Has anyone actually had their exhaust from Venom?
steve_16v replied to daleyboy's topic in Suppliers Forum
I should think they're still waiting on getting stock in from Miltek, I certainly had no issues when buying my exhaust from them, although I live pretty close so called them to check it was in stock and picked it up the same day. The place is quite small so they don't keep many more than one specific fitment of an exhaust in stock unless it's a really big seller. Chatted with Richard (the owner) for quite a while when I was there and he's a really nice genuine bloke, I've never known anyone have a problem with them. Try ringing around some other suppliers to see if they've got one in stock, if they have call Venom and explain that you need the exhaust quickly and wish to cancel your order. -
I've just reverted to original wipers today after selling my TT's, I'd forgotten how utterly sh1te they are in comparison! The passenger side blade was at least a cm from the screen at the top of it's wipe  Had to bend the arm a fair amount just to get it touching the screen. The drivers side seemed ok but after driving on the motorway in the rain today it turns out it wasn't ok and was merely spreading the rainwater over the screen rather than clearing it off! As Kev says, £95 delivered is damn good value.

It tells you all about this in the manual, although, as a typical male I'd only ever glanced at it so only found this out when someone mentioned it on here :)

Likewise, I was very 'meh' when it was released but that R version looks really nice, in a few years once the initial depreciation has worn off I'd be seriously tempted to get one of those 8)

Saw a green storm heading out of Preston on New Hall Lane about 8:00 this morning, was looking good!

Cool Steve - that was most likely myself - heading home :) I didn't notice you - that queue was something else on the southbound side! Cool, you're only the second forum member I've spotted in nearly four years!

Spotted a red C heading north on the M6 yesterday, was passing the Birmingham (Hilton Park I think) services about 14:45ish, I was parked up in the southbound jam :(

It's usually easier if you take the glove box and the seedo surround out so you can get at both sides to feed the cables through while pushing the unit back in. Having said that.....the glove box is a right :censored: to get in and out as well. I'll have to remember this, i really don't know how they fit all those wires in there. Not sure about early interiors but if you remove the shelf underneath the glove box (held on by 5 screws) there's enough room to get your arm behind the centre console and reach the back of the headunit, there's not much room but there is enough to feed cables about when you push the headunit in.

I'd like to know how IG88 managed to get a bonnet in the back of a Rado and shut the boot? When I went to buy a replacement bonnet there was absolutely no way it would fit in the back of mine, no matter whatever angle we tried there was no way it would fit. In the end we took off the old bonnet, put on the new one and left the old one behind. The bonnet was too wide to sit flat in the boot and too wide to go in at an angle and close the boot. Suppose it might squeeze in if you take out the parcel shelf supports? Or rest it on you head all the way home? Much easier to borrow a bigger car and use that to transport it.

Very nice 8) and just the sort of thing I'm looking for

-5 this morning for me, luckily I left it in gear last night because the handbrake was still frozen at 18:00 when I drove home ... the outside temp had "warmed" up to -1 by then!

Couldn't agree more, I've had the RAC out to mine three times in the last three and a half years. They've been excellent every time. Here's mine on the M62... :(

Replaced the heater scuttle 'foliage cover' gasket Replaced the heater blower motor & thermal fuse Oil & filter change Coolant hose & coolant change So, I now have a car that doesn't leak, has a blower that works on all four speeds and doesn't leave it's mark wherever it's been parked :) Plus, this is the first time I've ever done any work on a car and despite it taking a lot longer than it would have taken a mechanic, I have to say it feels good!

It's on itv catch up for the next 30 days, skip straight to part 3 if you don't want to watch the rest of it http://www.itv.com/CatchUp/Video/default.html?ViewType=5&Filter=22422 Be warned though, ITV catch up is utter crap compared to channel 4od and BBC iPlayer, you can't even rewind!

