ETKA wasn't much help either - it lists the black thing as.........a cap!!!

It's in a 1991 16v by the way. I have no idea my self, not a diagonstic port (k-jet), mileage is the old school type, so not for that. My idea is that could be where the sensor goes for a factory fitted alarm system.
-
it's in the bottom left hand corner of the dash display, next to the time
-
here's a quick one, need to be a bit bigger i reckon
-
yeh it the right bolt alrite, i think i'll take the whole thing out and have a look, cheers

I have a 1991 16v and my question is......does the big bolt on the top of the gearbox/engine mount (bulkhead side of the engine bay, passenger side) screw in? I can't get it to go in fully, it's threaded which suggests it does indeed screw in but i can seem to manage it. any tips/ideas?

i've got the same leak in the front passenger foot well too. It comes from where the little speeker grill is, that's as much as i've been able too find out!

My mate thought mine was a Renault 19!

Mines a 1991 16v so should be like yours, but i can't remeber if the flange is tapered or not. Here's a pic of one that's the same (lifted off another post by CaiosG60 PWR) What do you think, get the hammer out again?

Cheers for that, but if i take the seal out will i get a face full of oil?

Hi, Basically the drives side gearbox flange has come out of the gearbox (02A). Don't ask how it just has. I've read a few threads that say just to clought it one with a hammer, but i tried that and there's still about 10mm still sticking out, even tho i did proper clought it. My next idea was some sort of press to push it back in - i know VW have a special one but they said they wouldn't sell me one. Any ideas? Do i just hit it with a really big hammer, cobble up some sort of press (if so how big/small) or something else?

I think it's 357 711 683, Etka says that's a 'trim ring for leatherette trim' Or there's 357 711 689, a 'retaining ring' or 357 711 689, another 'retaining ring' I think it's the top one tho.

lol, i must jumped back about 6 foot - can still feel some tingling even now! Does anyone know how many volts that was?

Don't i look a silly bugger, and no it wasn't out of petrol. Me and my step dad went down a minute ago to try and get the thing going, after connecting the battery to the battery of the land rover and repeated failed atempts to start, my step dad sat in the drivers seat and tried to start it while i looked around the engine bay. It's a good job it was dark because i noticed a white flashing light from near the fire wall. On closer inpection i saw that the coil was arcing out on to the piece of copper u-bend pipe i used to bypass the heater matrix!!!!!! Then i go to move it (not thinking at this point) and got a few volts in my hand - doesn't have make you jump!! So there you go - make sure if you do by pass the heater matrix to put the pipe AWAY from the coil. oh and don't touch the coil
-
It's got worse (kind of). I got it started and it revved - reckon it was the battery cos i was jump starting it and then disconnecting straight away, maybe. Anyway i went for a little drive to charge up the battery and after a few miles i lost all engine power and came to a hault, i'm properly pissed off now. Is it the battery not having enough power of something?

Hi, i've been having some prolems recently with my 1800 16v, it's a real pain to start - takes maybe 10+ times! Once it's started it idles nicely, but if you even breathe on the throttle it cuts out!! Any ideas?
-
Etka is the parts catalogue for the VAG group, it's got loads of pictures and exploded diagrams and also part numbers - proper handy. But you can get very, very similar interior trim screws from halfords, can't remeber how much but they're well cheap
-
Off the top of my head the tyre i brought for one was 195/50. The insides of the spokes are colour coded dragon green - the same as my car. I've only ever seen some on a mk2 golf before. I've got a full set of 5 tho!
-
I got these when i brought my corrado and was told they're standard. But I haven't seen them anywhere before. They're made by Ronal, they're 15" and the offset is 25 and they're colour coded on the inner spokes. Does anyone konw anything about them?
-
I just phoned up the C and R boys and they said that ^ ! Just looked like it wouldn't clear the wheel very well that's all, it's all sorted now cheers everyone anyway
-
I got them from C and R, they say corrado 90-92 on the bottom of the packet. The other end has the right connector on it, as if they screwed directly into the calipers - but that can be right, can it?
-
I just got a set of these, but the ones for the front have long male connectors on and as far as i can see they're suppossed to be female as the flexi hose joins a small section of solid brake hose before it goes to the caliper. They are the right ones for my car (1991 16v) but i can't see how they're supposed to go on. Am i being stupid or is something a miss??
