  1. Philj, don't mean to be critical but if you could put up the full specs and detail on these and get all the interest and information focussed on one post then you'd probably get a bit more take up? I think a lot of us could be interested but at the moment it seems that you put up a new, but essentially identical, post every couple of months where everyone asks for detail but nothing substantial really comes back. after a while people give up asking until the next time.
  2. fair point but would that not apply to all non-standard rims/tyres though rodders? eg. i had 205/40/17s on my old bbs rxIIs and they're probably not the right width for 7.5js? cheers john
  3. have some solitudes that i want to do something with but I'm not that desperate to go for 205/50/15 tyres again. i have them on my speedlines and i just think they look a bit like seaside rubber rings.. even if i'm not trying to get to furkz' level, they're just about the opposite what you'd call stretched.. :) the car is dropped on koni/h&r and i'd like to try to go lower soon but I know that if I go too small with the wheels/tyres overall it would just accentuate the fact that the 15in wheel is basically undersized anyway. so, would 195s at least stop the bulge of the tyre over the rim - should i go even smaller? thoughts or pics of 195 or 185 on 15s would be appreciated!! cheers john
  4. i don't dispute anyones right to price a car as they wish for their business, however i wonder what prospective purchasers think when they compare the sale price to the parkers price as they're invited to do at the bottom of the ad! i paid about 40% more than parkers recommended price and £7k has got to be about 100% more so its an interesting sales method i'd have thought!! :D
  5. cheers all, good to know! will see how i get on once the season gets going!
  6. thanks for the advice guys!
  7. guess i need to get some pressure into them and see how they look then perhaps..
  8. hi all, excuse the lack of knowledge but there are a few things i'm looking to pick up over the next few months and i just wanted to ask if you can generally "organise" your purchases with any of the suppliers in advance in order to get their "show" prices.. i'm mainly thinking about some coilovers - is it possible to ring up and say "bring me a set of xyz coilies to inters so i can pay you a cheaper cash price for them"? thanks in advance! john
  9. was reading through some of the tyre threads today and saw a post from dinkus saying that rubber that has sat around for a while will be well past it.. picked up some wheels recently that have not been used for 2-3 years but have good tread on their BF Goodrich Profiler Gs. will these be on their way out now or will i still get some decent use out of them? cheers :)

    ET 40

7 or 7.5 probably ok but if 8 or more then you might have issues..
  11. got mine direct from the stealers after being messed around at 'frauds (completely different bolt shape on the ones "supposedly" for the corrado vr) parts guy at vw said they're the same kind they've used on recent golfs etc. not given them too much use taking wheels on and off yet but they seem sturdy enough.. EDIT will check price £40odd seems high thinking about it..
  12. you'll want some bigger adapters than that to take into account the extra rim width over the 6.5in standard size. plug the numbers into here and you see why.. at 17in diameter you would probably rub unless you get into the 30s for offset http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html
  13. lol! 8) hang on to it for sure jimmi, this can't have been a "commercial" restoration for you, you did it for the love of the 'rado! if you sell it there's no guarantee it will be well looked after and now you've lavished all this effort on it it deserves only to be kept or put in a museum.. i seem to say this a lot when ppl say they're selling but do you really need the money that much over the pleasure of owning something special?!
  14. nathan, did you get my pm about a quote for my cars? cheers! john
  15. pull up outside a shop and before i've even switched off the engine a guy is at the window asking how much i paid for the car, being generally complimentary... i agree, tell him how much i like it as well etc he then says: "you can put a ferrari engine in them you know" i coughed back a laugh and told him you could stick a charger/turbo on for a couple of grand and get similar power.. 8) still, it was nice to have the compliments and if anyone's got a ferrari engine knocking around then i'd love to hear how the conversion goes! :D
  16. too bad pal.. feeling for you. dont have a lock up but there's a space round the back of my flat that i rent from the peabody trust, don't know how much it helps but out of sights got to be better..
  17. keep it and buy something else as your daily Riley! you've clearly spent enough getting it reliable and you'll miss it afterwards! compared to what you want to spend how much will it really contribute if you sell it?

    yellow fogs

ah riley, hadn't seen latest pics of yours! so how have you done your dark fogs and indicators? cheers John
  19. looks good but perhaps a little too much volvo "shoulder" in its lines??

    yellow fogs

anyone ever seen smoked indicators/fogs, as possible to show on dubmodder?
  21. really liking that look with the original solitudes, going to have to look at that extra 20mm of drop now.. ;)
  22. it is definitely entertaining and i'm not after a list of stats either but all we were saying is that, especially in the last 2 weeks, there wasn't a whole hell of a lot about cars in it! now, if they'd put a test dummy with a camera on his head in the reliant then that would have been better! as it was it could just as easily have been a fridge that they sent up on the rocket!