Voted, you're well in the lead now 8)

Same here, since I started using mine for work 16 months ago it's done about 20k miles and racked up bills of almost £4K in that time :help: (not including £1.5K for insurance and a £250 a month fuel habit). Today alone it cost me £138 at the stealers for a few parts, one coolant hose alone was £45! And yet, despite the horrendous running costs and near constant hassle from friends, family and coworkers to get rid, I couldn't trade it in for anything else. Sure, there are days when something else breaks and the appeal of something sensible like a two year old A3 tdi grows stronger, but a quick blast down a deserted A road soon sees to that. Recently, when leaving work one day, a man in the street shouted "nice car mate" as I was pulled away :) You wouldn't get that in any of the cars I could afford to replace the C with.

Try leaving a large piece of card under the engine overnight to see where it's leaking from. A few weeks ago mine developed a leak from the waterpump so I got that changed, unfortunately, I think there was a tiny leak on the radiator which the increased pressure from a new pump soon turned into a major leak (we're talking clouds of steam coming from under the bonnet when I got to work one day) so that had to be replaced as well. After spending the best part of £300 on parts and labour it doesn't seem to be leaking anymore.

I had a similar problem with mine recently, it was backfiring and had very little torque or power. Going up hills that you'd normally go up in fourth gear at low revs had to be tackled in second with your foot on the floor all the way up, likewise hills on motorways had to be taken in fourth otherwise it would be slowing down with your foot to the floor in fifth. Setting off from junctions required a liberal amount of revs just to get going, which in itself was a pain because the revs took ages to build up. Oh and it was using a LOT of fuel, low 20's on a motorway run doing 60-70mph, single figures in town, also the exhaust manifold would glow orange after a drive. I can't remember the full details of what the problem was because it was months ago when it was explained to me and I didn't fully understand it all, but from what I can recall it was the keyway on the lower crank pulley had sheared, this meant the timing was out and made the car run like a dog. I took it to AwesomeGTI and Jim took it for a spin and diagnosed it straight away, they see it once or twice a month there and luckily know how to fix it without having to take the engine apart (I can't remember exactly what but it had caused damage to something to do with the crankshaft that would normally need the bottom end to be removed to get at). Hopefully that's not what's wrong with yours though because it wasn't particularly cheap to get that sorted.

You can get replacements from Venom Motorsport
-
Cheers fellas, good to know it's nothing important, the nut has fallen off somewhere so I'll pop out later and get a replacement

On the way home last night my radiator top hose developed a leak, much steam came from under the bonnet, temperatures went far too high, so I pulled over, let it cool down, put some water in and got it home. Anyway, whilst fitting a replacement this morning I noticed the bolt circled in the pic was hanging out :? Just wondering what it does really?

I've been insured with Elephant in the past but when I was looking this year their quote was about £1400  When I had a look on comparethemarket/autotrader/moneysupermarket the quotes ranged from £700 to £1800, without declaring mods, so Brentacre were the best by a long way.
-
Renewed mine the other week, HIC renewal price was £1100ish with £250 excess, so I got a quote from Brentacre, £830 with £350 excess, rang HIC and the best they could do was £909 with £450 excess, strangely both were underwritten by Highway. No brainer really. 28yo, license for over 10 years, Class 1 business, 16,000 miles (6,000 business, 10,000 social, domestic and commuting), 3 years no claims, medium risk area, 3 points from an SP30 in 09/06, 50/50 claim in April 2005, all mods declared. Brentacre also automatically insure it up to 150bhp (136 standard) ... so I bought a magnex cat back last week, Brentacre didn't even charge me for changing the policy ... which was nice!

motorsportworld.co.uk sell a Supersprint cat bypass for 2.0 16v newer than 92, they're not cheap though, £88 delivered. Have you had yours fitted yet kuipers23? I went to get mine fitted today and the short pipe that connects the centre section to the cat was wrong with mine so it wouldn't go on. The pipe I got is tapered in on both sides so the diameter is the same as the cat, to connect to the cat it shouldn't taper at all on one side so it sleeves over the cat pipe. I spoke to Rich at Venom and he's ordered another pipe so will hopefully get it fitted later this week.

I've just been out and bought a Magnex cat back for my 2.0 16v, Venom Motorsport have a 10% discount on them so it was only £315 inc vat. Everywhere else I looked was selling them for about £290+vat. Not had it fitted yet but it's one of the most highly regarded systems for a corrado so should do the job nicely.
