  1. just fitted new clear side repeaters! :) simplest mod anyone will ever do but very happy about the difference it makes, stops the car from looking nearly so dated. smoked rears are next.. also ordered lots of new screws/bolts etc for the front of the engine bay/slam panel.. trying to get it looking a bit smarter!
  2. i've noticed the same thing on mine actually but temp guage is showing perfectly normal so i haven't panicked yet.. am going to ask it to be checked over when it goes in for something soon but let us know if you find an obvious culprit! john
  3. cool, will give that ago as well!

valverado, mikeG60 had satin black d90s with diamond cut rims if you want to look back through his members gallery?
  5. mmm, met a guy with a gt2 on friday, reckons he can get 214 mph out of it!! i think i might have to blag myself a ride somehow! great looking photos though Nathan, the front of the white gt3 was disgusting!

    Fitted 268cams

VR6Will, have you taken the manifold off now - seem to remember that was a temporary thing? ie. are you just running these on they're own?
  7. craziscot, is that a cheap and easy thing to get done?
  8. that really sucks.. i'm sure it would be a technical write off, but i would definitely look into getting it repaired "economically" - ie. where the inside isn't necessarily as cosmetically well done as it would be in a proper repair. an old car of mine was rear ended a few years ago and although it was a write off, you could barely see the damage and a bit of pulling and welding sorted the exterior appearance even though the inside was still obviously bodged.. depends on whether you get salvage/buy back from your insurance and if its safe to do it of course but it would be a real shame to lose a silver vr...
  9. thanks, i tried pulling it through the bung but the angles arent right for all the twists and turns (battery in the way etc). i know i can just keep dismantling the front end till it comes free/has space to get out of the bracket but as i'm not used to too much bodywork diy i thought i'd see if there was an easy way! £24 at the stealers..
  10. lol, wondered if anyone would be brave enough to attempt a veiled compliment!
  11. dinkus, did u really mean in relation to the rear and gearbox engine mounts? I haven't asked elsewhere but was told VAG was about £60 for a rear mount?
  12. Hi all, Have a shiny new bonnet stand to fit but, when i tried to remove the bracket to swap the stands over by removing the 2 bolts at the right hand edge of the slam panel, it still wouldn't come out. Should the bracket come loose at this stage or do you have to take the whole slam panel out? Is the bracket attached to the wing somehow? Cheers! John
  13. not done it myself but its an easy find in the search..

well, AF came in £100 cheaper than anyone else this year, including all the other Forum favourites. Don't know about any other London owners but £470 fully comp, full no-claims but with 3 points in lovely Stockwell was pretty good in the end. Fingers crossed I don't have any hassles like those mentioned above but it was gratifying not to have to pay the £200 increase for my points that some of the other companies wanted, and that was on top of their initial £600 quotes..
  15. I understood that the bonnet needed slightly modifying (cutting) to accomodate the Schrick?
  16. lol, he won't be happy i mentioned it!
  17. hey ___Dubstar___, didn't realise you were on the forum as well when you asked to bring your car round! It definitely looked good, engine bay very tidy and lots of nice touches inside and out as well. Its strange, in all the photos so far my new plate looks almost luminous! I guess it needs a few more miles to dull it down a bit!
  18. thats what i like to hear! have some in need of tlc with a twist when i get some spare cash.. hoping to get them done before too long though!
  19. yeah double-6s, i've been thinking about spacers too. obviously you'd still see they're not 8 inches wide from the back but side-on and iding low enough would give a good impression i think.. whats the max width spacers can you keep the original bolts with?
  20. Andy ripped out the knackered old alarm in my C today and stuck in a new Cat1. Stayed there while he did it and very impressed by how its all 2nd nature to him. Very pleased to have remote central locking at last! Great weather, good stories about work he's done in the past & his old C and free lunch as well! Cant ask for much more really! Definitely recommended. 8)
  21. First time of posting in this thread but seemed like the time had finally come after a day of activity! here goes: Got new cobra alarm fitted to replace the non-functioning gemini that had been on since new.. this was important for my insurance and because the gemini was quietly disintegrating under the bonnet and botched repairs with string were not really a long term option! While this was being fitted we noticed a rear engine mount has died a gory death and is in need of urgent fixing! so, as i was in the area i decided to go and search out The Phirm to get a quote and check nothing else was up.. Having found them eventually (map-reading by 3G on a mobile is not ideal.. :) ) and making it up the rubble track to the unit I had a good chat with Tim who was very helpful with next things i'm thinking about for the car and very complimentary about it too.. :thumbleft: Having been all round the houses and with lots of oily hand prints on it i gave it a wash and then polished it for the first time  It also got treated to a new vw badge at the back, a new aerial, a test fit of the new chrome door pulls and 2 (expensive :mad2: ) new fogs (only needed one but then the other one looked sh*t...) So a pretty expensive week! Still got clear side repeaters, smoked rears and dial rings to get fitted and still thinking about 288s, polished solitudes, 6 branch manifolds etc etc.. I may be bankrupt before the end of the year yet!! 8) hopefully will get some good pics for a members gallery this sunday at Santa Pod..
  22. wow, you don't see something like that every day..!
  23. Supercharged, the Koni TA/H&Rs were only fitted about 2.5 years ago before i bought it - that would explain the new top mounts. If that was the cause (and it does only seem to be a surface problem) then I'll get it fixed and worry no further! Thanks a lot for your help on this and the electrics problem too :thumbleft: , getting a new alarm fitted on friday so hope to cure that one then!
