Yeh, sometimes their attitudes are a bit uncalled for, but then again some of the s**t heaps you find on there are truly shocking.

Yep saw that too but on a different site tho. http://www.barryboys.co.uk (Check it out, this site is awesome!)

I'm after a power steering rack for a 1991, 1.8 16v corrado. Where's the best place to get one? i've heard you can use a golf 16v one but you have swap over the rods. Also is it easy to DIY it or am i best sending it to the garage? Thanks

The fork trick works a treat

Could someone just tell me how to get the needle off the speedo gauge, does it just pull off?
-
I couldn't find one at my local halfrauds either, i'll go on a mission tomorrow and i'll let you know where to get 'em.
-
That's what i thought until i had a look the other day. Apparently it will only work when the ignition is on and the switch is in the on position
-
Bit of a random question i know, but there's no bulb in there at the moment and the handbook wasn't much help. Can anyone just check what wattage theirs is? Cheers

Try changing the fluid like it did and check the condition of the belt and the tension on it.
-
To drain it there is a pipe connected to the pump it's self that is just secured with a jubilee clip, just undo that and do some more lock to locks to squeeze out the fluid

Mine seems to have like the wrong level of resistance or some thing, even tho it's new cos the temperature's way out. Does anyone know if there was any difference in the sensor from model to model? I've got a 1990 1.8 16v and vag just gave me this one and said it was the right one.
-
Ok thanks everyone for your help, i'll get on the case and i'll let you know how it goes cheers
-
Ok cool, what about doing those big end shell bearings someone said about are they easy to do? are they expensive?
-
Ok i'll go with that, do i just time it all up as usual?
-
So does anyone got any idea what i should actually do with the whole cam thing (if anything)
-
Yeh i thought about taking it to bits and replacing stuff, it's in pretty good condition any way (about 65,00 on the clock) but i think i'll have it apart cos it'll be a laugh. I'd heard good things about the old KR inlet cam trick and though that i'd have one going spare anyway i might aswell chuck it in while i'm in the mood for some modin'
-
So if i understand correctly, basically i just put the engine in, wire it up to the existing electrics, block off the unused sensors and swap the inlet cam for the KR one on the way and it should go but would need fine tuning at stealth to allow for extra fuelling at the top end?
-
That's spot on mate, just what i needed
-
cheers, but like what exactly would i have to do, i have a 1992 9A passat engine w/everything to take the place of the existing 1990 KR?
-
Thanks for the input people, i was thinking of just swapping everthing over (head and everything) to 9A, i think your right about all the electrical bits and bobs though because the 9A use monotronic injection i think.
-
Hi, i've resently found out my engine is buggered and was wondering about the possibilities of fitting a 2 litre 9a engine into my 1800 kr. Is it a like for like swap, or is there a little more to it? cheers
-
No, it's never given me any problems when starting, it goes the second you turn the key. I'll have to have someone check for the smoke tho
-
It's a 1800 16v and it's on about 110,000. I'll go and see stealth and see what they reckon
