leeds is just down the road 8) Dubsport did mine, hasn't been done for three years. Needs doing again as its pulling slightly to the left when you boot it and the car is 40mm lower than it was on the RH Cuprader Evo's.

bet you were secretly pleased when they said it was too low

:help:

Doubt i'll feel the need to up the rev limit, turbo cars do there best work in the mid range. Think i'll be fitting total seal piston rings as thats what Ian did with B16 DUB with new bottom end bearings and think he mentioned fitting strengthened conrod bolts too. Will the PD diesel gearbox bolt onto the VR lump? Planned to get a secondhand VR box to rebuild but if the diesel 6 speed will fit i'll definately fit it.

Thanks I guess without problems I will be a lucky chap ;-) No i've only got the front VF mount now, reverted the rear and gearbox mounts back to OEM items because of the what Jeff mentioned. went backto oem and would not refit a rear mount - the difference is ludicrous I'm going to look into getting a softer rubber insert for my rear mount as the VF mounts are easy to strip down.

Thanks for the advise Kev, really need input like this. Noticed some really nice CV joints on page 18 of the Oct 05' issue of PVW(http://www.driveshaft.co.uk) . There £146.88 each but i'll try to get a better deal. I'll speak with Jeff about the various methods of lowering the compression, like to go for pistons and rods but it could get ridiciously expensive with the prep i'm putting to the conversion already. The engine is coming out, then the body goes to Jason and the motor and gearbox go to Jeff. Prep will be everything on this, currently collecting brand new wishbones, trackrods, hubs etc as i didn't fancy powdercoating secondhand parts. Even ordered a new radiator crossmember for a bargain £205+vat from GPC, dealers wanted £465.30!! Engine mounts are polished VF allround thinking about changing the rear but i'll try it first. The gearbox will be rebuilt with a diff and thinking about a higher final drive to get more use out of the first two gears which are pretty useless with 375lbft. Seen nice intercooler in demon tweeks, Jeff wants to fit a EV0 7 but it requires extra holes in the bumper which i don't want. Intercooler will be bought early as i want to weld brackets to the rad cross member and brackets for the oil cooler so it can be re-powdercoated before fitted. Not sure how long the build is going to take but i'm in no hurry.

OH my god. u need to see this if you like engineering

don't know why, but that car looks better on LM's than any other Mk4 i've seen. Awesome. -
It was indeed. I just fancied a bit of an engineering challenge!!! £350 sounds cheap, but by the time I get it working I reckon it will cost about the same as a new Schrick, but you can't put a price on rarity! I'm hoping it will be the World's only Golf Cabrio fitted with one. Sadly theres already a mk3 VR6 with one fitted in germany. It was in the Golf about 2 years ago. Pretty sure you'd be the first in the UK tho'

New AMV8 in non metallic black is running a white lamborghini Countach close as my dream car.
-
£920 with HIC. Brentacre quoted £200 cheaper but no agreed value and they only pay out for the secondhand value of the mods not new replacement like HIC. Lowest price isn't always the best.

Power isn't really the aim, but the DS kit is rated at 325bhp/377lbft with a spacer plate. I asked about pistons but Jeff didn't think they were worth the additional expense as i'm not aiming for massive bhp. I want more torque but the quality of the install and reliablity are my main goals. I'm changing jobs soon and will get the use of a Mitsubishi Animal so i don't have to worry about the C being off the road and can turn it into a proper showcar which is what i've alway wanted to do with it.
-
 , VR6S and an R32T. You a very lucky man Guy!! Did you fit the rear VF engine mount? H8RRA complained about the vibration and Jeff at Dubsport mentioned that a VF/VT rear mount makes it feel like theres something wrong with the car.
-
Oh right, so its currently living at dubsport until its fixed then the new owner hopes to use it daily.. ?? 15" wheels with that camber at the rear must look interesting :) Now sold to Nick Hosker, owner of the Mk1 VR6T for a sickening low price.

The advantage with the HGP kit is install time is 2 1/2 days compared to 3 weeks. I'm certainly going to take plenty of time with the engine build as i've got fed up of rushing to finish the car for the next show and i don't feel i have too any more as there nothing more i can accomplish with it. The turbo conversion is straight forward, dubsport will be doing most of the conversion but i'll be sorting the hoses, stainless piping (don't want samco and jubilee clips everywhere), possible making my own manifold if i don't go for the HGP and all the prep which i've already started. Dubsport haven't had any problems i've heard about with the 4x4. Sure you've seen the bronze mk2 at just about every dragstrip show this year and its running 458bhp. Seems bulletproof if it can handle that kind of abuse every other weekend. Dubsport so seem to get alot of flack but all there cars are still running on the scene and their as wild as it gets mechanically.
-
I'll say Ben, you'll get a ride in mine  The noise and speed together make it a real event. Been in a 20V T MK2 with 280bhp which was felt punchier but the vr6T is like a diesel in its mid range delivery, massive thump at the bottom and top too. I've been speaking to alot of people on vortex and their pretty damning of EIP. Mark's got the HGP kit coming in 3weeks so i'll decide whether to go for that or Dubsports own kit to my spec. Decided to junk the ABS on mine which frees up room and thinking about a stainless steel manifold too as i've heard the cast ones crack with the heat of a VR6T. The 480bhp 4x4 C was there too, that must be epic to drive. Certainly getting excited that i'm finally in a position to go for it.
-
I'd say Mk4 too as you can enjoy it more of the time. My C is brilliant for going to shows on smooth motorways but on a day to day basis the ride height and the worry of parking it (and rock hard ride) make it a complete knightmare. Basically, I know where your coming from, i'd rather take the keys to one of the company cars than use the C nowadays, never used to be that way.... Won't sell it though as i enjoy doing the work on it, same for you? Do you see it as a hobby or car?

Sounds good, I've always liked the sound of turbo'd VRs. Not been in one yett though. Turbo'd 24v sound even better! Max torque at 3000 sounds ideal and I'm guessing there's no lag either? Stage 1 is non intercooled isn't it? Stage 2 VF charger is 8psi, so 6 less than that turbo kit. no lag, it was running a mercedes sprinter intercooler but Jeff prefers to use an Evo 7 unit.
