  2. thanks Supercharged, when i get home i'll look them all up and see where i get to.. guess even if they're not related issues then the C's so idiosyncratic it could be anything!
  3. Well, having been lulled into a false sense of security by my perfectly functioning car, I opened the sunroof all the way yesterday and, when I got on to the motorway and came to close it, surprise, it woudn't.. So, i left it for the night (luckily dry) as i didnt know how to manually close it. But when i got in it this morning and after I'd wound it back with the allen key I realised that: a) the interior lights dont work any more, b) the MFA loses all its data when the ignition is switched off (but mileage is retained), and c) the alarm doesn't self arm any more.. I checked the connection on the interior lights and it is all ok so I'm thinking perhaps there is some kind of fuse that might have been affected by the sunroof failing?? Could that have a relationship with the ignition-off power? I don't have the book with me at the moment to check which fuse is which but does anyone know what to make of this? oh, and if the sunroof motor clicks but does not function now, do i need a new one??! thanks in advance! :)

    depends on the wheel width..
  7. cheers double-6s, will hopefully be able to purchase soon!
  8. here you go, 17x7.5J 205/40. you don't get any rim protection but its not too stretched..
  9. I'd be really interested to hear the results of running the Weitecs before you change the wheels as I'm planning to stay with standard wheel/tyre sizes (if not look :D) but go as low as possible. If you do fit them before you get wheels sorted then post up about how the ride is! Oh, and pics too if possible! Cheers John
  10. thanks for mine as well Neil. wasn't quite next day but then i only ordered at 7.30 in the evening! would have got them quicker if the postman hadn't hidden my "missed delivery" slip  cheers 8)
  11. sounds like if you're after a colour change then you should get it done and then invest in 3 industrial size rolls of bubble wrap!

  13. see, you obviously don't hate it that much if you're still treating it to new bits!!
  14. Eric and all, I didn't mean to offend either the committee or Andi. Seemingly I may have done both, so apologies and let no more be said. John
  15. Jim, appreciate what you've said and it is of course up to Andi. I don't think the positive arguments go away though and if the Club could come up with a reasonable enough proposition that doesn't impose more on him than perhaps the creation of a password protected section then perhaps there is a way forward? Yandards, I have read all the discussion that I could find today and I agree it has been discussed a lot! :) I think the issue is that most people feel that the Club offers less and less compared to the free Forum (which is now organising it's own stands etc.) and therefore on balance the Club represents much worse value. That said, the concept of an "official" Club is still very appealing to lots of people and so supporting that and possibly addressing Forum funding issues remains an undeniably appealing prospect in many opinions. I wish I could comment on the legal side but if the Club simply utilised the Forum rather than there being a legal relationship then maybe this can be coped with?
  16. Hi All, especially ALL CURRENT CCGB MEMBERS :), it seems the time is here again to raise the amalgamation issue as the Club’s AGM is 2 weeks away. I won't be able to make the AGM this year and nor I suspect would 90% of CCGB Members (or Forum members even if they were allowed to attend). However, I think that any Forum member reading this who is also a CCGB member should state their view on this amalgamation issue in advance of the meeting. Reasoning below: Thanks to Tempest for his comments to my post in the other thread. It seems from having read his and others’ posts earlier in this thread, that past politics and people not being online are the main reasons against combining the two entities. With another year of advancement in communication having gone by and with such obvious benefits and majority support as shown in this poll I can't see there is any remaining justification in these reasons against. I understand that this needs to be a democratic process across both entities and therefore I suggest its in two stages: 1. The CCGB needs to take a majority decision to go for online admin and communication. The reasons for this are simple, its survival. You would gain more members than you would lose, and the ones who are still serious could maintain membership through friends or regional reps who are online. 2. Having taken this big decision, then and only then, a united CCGB needs to formally approach Andi with a view to combining the online elements of the entities. I don’t know if or what the politics were with previous committee members but I understand that last year some “new management” were elected who use and appreciate the Forum. Andi seems like a very fair person to me who would listen to a sensibly put proposal from the new committee. This wouldn’t happen overnight and I appreciate both that it would of course be up to Andi in any case and that for now, he has expressed the view that the CCGB could be described as a “write-off”. Maybe this is assessment is accurate. If it is, then we can accept it and seek to allow an entity that is more successful to make use of the name. If it isn’t then the Club is woefully under-represented, especially in comparison to the Forum, and, without embracing online membership, that will never change. Whichever view you take there no point in having a dwindling organisation with the “official” UK club name which struggles, through difficult engagement with its members, to get content for its magazine or successfully increase its representation at show stands without the existence of the Forum. It seems to me to be a self-perpetuating situation that the CCGB AGM is the only opportunity to consult its membership on its future, but the least effective way of getting a genuine representation of the membership’s real opinion. As mentioned in this thread, a postal or proxy vote on a formally tabled motion would be far more democratic than asking only the people that are able to get to a single meeting which is 100+miles from much of its membership. So again, ALL CURRENT CCGB MEMBERS, if you agree with the above, then I suggest you communicate with any committee member so we can get STEP 1 above out of the way. Then, with a valid mandate (ugh – politics) we can then reasonably approach Andi and discuss how it could really work.
  17. understood Walesy, will comment in the Poll thread.
  18. Would there be an issue posting the Agenda for the AGM on here?
  19. Eric, this is sad to hear. I don't know any of the committee personally but understand that you all put your time in for free. However, to me this once again raises the question of amalgamating the Club and the Forum. The following is not directed to you personally - I'm just using your thread to raise it again! So many people were in favour on the club/forum combination poll thread (that I've just read end-end) that it seems there just needs to be a well supported democratic vote on the issue raised at the CCGB AGM. There must be a majority of CCGB members that are also Forum members that could carry a vote to combine the two? I am going to post in that other thread now to try to raise it again. If the CCGB can vote to make online membership compulsory then its barely-used forum can be abandoned, all members can be required to maintain their own address details online and ideas on how to share funds betweent the Club and the Forum can be meaningfully debated. Time required (often duplicated) by all would then be reduced, content for the Sprinter could more successfully be solicited (or even simply lifted and edited/abridged) from the Forum and combined funding (hopefully) improved. With 2 weeks to go before the AGM, time now seems to be of the essence to take the sensible step once and for all. I don't know Stevemac's views on the issue but if he is sympathetic then we should be taking proactive steps to make it happen. Cheers John

how much are we talking for the kits? is it different kits for different models? (VR6 etc.?)
  21. Neil, Have some clear fog/indicator ones that I am waiting to fit when I've got a new fog put in. Will try to remember to post pics if you still need them by then. Cheers John
  22. well done for not getting anything more serious, would have sucked with the new car! but your 17s are unlikely to have made more than 0.5-1 mph difference at 30mph unless you've got very weird tyres on :) so dont worry too much about them (but dont get done either!)
